Chapter 2 Two

Tabitha

"Sirius!" I screamed in fear.

Not because I was afraid for myself but because of the little pumpkin growing inside my belly.

My unborn child.

My precious miracle.

"Why did you have me kidnapped?" I demanded, my voice trembling with anger and fear.

Sirius let out a mocking laugh.

"Is that even a question to ask, Tabitha? You and your dear husband have been searching high and low for me, but you failed."

He smirked cruelly.

"I thought it would be more fun if I brought the game to you instead."

I gritted my teeth, glaring at him with every ounce of hatred in my body.

"You will regret every damn thing you've done," I hissed.

"Your doom is near, Sirius. Just wait."

His smile twisted into something darker.

He walked up to me, and before I could react, his hand came crashing across my face in a harsh slap.

Pain exploded across my cheek.

"Fear for yourself first," he snarled.

"Because nobody is coming to save you."

He snapped his fingers, signaling to the men lurking at the far end of the warehouse.

They rushed forward, grabbing me roughly by both arms, holding me so tightly I couldn't move.

I tried to call on my wolf, to shift and fight back.

But the moment I reached for her, a wave of weakness flooded through me.

The silver.

I realized with a sickening jolt whatever had pierced me earlier was laced with silver.

My wolf was too weak, too hurt to answer my call.

I was on my own.

Before I could react, I felt a sharp prick on the side of my neck.

I gasped and turned my head slightly.

It wasn't a wolf.

It was a human,he has no scent of a pack, no aura of a wolf ,only the cold, clinical presence of a doctor.

"I've injected her with the wolfsbane," the doctor said flatly, adjusting his glasses as he turned to Sirius.

"Good," Sirius said with a wicked grin.

"You'll soon have your chance to carry out whatever little experiments you have planned with her."

The doctor with the goggles nodded once and quietly walked away into the shadows.

Sirius turned back to me, his smile filled with cruel promise.

"But first," he whispered, stepping closer, "let me have a little fun with the precious tracer."

My name is Tabitha,a tracer. My husband and I descend from a long line of werewolf trackers, guardians of our kind. For generations, our family has hunted those who threaten the balance between the supernatural and human worlds.

Sirius was once one of us. But his heart turned dark. After being banished for his crimes, he vowed revenge. He began abducting wolf children, handing them over to his human ally, the doctor for cruel experiments. Their twisted partnership has left countless families shattered.

For years, my husband and I have pursued Sirius, following whispers and shadows. We even crossed into the human world, hoping to find leads in places he might hide.

And now, here I stand, face-to-face with the monster we've hunted for so long.

Sirius poured a foul-smelling liquid over my body, its pungent aroma burning my nostrils. I recognized it immediately,a concoction designed to mask my scent, preventing my husband from tracking me.

Summoning the last of my strength, I initiated a mind-link a rare and draining technique taught only to tracers. It would sap my energy, but I had to reach him.

"Love... I'm here. He has me. The warehouse... near the old docks..." I projected, my thoughts barely coherent.

Suddenly, searing pain erupted in my side. Sirius had plunged a silver knife into me, severing the connection instantly. The agony was blinding.

"You bitch," he snarled, delivering a brutal slap that sent my head snapping to the side.

"I will have you killed, and your entire family erased. No more tracer lineage to stand in my way."

Blood trickled from my split lip as I met his gaze, defiance burning in my eyes. I spat the blood onto his face.

"I'll see you try, dumbass," I hissed.

I thought within myself I needed to buy time.

Time to think.

Time to keep my baby safe.

Time for my mate to find me.

So I forced myself to stay upright, swallowing the pain, blinking through the blood and tears blurring my vision.

"You're just a psychopath who wishes to belong," I said, voice hoarse but sharp. "You want love. Acceptance. A place. That's what all this is about, isn't it, Sirius?"

His eyes narrowed.

"Shut up."

"No." I pushed, ignoring the throb in my ribs. "You're not doing this for power. You're doing it because you were never enough. Not for the pack. Not for yourself. You think if you destroy everything that rejected you, it'll make you whole again."

He stepped closer, rage flickering in his gaze. "You think you know me?"

"I do know you," I said, my voice steadying. "You still smell like one of us, Sirius. Your soul hasn't completely turned. That's why you cling to the humans, because they're weaker. Easier to manipulate. But they'll never accept you. Not truly. You're still a wolf."

He grabbed a handful of my hair, jerking my head back. "They are more loyal than the pathetic excuse of a pack that cast me out!"

I winced but refused to look away. "The same humans who've tormented our kind for centuries? You trust them over your own blood? Your own people?"

He hesitated, just for a heartbeat. Just enough.

I pressed on. "It's not too late. You can stop this. You can walk away from the doctor, from the madness. Let me go. Let my baby live."

His expression flickered. Then the mask slammed back down.

"I see what you're doing," he said, tone cold. "You think if you keep talking, your precious mate will swoop in and save you. You think I'm weak."

I shook my head, a slow, deliberate movement. "I think you're scared. Of what you've become. Of what your reflection shows you."

For a second, Sirius looked like he might strike me again. But then a guttural growl echoed from deeper within the warehouse, sharp and low.

His eyes darted to the shadows.

I smiled through the blood. "Too late."

The wind shifted.

And with it, the unmistakable scent of my mate filled the air.

He was coming.

Sirius's snarl was feral. "Secure her! Now!"
