Chapter 4 The people choice

The next day, just at the breaking of the day, Grandpa hands his cloth wore after bath. Ready for the meeting. Isabella, having known her fate, has no choice but to quit from Christian, as Christian will be sent into the battlefield where he will be killed.

Going with this, Isabella is fully disqualified to be crowned the queen. She has defiled herself with a mere bodyguard.

"Crown me the king." Atlas stood on his feet.

"Never." The two kingmakers echo.

"Isabella still has a choice to make. She would either step down totally or lose the throne. Knowing fully that Christian has been sent back to his master, where he would face the punishment of defiling our princess." Lord Harrington spoke. "We can't have such an arrogant man like you as our king." He added

"Really, am I not better than Isabella?" I am a billionaire; time is better than a whore whom you have gathered here to know is finally a decision." "Haven't she made it clear that she is not interested in the throne?" Or will you change the custom overnight?" Atlas could shout at them; he was well-dressed and had his team with him.

"For the fact that she has committed abomination, we have to hear from the masses." Lord Harrington applied wisdom.

"No, that won't happen. When has it gotten to the masses choice? It is by merit; looking at it, Isabella isn't qualified for this", Atlas insisted.

"We have the masses here, same with Xavier, who had shown more interest in Isabella, despite the fact.

"Yes, Isabella, I have loved you with all my heart and am ready to spend the rest of my life with you." Xavier professes his love without minding what his kingdom would say.

"I can't marry you." Isabella surprised him. "Do not think you are doing me a favor; no, I am a woman of my word. Even in death, a Christian lives in my heart," she answered. Everyone was amazed at Isabella's words.

She couldn't take Xavier as a husband; instead, she awaited the next step.

"Let's hear from the masses," Isabella insisted, working with Grandpa's decision; the crown must not leave Isabella.

"Never, we can't have a change of custom now. Not at this point; this is a deceit. Isabella had committed what a princess shouldn't; why must you all cite her?" Atlas couldn't accept any defeat.

"She is a princess. She only defiles herself with a commoner, which seems taboo." Beatrice answered, wishing Atlas would fail.

"Never, Atlas needs to take over the throne," Aiden, one of the oldest elders that have been invited, replied. "She has committed abomination." Replied Aiden.

"This is our kingdom; you dare not speak." Charles challenged him.

"What do you know, you weak and irresponsible prince?" Atlas faced Charles face to face.

" Do not dare me." Charles pointed at him.

Enough, enough of this. Yes, Isabella has broken everyone's heart; she has made her intention known to us that she isn't interested in marrying Xavier. Irrespective of what she has committed. Isabella still needs the crown, same with the council." Lord Harrington would say.

"Isabella should rule us!" Shouted the masses.

Atlas wondered where this was coming from; he looked from afar, seeing the crowd that had walked down the palace. Shouting. "Isabella, Isabella, Isabella!" Everyone shouted.

"Keep your mouth shut!" Atlas shouted. The voice could sound louder. As everyone believes, Christians have gone to pay the price of their sin. He must be facing a terrible battle in the field. In fact, he is dead.

"Isabella, Isabella, Isabella." That's kept screaming all over.

Isabella looks around; this was a great opportunity for her.

"Never!" Atlas shouted, "I will rule this kingdom, and no one will stop me." Atlas screamed.

Isabella walked closer.

"You all want me to rule you; you feel happy about it despite what I have committed. You feel I am your joy." Isabella, addressing the congratulations.

"Yes, we need you to rule us and make a greater change; we believe in your leadership." They shouted.

"My joy is right there battling in pain; what benefit do I have if I rule without him?" She asked.

One of the citizens draws closer.

"Save the heartbeat of our princess." He pointed at the kingmakers, the elders in council.

Atlas drew out a javelin from a guard standing before him and threw it at him. Unfortunately, the javelin missed its direction and fell on the ground.

"I am devastated. I'm confused here." Atlas cried aloud.

"I told you, you will not be the king." Beatrice mocks him.

" Isabella, please, do not fail me, do not alone me weep all the days of my life for loosing you. I love you." Xavier would beg.

"I am sorry, Xavier, my heart beats for someone else." She replied.

"Isabella must rule us. Long live Isabella." Shouted most of the females.

Everyone needs a new era of leadership and has seen Isabella as fit.

"I will take the position with gladness, promising not to fail you nor disappoint you." She got her people happy. "But I need Christian beside me." She added.

Grandpa looked at the kingmakers.

"Let's get Christian!" Lord Harrington agreed.

"He must have been dead by now." Sounded one of the guards.

"No, go check immediately." Grandpa commanded. While the guard makes a step, news comes that Christians have been missing in the battlefield. There is no trace of his body, aside from his clothes that are filled with blood.

"No..." Isabella could cry out her pains.

Xavier felt a bit released within him.

"Go and search for him; make sure you bring him here!" Grandpa commanded. Isabella has fallen weak; she has lost hope.

Right there, Xavier had to excuse himself. Went into the comfort room, where he put in a call to the commandant.

"I'm sorry, we can't find him here." The commandant Xavier has paid to kill the terminated Christian, spoke.

"You must find him and kill him; I can't afford to lose the princess." Xavier on a slow voice spoke.

Meanwhile, Christian had been safe, already by an enemy soldier. Who dragged him out of the field?

"You need some rest." Replied the soldier.

"Thanks for giving me a new life, despite the fact we were enemies." Christian appreciates him.

"I do not know what came over me to save your life, even when I have the power to kill you." "I felt pity, seeing that I was risking my life; I still want to save you." Replied the soldier.

"What's your name?" Christian asked him to hold where he was injured.

"I am Michael," he answered.

Christian was about to introduce himself when he felt more pain at his ribs. He had a serious cut around his ribs, up to his head.

"I will assist you with some medication, believing you will be fine." "You have to do me the favor of not exposing yourself." Michael, plead with him. "Xavier wants you dead." Michael revealed.

"I promised not to move around. All I want is to be fine, so I would set my eyes on the princess of Aldovia again." Christian speaks, his breath slowly going, and his pains keep increasing.

"Do not worry; you will be fine." Michael assured him.

" she loves you with everything in her ," Michael relating much with Christian. " don't worry, I will get a solution to your plains." Michael promised.

"Save me, and I promised to render help as well." Christian, pleading, with blood all over his body. Suddenly, he started coughing vomiting blood around.

Michael ran around, checking his First aid box, he would check around. Until he found a sublimate that could prevent the bleeding and pains. While he goes out disguising himself with Christian to a near bye clinic.

Christian was rushed back to clinic, and wa attended by a doctor.

" He will be fine." Replied the doctor, who was on his duty outfit.

" Please, do whatever you, can to save him. He is my brother." Michael exaggerated.
