Chapter 4 The betrayal III(3)

Elena pov

Jason's voice dropped, cold and emotionless, as he stepped closer-too close.

"I killed them," he said flatly.

The words hit like a blade to the chest. My breath caught.

"Your precious pack... they betrayed me. And they paid for their betrayal with blood."

He tilted his head, eyes gleaming with something dark. "Now, Elena, it's your turn to pay."

I stumbled back, my legs trembling beneath me.

"No..." I whispered. "You're lying. You're just trying to mess with my head!"

His smirk widened, but there was no amusement in his eyes.

"Am I?" he asked, voice like ice.

"Look around you, Elena. You've been abandoned. Cast out like trash. Why do you think they sent you here? To bring peace?"

He scoffed.

"No. You were their sacrifice. A living offering. They knew exactly what I'd do."

My heart pounded like a war drum, my wolf Sofia screaming in my head.

"Run! Fight!"

But I was frozen. Terrified. And yet... something inside me sparked. Anger. Fury.

They sent me to die.

Jason stepped even closer, his breath brushing my cheek.

"Welcome to your new reality, little Luna."

Jason leaned in, so close I could feel the chill of his breath against my ear.

"They'll never tell you the whole truth," he whispered, voice smooth and venomous. "But that doesn't matter anymore, Elena."

Before I could react, before I could even blink, something cold flashed in his hand.

A dagger.

"No-" I barely got the word out before the sharp pain ripped through me.

The blade sank deep into my side.

I gasped-choking on the pain-my knees giving out as I crumpled to the forest floor. The world tilted, blurred. My hands trembled as I pressed them to the wound, but the blood poured too fast, too hot.

Jason stood above me, expression unreadable.

"You were never meant to survive," he said quietly. "Just meant to bleed."

The earth beneath me was wet now-slick and red with my blood. My heartbeat thundered in my ears, then began to fade, softer... slower.

Everything was fading.

The trees. The sky.

His face.

My vision blurred until all I saw was darkness.

Sofia... I called out in my head.

But she was silent.

Was this the end?

Jason knelt beside me, his shadow swallowing what little light remained in my fading vision. Blood pooled beneath me, warm and thick, soaking into the forest floor. My body refused to move. My limbs were numb. My strength-gone.

He leaned down, his face inches from mine, his dark eyes holding no remorse.

"Goodbye, little wolf," he whispered, his voice a death sentence wrapped in silk.

I wanted to scream. To lash out. To shift and tear him apart. But all I could do was stare, wide-eyed and helpless.

My mouth parted, but no sound came.

Sofia, help me... I called again, silently, but even my wolf had gone eerily quiet-either too injured or too heartbroken to respond.

Tears welled in my eyes, burning as they slipped down my cheeks. I had been trained to fight, raised to lead. And yet here I was-dying in the dirt, cast out, betrayed... defeated.

Jason stood slowly, towering over me like a shadow of death.

"You were strong once," he murmured. "But strength means nothing when you're alone."

The air shifted-sharp and sudden, like the breath of a storm. I barely registered the sound of footsteps crunching over the forest floor, growing louder, stronger, until they stopped just a few feet away.

"Get away from her."

A cold, commanding voice rang out like steel slicing through silence.

Jason straightened, his amused scoff echoing around us as he took a step back, lifting his hands mockingly.

"And who might you be?" he asked, eyes narrowing with interest.

The figure didn't answer him.

Instead, she stepped forward, the moonlight catching the glint of silver in her cloak, her presence radiating power and danger. Her voice dropped, softer but even more intense.

"Elena... do you want to survive?"

I tried to answer, to scream yes-but I couldn't speak. My throat burned, my chest ached, and the world tilted around me like I was caught in a storm.

My mouth opened, but only a whisper of air escaped. I was too weak... too far gone.

Still, I blinked-once, slowly-hoping she understood. Hoping someone finally came... not to hurt me, not to use me, but to save me.

She moved fast, dropping to her knees beside me, her hand pressing against the wound on my stomach. Her touch was warm, humming with strange energy that made the blood around me glow faintly.

Jason watched with interest, his smile fading just slightly.

"You're too late," he murmured, but even he didn't sound so sure anymore.

The mysterious woman ignored him.

"Hold on, Elena," she whispered, her voice suddenly laced with urgency. "I won't let you die here, and not now.

Her hand pressed harder against my wound, glowing faintly with an energy I couldn't comprehend. The pain was overwhelming, yet it was her words that truly pierced through the haze clouding my mind.

"But first," she said in a voice like thunder wrapped in silk, "you must make a deal with me."

A deal?

Even through the burning in my chest and the darkness pulling at my soul, my heart stuttered. My lips parted, trembling.

"W-What kind of deal?" I rasped, barely able to get the words out.

She leaned closer, her eyes glowing with something ancient, something powerful. "One that will change everything. Your life, your path... and your vengeance."

The world spun, shadows dancing at the edge of my vision. I could feel it-whatever this was, it wasn't just about survival. It was about rebirth. Power. Darkness.

And deep down, I knew...

I am no longer the same.

The girl I was-the hopeful Luna, the betrayed lover, the broken offering-died the moment Jason's blade tore through me.

What rose now, in pain and blood, was something else.

Something... more.
