Chapter 4 The Last Goodbye

Flipping through the phone book, looking at the list of more than two to three hundred people, there was still no one he was looking for.

That person, until now, had never called him, so there was no way to contact him.

He didn't know where that person was, how he lived, and what he was doing.

Since their teenage years, they hadn't seen each other again, so they didn't even have a mutual friend.

That person really knew how to hide his feelings, and never bothered the person he loved.

It was also that person, when this city was attacked, suddenly appeared by his side, giving him courage, making him feel at ease.

When food was increasingly scarce, that person was like entering a tiger's den to find food to keep him warm and full.

Or when he was surrounded by zombies, that person let go of his hand, luring the zombies away, giving him a chance to survive.

If he was loved by someone like that, then how would his greedy heart feel satisfied in the future?

Mike didn't know, at this moment he was standing at a crossroads, not knowing which way to go.

Mike knew that person would look for him, just like in his previous life...

But he was afraid, afraid that he would have to see that resolute back figure once more.

If he left, then where would he go to find that person, at a time when the world was in danger, he was afraid that missing out would be a lifelong regret.

Mike kept thinking, but as soon as he thought of it, he immediately denied it, until nightfall, he still couldn't find a satisfactory answer.

In the end, all that was left was a helpless sigh.

The city was bustling, every window had lights on.

Mike still maintained a pace that was neither fast nor slow, as if he was saying goodbye to this splendid city.

When the May prophecy appeared, many people asked, if tomorrow was the end of the world, what would you do?

Looking at the street lamps that kept drifting backwards, Mike also wanted to ask himself this question, unfortunately, this was not a hypothesis.

Mike wanted to do many things, like get drunk, then smash the piano while cursing.

Or try a little taste of 419 (one night stand), or sell the photo of himself in a duck costume to see how much he could get.

Or maybe he would rush in front of Fred, grab his shirt, and loudly question: You damn bastard, why did you always bully me when you were little, but when you grew up you loved me to the point of death?

Or else, catch some dog couple and watch them act out a 3D adult movie for fun.

Thinking about it over and over again, Mike felt that he was crazy. However, when he thought about how even high-level primates were about to degenerate to the point of becoming food for zombies, he felt that he was still quite normal.

Crazy people were the whole world.

Thinking so much, Mike finally went to the Gathering House to eat a few dishes, perhaps he would never have the chance to eat again.

Just one meal was worth a year's salary for an ordinary worker, but this was not the most expensive delicacy he had ever eaten, but because he was always alone, he rarely indulged in such luxury. He conveniently went to the bank to check his account, there was still a considerable amount left.

He decided to go to the mall to shop.

This amount of money was a humiliation to him before.

But now, there was nothing he could let go of, it was just the fact that he was an illegitimate child.

Bought quite a few expensive clothes and shoes, he even spent time on game consoles.

Suddenly he saw a store that specialized in selling battlefield equipment, Mike looked around for a bit and then walked into the store.

All kinds of shiny goods were right in front of him, the most of which were tents, but he didn't need them. He

looked at a few sharp knives, although they weren't big, they were better than nothing.

He picked out a large pile of other strange things.

Although he had prepared a lot of food, he still wanted to buy some snacks.

Standing on the bridge in the city center, looking at the dark river reflecting the lights, he swung his hand and threw the card down.

Unexpectedly, when the card fell, it suddenly emitted a flash of light, and in a flash, it shattered into small pieces.

Mike was stunned for a moment, he only wanted to throw the card into the river, why did it shatter like that.

Looking at his hand, he looked around cautiously.

Except for the passing vehicles, there were no pedestrians, he didn't think twice, and hurriedly drove away.

Just as he returned to the villa, his cell phone suddenly rang, a series of unfamiliar numbers appeared on the screen.

Hearing that voice that seemed unfamiliar but hard to forget, his heart felt a little lost for some reason.

"What's the matter?"

The person calling seemed to be a little hesitant, or as if they didn't know how to arrange their words, so they remained silent for a while.

"You... have you been well recently?"

Mike took the phone and walked into the living room, because this was the only place with a bed: "Not bad."

"Well, that's good, San ran..."

Holding the phone and waiting for a while, seeing that the other party seemed to have nothing more to say, Mike was a little impatient: "If you have something to say, then say it, what exactly is it!"

The other side was clearly stunned. Mike had always spoken to him gently and elegantly before, never using this kind of tone, so his unease deepened.

"No, dad is fine. San, if you need help with anything, just tell dad. If you don't have enough money, just tell dad, dad will send it."

In his previous life, he didn't answer this phone call. After all, this was probably the last time, he should talk to his father once.
