Chapter 3 ABANDONED

I woke up the next day with a slight headache and looked at the clock, it was Six a.m.

"It's still quite early," I said to myself as I opened my cupboard taking out a pain reliever.

I drank a little portion of the pain reliever. Something fell on the floor, and my eyes immediately went in the direction of the sound, I looked at it and saw that it was my sister Diana's picture frame that had fallen.

I looked at the picture in the frame and remembered when we used to play with each other.

I sat on the floor sobbing as I remembered her.

"Oh!, Today, my dad and brother will be home to discuss my issue," I said to myself thoughtfully as I continued sobbing.

I looked at the time again, it was half past six. I stood up and opened the door of my room.

I slowly stepped into the kitchen as my stomach kept making noise, which meant that I was hungry.

I opened the pot, but it was empty, so I rinsed the pot.

After rinsing the pot, I walked up to the packet of noodles and took a noodle, then went back to the pot and cooked the noodles, then ate.

I returned to my room, took my bath, brushed my teeth, brushed my hair, applied some jelly on my skin, then went to my bed after putting on my underwear and closed my eyes trying to get some sleep, which I couldn't. I looked at the clock again and sat up. I remembered Diana's favorite song which I sang, and I didn't know when tears started dropping down my eyes as I remembered how Diana usually sang the song.

After some minutes of singing and wiping my tears, I looked at the wall clock then stood up, walked over to the wardrobe I shared with Deborah, and looked into the wardrobe, but found the space meant for Deborah empty.

"She has packed out of this room," I said to myself feeling thrilled and quite sad as I picked my school wear and put it on.

I sat on my bed, taking out my shoe, which had been polished, and put it on.

"Sophia, are you ready?" I could hear Deborah call me and my heart was full of joy hearing my sister call me.

I quickly wore my shoes and got up to leave the room carrying my school bag.

"You are not looking bad." I could hear Rose's little voice directed at me as I closed my door.

I faced her. 'So she is no more afraid of me.' I thought to myself walking to them.

My mom came out of her room.

"Mother!" Rose said giggling as she hugged Mom.

"Good morning, mom." I greeted and she looked at me.

"Don't forget our meeting at Six p.m." She said and I nodded my head.

Rose looked at me and then walked up to Deborah.

We left the house for school.

Arriving at school, I walked up to my class and had my sit on my usual chair. The class started with English. Two hours later, we had our leisure time. We all went out to play.

I stood behind a tree looking at all my mates who were playing.

"Sophia, come over." My best friend, Cindy, said walking to my side and pulling my hand.

"I don't want to play, Cindy," I said to Cindy who pulled me to the playground.

"Why don't you want to play?" She asked me and I shook my head.

Some minutes later, I started playing with her.

"Ah!" I could hear someone shout, and we all stopped playing and turned to see who it was.

I could see blood dropping from the person's hand and my eyes widened at the sight of blood. I could see Cindy wave at me, but I didn't care and rushed to the boy who shouted and started licking his blood.

They all stared at me.

"Stop that, Sophia." I heard Rose say, as she walked up to me.

I immediately remembered how I killed Diana and looked away from the boy's hand. I still felt like drinking blood, but remembering what I did to Diana made me look away from the blood.

I walked to Rose and stretched my hands out to her, but she moved back. I looked up and saw Deborah standing beside Rose. Deborah was in her final class in the school.

Four hours later, we were done for the day in school, so we all left to our various houses, and I walked home with my sisters.

"Please, do not tell Mom about what I did during our leisure time," I said to my sisters pleadingly.

"Sophia you know I won't, but you have to stop this habit before you become a nuisance to the community," Deborah said to me.

"Have you forgiven me for killing our sister?" I asked them.

"I can never forgive you," Rose answered me.

I looked at Deborah who didn't utter a word.

"Deborah!" I called out her name.

"I can't say anything yet because it is still fresh as it happened yesterday." She said, answering me.

I looked down and sobbed.

We got home minutes later, and I went into my room and sat on my bed. I heard a knock on my door.

"Who's there?" I asked, but no one answered, so I sat still on the bed.

I heard the knock again loudly.

"I am coming!" I said, thinking it was Rose.

I walked up to the door and opened it and saw my brother standing in front of my door.

"Good afternoon," I said and opened the door wide.

"Do not forget that we have a meeting in the next three hours." My brother said to me not smiling, which made me sad because my brother always smiled and joked with us whenever he came visiting.

I nodded my head to him and he left my room.

I quickly locked my room door and sat on the bed thinking of what would happen during the meeting.
