CHAPTER 4
In a dimly lit study in the palace, Alpha Ethan stood beside a desk, his fingers drumming incessantly on it. Every second, his gaze would drift to the door, hoping, waiting.
Tension coiled in him. Sweat dribbled on his forehead. He stood from the desk, and began to pace the length of her office.
He was troubled. So troubled at the Lycan Twins' arrival. He never would have expected the sudden turn of events. He couldn't have.
Who would have thought that his carefully laid-out plan would turn this way in the span of minutes?
Why do they have to come ruin everything?
He had been planning this for months! Months, until it finally worked out. Until he finally found a way to get rid of the obstacles in his path.
Surely, those twins wouldn't jeopardize his plans? Would they?
It wasn't exactly news that the Lycan Twins, with their formidable appearance, could get their hands on what or whoever they desired. The werewolf realm is not a match for them. Not in the very least.
But....surely they wouldn't interfere in his business this way....right? Alycia had committed a crime, and she needed to face the punishment, come what may!
As much as he worried, he couldn't help but wonder why they had taken her. What gave them the fucking right to lay a hand on her?
Ethan was angry and confused. Angry because they stopped him from taking her out of the way.
Confused, because he had absolutely no idea what they were planning, or had in mind.
Alycia was his. His to ruin and His, to do as he pleases.
"You have to relax..." Soft warm hands held him from the back, cutting off his thoughts, "You have been standing in the same spot for hours, Ethan. I can literally feel the rage emanating from you."
He slowly turned, and caught her eyes. Light brown eyes stared back at him worriedly.
He ran a hand in his hair, his breath coming out in shaky gasps. His eyes were frantic, darting at the door every second, "I can not help but worry, Maya. We are talking about the Lycan Twins here! They have a very strong hold over this pack, even when your parents are alive. I can't let them ruin what we have planned, Maya. I can't!"
Maya heaved a sigh. The mention of her parents caused a dark shadow to pass over her eyes. Deep within her, she felt bad for what they had done. But they deserved it.
Her parents always doted on Alycia so much. Paid her so much attention, and made her,(Maya), feel like an outcast.
She felt absolutely no remorse for her actions. Growing up, she had always wanted to be Luna. She had always wanted to learn the stuff Alycia was granted. She always wanted more. More than she was allowed to.
But she was just the younger sister, and to them, they were doing her a favor shielding her from all of this.
Her plan began when she found her mate, Ethan, who was supposedly mated to Alycia.
A chuckle escaped her lips as she recalled how Alycia had foolishly fallen into her plans so easily.
She saw herself so much in him. She saw that hungry glint in his eyes.
Maya was a conniving lady. She was greedy, and wanted so much more for herself. She believed that the world didn't treat her fairly, but she also believed so much in the fact that she could definitely rewrite her fate.
They had come this far. Yes, she was worried about the Lycan Twins' appearance. She waited to see what exactly they wanted, and then they could decide how to dance to the tune.
"One step at a time. Relax," she said in a reassuring tone, and wrapped a hand over his neck.
Ethan opened his mouth to say something. But closed it right back. The truth was, he was a bit scared.
He was scared of Alycia making a comeback through the help of the twins. He didn't tell Maya that he had been having nightmares of her, which was why he was so tensed up and couldn't relax.
Suddenly, the door burst open, slamming against the wall with so much force, causing Ethan's eyes to widen in shock.
The twins stepped into the room.
King Lucien and Rowan.
Their overbearing presence filled the air, their huge frame towering at the door.
Taking one determined step after the other, the Twins moved forward. Parting a bit to reveal Alycia slowly stepping in the middle.
Ethan's breath hitched, his eyes widening for a split second, as he stared at the three standing before him. He could feel his heart quicken as he met Alycia's eyes. His fingers dug into his palms, as he seethed inwardly.
"My Lords," he bowed slightly, his voice almost giving away his frustration.
Maya, on the other hand, had her jaw dropped in astonishment. She didn't get to see the twins up close earlier, but nothing could have expected her for the sight before her.
Her knees almost gave out at the commanding presence they instilled, but goodness gracious, they were beautiful!
Her mouth opened and closed, unable to say a single word. But when her gaze settled on Alycia standing in the middle, a sour hateful look clouded her face.
Her eyes trailed down her body. Alycia looked more like herself. She was no longer in the tattered dress from earlier, she was draped in a simple beige-colored dress, which went down a little above her knees.
Something in her gaze made her shiver, but she clenched her fists, composing herself to see what was about to happen.
Letting in a huge breath, she didn't realize the twins had their gaze on her. Puzzled, she blinked, unable to understand.
A sharp gasp escaped her lips when she realized what they meant. She shook her head slightly, and forced a bow at them.
With a murmured excuse, she let her feet lead her, and sauntered out of the room.
