A tinted black car slowly packed at the front of a building....the windows all lowered except for that of the back.
"Boss this is where she's been living for the past two days..."
A bald man mumbles, after some digging on Elena under Nikolai's orders. His pink lips smacked slowly, Nikolai slowly glances at the building indifferently.
"Should we go get her?"
The bald men followed his orders to point, Nikolai breathes out partially.
"No...that won't be necessary."
Nikolai lazily flicks his fingers asking them to leave. He was had what he wanted ...well for now.
.......
After stepping out of the building that morning, Elena was surprised there was not a soul at her doorstep calling her all the names.
It should've been expected...after all her dad was quick at acting when need be. On the TV's and streets, it's like the rumor of her cheating disappeared in the thin air without a trace like it had never happened.
Elena didn't know if she should feel disgusted or happy by that, for she signed up her life for it...she accepted conditions and it looked like her name wasn't cleared at all but just buried.
"There's no turning back...."
Elena breathes out recalling to herself that if could get this far then she could get this over with. She keeps her head up high looking at the Fletchers organization standing huge and tall.
She doesn't even remember when last she was here...but from what she knows all memories she has of this place made her sick to the stomach.
Elena steps in the doors shutting after her. She directs herself towards the receptionist where she was welcomed sweetly.
"Miss Fletcher...welcome you're awaited at the 4th floor."
Even though it was the first time she was called by her status she didn't like the taste it left in her heart.
"Follow me."
Elena nods briefing a smile to hide the fact that she was uncomfortable with the calling. She follows the receptionist into a lift.
It was so big and beautiful yet she felt nothing positive about it.
As Elena was left by the door, the receptionist stepped into the large doors to inform Peron, Elena stood there wanting to run back but she couldn't.
"Miss? Head in."
The receptionist smiles walking off as Elena was left by herself and what was beneath the door separating them.
She steps in her heart thumping, Peron was sited in his chair facing the window.
"The sky is beautiful today don't you think?"
He mumbles warmly as Elena lifts her head up looking at the sky her mind slowly calming down.
By the time her eyes went back to his chair, he was looking at her. Those black deep eyes...Peron slowly smiles at her.
"My dear Elena I'm happy to see you."
Elena adverts her eyes, she hated the warm put up act, she wanted to cut straight to chase with no pleasantries.
"What's it you wanted? I'm here now so-"
A heavy sigh made her flinch as Peron stood off is chair walking towards her, he was smiling and she couldn't say what he was thinking.
His black eyes preyed on her making her feel uncomfortable.
"Forget that. We're family no need for such coldness between us. Take a sit."
He mumbles stopping on his tracks as he makes a turn to the coffee machine. Elena sits down trying to put herself together.
Peron walks towards her placing to the table a cup of coffee. He slowly rests himself back to his sit. Silence followed as Elena avoided his eyes and sips from her cup.
"From now on you'll be working with me. The office library need someone like you. I heard you have the skills."
He mumbles with no room for questioning, Elena simply nods.
"No need to worry you'll be given a high pay, so consider that job nothing of a deal. I know you well and I know you don't want to be paid for free."
Elena squeezes her hands around her coffee cup, her mind full of questions. She could still feel his eyes on her.
"F...For how long?"
"Hmm?"
"I mean for how long should I work with you?"
Peron slowly smiles his eyes squinting.
"Why? Do you intend on leaving later?"
Elena quickly adverts her eyes chuckling and the conversation went no further.
...
The Fletcher's mansion was filled with Liliane's cries.
"How could you!"
(SLAP!)
William's head flew to the side his jaw clenching. Eva stood there furious her chest heaving up and down. She couldn't believe her ears.
"When you picked Liliane over Elena no one forced you. That was your decision! How could you humiliate Liliane like this?"
Eva rushes down holding her daughters swollen ankle as she places on it a pack of ice. William walks towards them slowly taking care of her ankle.
She had a fashion show in a few days and he wouldn't forgive himself if something happened to her.
"William...you saw it for yourself. Elena hates you so don't ever do that again."
Liliane mumbles recalling the scene. She wanted more than anything to completely be the one he loves.
Before that they stopped at the hospital but she was told to just add compress to the inflammation.
"I'm I the only one who noticed? Elena was not making the headlines today. No one talked about it either."
"What? Isn't she suffering enough? Why do they have to portray something which isn't true in the first place!!"
William snaps causing them to jolt, Liliane pulls her leg away from him.
"What's wrong with you?"
Liliane sits up her eyes darting at Williams's figure he slowly gets off the floor.
"All I mean is, It's not necessary let's forget about her okay? Please."
Even though Liliane remained silent, she was no near satisfied, but she had to pretend to be.
.....
"I can't believe what was making the headlines yesterday."
Alysha mumbles reading a magazine. They were sitting at their hotel lounge having a meeting. Nikolai and Damien were both quite observing her.
"What?"
She asks after noticing their stares.
"Well it's rare for you paying much attention to what happens in other people's lives."
Damien mumbles playfully leaning to his chair he immediately jolts again.
"It's very weird that it got ceased just like that. It was like the scandal never happened!"
"Pfft"
A chuckle made their heads turn. Nikolai tilts his head looking at them.
"The world we live in is scandalous to a point where rumors are also fake."
He mumbles slowly shutting his eyes. Alysha rolls her eyes throwing to the table the magazine as Damien gets off his sit with a grin.
"And what do you mean by that big brother?"
Alysha looked serious all of a sudden. She hated when Nikolai played hide and seek with his words.
"Who knows..."
Nikolai mumbles his eyes fluttering open again. Alysha yawns as Damien jumps at his back.
"You should tell us! It's no fun!"
Nikolai gets off his eyes on his wrist watch. He steps towards the door.
"It was fun having you. Siblings. You came on time which was unexpected...but work calls."
Alysha walks past him with her phone to her ear as both grinned. Damien walked towards him.
"That was, your doing right?"
Damien mumbles their eyes glinting. They needed not much to understand each other and communicate.
.....
As days went by, Elena fulfilled her tasks perfectly, her life was peaceful and contented.
Not only did she not see Eva nor Liliane, she was glad she didn't have much contact with people who walked in there till...
(SLAP!)
Elena holds her cheek remembering the familiar feeling of what her whole life was, tears threatening to fall down her cheeks.
Her lips quivered but no words came out of them.
"You think you could hide here after causing so much trouble to my daughter that day huh!"
"No...No I didn't"
Eva grabs her hand, forcefully pulling her out of the library. Their voices made people stop and stare.
Elena felt bitter, why did she always have to be humiliated in front of others.
"Come here! I want you to apologize on your knees!"
Eva pushes Elena, her eyes widening, Elena was sure to hit the floor but instead she felt a strong grip on her arm.
His scent made her legs weak. Elena slowly lifts her eyes up meeting his cold blue eyes. That dangerous man...she thought ...she met so often...In the bad times... Elena curses internally, feeling his hand tighten around her. Nikolai glares at Eva making her freeze on the spot. Nikolai slowly mumbles.
"What a way to treat your employees. Don't you think Miss Eva?"
Elena didn't know why...but she knew that there was a slight turn of things, which seemed like Karma for her family. That man won't certainly be her downfall or will he? What mattered right there to her was...that she wasn't the one to explain that pretense called family.
