Vanessa POV
I didn't know how many days I had stayed in the den. The wooden walls felt like a cage now and everyday, I waited to be sold, but nothing happened.
One morning, as I held my belly, I heard the guards whispering outside. They didn't know I was awake, so I quietly listened closely.
"Adrian said it's a mistake, selling her like that."
Why?" the other scoffed. "She's just an omega."
"No, she's pregnant with a Lycan's twin, Adrian says it's dangerous if let loose and could shame the Alpha. He also thinks she brings both power and scandal."
The words hit me like ice, because Adrian was loyal, but not blind. Did he really care, or was it just strategy?
"Wait, you mean she's-"
"She's carrying power," the first guard continued. "Twins, and the Alpha could use them, raise them himself as weapons, and break her will."
I turned my face to the wall, biting my lip as my body trembled, not just in fear now, but fury. They saw my children only as weapons for their war.
Caleb didn't return in person, but his orders came.
Later that day, they dragged me out to scrub the blood-stained courtyard on Caleb's orders. My belly felt heavy, and my back ached. My knees bled, but they still laughed at me.
"Look at her," someone hissed. "Whore of a rogue."
"She probably seduced him," another chuckled. "Letting rogues mount her like a bitch in heat."
I tried to shut them out, tried to ignore the pain, but the words hit deeper than the wounds on my skin.
Even the other omegas who were once kind, turned away, scared of Caleb's anger. My only crime was surviving and carrying children.
That night, I went back to the den, more broken than before. And every night for the past few days, I had the same dream.
Flashes of silver light, a burning forest, a golden crown on ashes, and blood on pale fingers. Twin flames in the dark, growing inside me, stronger each night.
I saw a man with golden eyes, barefoot in the moonlight. He walked through fire, untouched, calling a name I couldn't make out.
Then he would stop, his head tilted, like he could smell something, me.
A name always trembled on my lips in those dreams, Victor. I didn't know him, but my soul did.
That night, I saw Caleb again, not in person, but in his dream. I don't know how but I was inside his mind. He thrashed in sleep, sweat soaking his skin. I stood in the corner, a silent ghost.
"She's changing." he whispered.
He saw me glowing in the moonlight, my eyes silver like fire. He saw the twins, strong, radiant, powerful, and in his own dream, he knew I was not just an omega. It scared him.
I didn't know how I was seeing Caleb's dream inside my own, I never thought I had such power.
The next morning, the guards dragged me from the den and this time, to the judgment hall. Caleb was there, his face hard to read. Rhea and Adrian sat beside him.
I didn't know why they brought me here, but I was about to.
"She," Caleb said, almost trembling as he pointed at me. "She must die by the next midnight full moon!"
A death sentence didn't just change my expression only, but Adrian and Rhea as well.
"Brother, a death sentence? Why?"
"My Alpha, she's still preg-"
Caleb interrupted, trying hard not to tremble. "The dream last night, if she births those babies, we're all doomed. She must die!"
Caleb's mind was made up, no one could change it. He would destroy the threat before it could grow.
After forcing me to do more tasks, they dragged me back to the den. I sat in the dark, holding my stomach. My babies kicked softly, and I cried.
Suddenly, during another night, a strange flicker of light filled the den.
A soft voice came from the shadows, then a woman appeared. Maria, Caleb's powerful private witch, knelt beside me, her hand glowing faintly.
"Don't scream," she said. "I came to help."
"Why?" I whispered. "You serve Caleb."
"I served fate long before him," she replied, her eyes sharp with secrets. "And fate brought me here, to the silver wolf."
"What do you mean by the silver wolf?" I asked as I felt confused.
She placed her hand on my belly, ignoring my question. "He's dreaming of you, you know, the Lycan."
My breath caught. "What?"
"His soul is marked and he sees you, smells you, and longs for you. His wolf can't rest, trying to find your scent, but fails. He searches for the voice that called to him in the dark."
My heart pounded.
Maria went on, "The message Luis sent, it reached his scouts. A clue only, no names but he knew."
"What did it say?" I asked.
Maria's eyes dimmed, then she made it appear on the wall for me to read.
'Omega with twin flames in her womb, silver bond marked by storm and scent, trapped beneath Bloodhowl's den, marked for death.'
I gasped.
"He tried to reply, even sending warriors, but the drop-point was found by Caleb, and he ordered for it to be burned."
My heart clenched. "That was the last trace of Luis."
Maria looked at me urgently. "Your dreams are waking something ancient, moonfire. Your mother's blood flows in you now."
My mouth fell open. "Moonfire?"
"A long-lost line, rare, sacred, and powerful. Your children are not ordinary, and neither are you." She leaned closer. "The Lycan is coming."
Tears blurred my eyes, and before she left, she whispered one more thing.
"A spy," Maria said. "One of Caleb's own is secretly telling the Lycan about Caleb's crimes and secrets. Bloodhowl is doomed, and Caleb's reign will end."
Then she vanished into the shadows.
***
It was midnight, and the full moon rose like death itself. It was time to kill me, and I was to be used in a ritual.
They dragged me to the pack's center. The torches burned bright, casting cruel shadows on sneering faces. Caleb stood tall and cold, Rhea smirked beside him.
Guards held me down, one on my neck, another on my arms.
A third, huge and merciless, raised a giant axe. The blade gleamed in the moonlight, ready to end my life and the legacy I carried.
Caleb raised his hand and made a gesture.
"By the law of our pack, she is found guilty of betrayal and treason. Let her blood cleanse our soil!"
"No!" I screamed, twisting, kicking. "Please!"
As the axe began to fall, my eyes were closed, I had accepted my fate. Maybe Maria was wrong, maybe the Lycan would never come to save me.
BOOM!
Suddenly, something strange started to happen. The sky exploded with light.
Thunder cracked loud enough to shake the ground and wild winds tore through the trees, and the torch flames danced like spirits. An ancient, powerful howl rose up.
The guards froze!
A sharp lightning bolt struck the courtyard's center, just missing us. Then, from the east, came a powerful roar.
Soon, we heard a loud cry rose from the gates. "He's coming! Victor is coming!"
Chaos broke out as soldiers flooded the courtyard, some dropped their weapons, others ran to the walls.
Then, I saw him. Through dust and wind, a figure appeared, wearing royal armor shining with silver and obsidian. Warriors accompanied him, and his golden eyes glowed like suns.
Victor!
His presence shattered Caleb's barriers like paper and the guards who tried to stop him were thrown aside by pure force.
He didn't speak, his wolf did.
Power filled the air, wrapping around me. My heart knew him, and my soul burned for him.
My wolf growled as our eyes locked through the storm. Caleb saw it, and he trembled before shouting in a loud voice,
"Kill her now!"
Again the axe rose, and Victor roared. Immediately, the guards held me down. My heart pounded and my babies kicked.
And then- "No!"
