The Healer's Concern*

Elwynn's eyes seemed to bore into Lena's soul, as if searching for something hidden. "Tell me, child, what happened in the forest?" she asked, her voice low and gentle.

Lena hesitated, unsure of how to put into words the strange sensations and visions she'd experienced. "I saw a figure," she began, "tall and imposing, surrounded by Shadows. It led me to a twisted tree, and...and something happened."

Elwynn's expression grew more serious, her brow furrowed with concern. "You touched the tree, didn't you?" she asked, her voice tinged with a hint of fear.

Lena nodded, feeling a shiver run down her spine. "How did you know?"

Elwynn's eyes seemed to cloud over, as if memories were rising to the surface. "The twisted tree is a place of ancient power," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "Few have touched it and returned to tell the tale. You're lucky to be alive, Lena."

Lena felt a surge of questions, but Elwynn's expression silenced her. The healer's eyes seemed to hold a deep sadness, a knowledge that went beyond words.

"What does it mean?" Lena asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Elwynn's gaze snapped back to hers, a hint of determination in her eyes. "It means you've been chosen, Lena. The Shadows have marked you, and your path is no longer your own."

Lena's mind reeled with the implications. Chosen for what? What path lay ahead? She felt a sense of trepidation, mixed with a thrill of excitement.

As the fire crackled, Elwynn reached out and took Lena's hands, her touch warm and reassuring. "I'll teach you what I can, child," she said, "but you must be careful. The Shadows are not to be trifled with."
