Chapter 5 Birthday fun

Miri's POV

I'm so tired and actually rethinking whether school is actually worth it as I walk back home with alira and then she says something I didn't even think about or I was deluding myself into believing I wasn't thinking about "Miri tomorrow is your birthday and in two days time on the coliseum day it is also going to be their death anniversaries, how about we skip the coliseum ? Do what we normally do and pay our respects to them and binge watch all our favorite movies,are you interested ?" I slightly giggle at her tone it sounds as if she's coaxing a child "yep after all the same way that day is to mourn the parents I love it is also to celebrate your escape from the parents we don't love" and we both end up laughing hysterically that anyone who were to see us now will think we were going insane but that didn't last long cause as soon as we open the door to our group home we see a flier pasted there that says "all and every female must be in attendance and failure to comply will lead to you being dragged there forcefully" alira reads it out with a loud sigh as she slumps down on the floor sulking, I reach out to touch her shoulder "Ali it's all going to be good" I say trying to comfort her and then all of a sudden she jumps up and starts smiling a smile that tells me she's planning something that I will not like " Miri if we have to attend why don't we make the most of it" I dread the next word that I know is about to come out of her mouth" let's go shopping!!!" She exclaims, way to jittery for my liking but unfortunately as soon as it was said I stopped having a choice.

"Happy birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, happy birthday happy birthday happy birthday to MIRI!!" I open my eyes to see ali with my favorite cake in hand and a stupid grin on her face I take the cake "Thank you Ali, I love the cake not a fan of your voice though" I barely even finish before a flying pillow hits me in the face " go get ready let's go shopping and do something fun to celebrate your day" she seems so excited so without arguing I get up drop the cake on the bedside and head to the bathroom. In about 15 minutes I go down to see Ali already waiting for me "did I keep you waiting for long" " no not really I was about to come knocking I thought you jumped out of the window to escape me again like last year" " geez girl you really do know how to keep a grudge" i mutter as I walk past her, she simply just catches up to me and places her hand around my shoulder as we walk out.

We arrive at the mall in less than 15 minutes and enter into Ali's favorite boutique to pick out our dresses, ali being the fashion demon that she is already picked out what I believe should be about 7 dresses for herself to try on"Damn girl, calm down no one is stealing your clothes" I say with a laugh and she simply ignores me and continue to select more dresses " just like clockwork my favorite girls are here again, happy birthday riri" we both turn to see seraphine walking in, she's the owner of this boutique and one of the only two persons who still calls me riri but after alira lost a bet she had to stop calling me that for a while "Girl you came at the right time, I need to choose something for our riri and I to sparkle at tomorrow coliseum" "I have got you covered" seraphine says as she brings out a black high slit dress with a minimal cleavage that leaves little to the imagination and tells me to try it on "if I try this on you guys will have no say in what I actually choose deal?" "Deal" they respond in unison, I walk into the changing room try on this dress and look into the mirror black has always been my color it complements my pale skin and silver hair and this dress does just that it's beautiful with a low cut v-neck and a high slit it's fitted enough to trace my curves while still giving that elegant look, it would have been perfect if not for the fact that I never wear clothes that hinder that my movements and this does just that. " heavenly supreme how did you make someone so beautiful" alira screams as I walk out of the dressing room "Girl I want to steal you and lock you up just to admire you,WOW" seraphine joins her " it is really beautiful but Ali, sera remember I don't wear clothes that hinders my movement how about we chooses something more casual after all I really don't want to stand out at the event maybe a top and Jean or even a two piece of your choosing" they both groan as if I'm being unreasonable but Ali and I later settle on a matching black and red two piece, the top is a beautiful sleeveless crop tank top that comes with a short jacket and a high waisted trouser that exposes only our belly button and it looks simply perfect. When we are done there we go for a massage and even get our hairs done and decide to end our day eating desserts cause one thing me and Ali bond over is our insatiable sweet tooth. "So did you have fun" ali asks while putting a spoon full of strawberry ice cream in her mouth "I always have a good time whenever I'm with you" I reply while staring at her ice cream "Awwwn riri" she starts as I steal a spoonful of her ice cream and shove into my mouth "what the hell, this girl touch my ice cream again and I just might strangle you" " you have said that so many time over the years that I have lost count" I tease as she does the exact same thing , "Ali!!, just because I stole from you doesn't mean you have to do it back, like that is so rude" I mutter which earns me the biggest eye roll ever as we both just go back to our ice cream but now we're on high alert so no more thefts were successful, I really don't know what I would do without Ali in my life. I simply hope the peaceful days never end, but the heavens have never been kind to me, I don't think they would start now.
