Chapter 4
I gently brushed my hands on my face as the rays of sun pressed over my closed eyelids, urging me awake.
A soft sigh escaped my lips as I calmly touched my chest underneath the blanket-only to freeze.
I was naked.
And underneath a blanket?
I had been wrapped in a warm furry blanket from my neck to my toes that smelled of chocolate and vanilla. The scent felt sweet and safe as if I was home.
As I stirred I heard a man's deep voice jolt me back to reality.
"Thank goodness, you're finally awake" the strange man spoke, his voice sagged with relief while walking closer to me.
I blinked startled, clutching the blanket tightly around myself.
"Who...who are you and what have you done to me?" I questioned the strange man whose face I hadn't seen but his voice. His voice made goosebumps crawl on my skin.
As he approached me I had a clear view of his handsome face and beautiful blue eyes
Wait,
Blue eyes?
The same blue eyes that had saved me from the rogues?
"I am Dante, son of King Jon. I'm the crown prince of the Lycans milady" he introduced himself smoothly, his voice rich with authority.
His gaze held mine as he continued "And I can assure you I have done no harm to you nor will I let any harm befall you" he said while staring calmly at me with those bewitching eyes.
"And you?" He questioned softly.
I stiffened.
The Lycan prince?
My eyes bulged as though they wanted to burst out of their sockets.
How on Earth did I end up in the presence of a lycan?
And not just any lycan but the prince of Lycans, sworn enemy of our pack.
I mean Nightfall pack.
And why in the name of the moon goddess can't I get my eyes off his face?
Wait a minute.
What was the Lycan prince doing so close to the nightfall pack? Would it be okay to tell him I was from the Nightfall pack? Or should I just save my neck and be on my way unscathed like I never met him?
My throat went dry as I tried to gather my thoughts.
" I...I am Kira" I stuttered in a low voice
"Kira"
My name rolled off his tongue so tenderly and sweet. I had no idea my name could sound so heavenly.
But his next words brought me back to my senses.
"Where are you from Kira? and what were you doing out there on your own?"
I held my breath as my heart began to thump in a frenzy manner as I lowered my gaze to the blanket. If I tell him I'm from the Nightfall pack he might never let me see the light of day again, well what's a girl to do?
"I don't.."
Before I could complete my sentence his voice cuts in.
"It's fine if you don't want to talk about it, considering the condition you were in I think it's understandable if you don't want to speak about it now."
As I gently raised my eyes to glance at him,
Big mistake.
I caught him staring at me with those... beautiful blue eyes. My heart missed some beats.
"Stay with me, till your bruises heal and you're strong enough again to leave" he said in a deep throaty voice that made something stir deep inside my belly.
"When I found you, you were being attacked by rogues, if I hadn't arrived on time well... " He trailed off, his expression darkening. "And if you leave right now in your condition I don't think you'd go far as they are more rogues roaming this parts"
Fear crept down my veins and bloodstream. He was right I wouldn't get far with rogues roaming free, I wouldn't survive at all
A lump formed in my throat as I whispered. "Thank you, Your Majesty,"
I had heard so many stories about Lycan and how brutal, ruthless and merciless they could be, but this lycan standing in front of me was the opposite. He was calm, nice and kind.
He let out a soft chuckle as he moved closer to me.
"Call me Dante, Kira" he said as he leaned closer to me, placing both his hands on my sides.
"Ohhhhh" I whispered as I noticed how his muscles bulged.
I bit my lip the moment the small sound escaped me. Had I really just made that noise out loud?
"You need to rest," he murmured, his voice low and hoarse. "As long as you're here with me I'll keep you safe and when you're fit enough to leave I'll have my men escort you to your desired destination" he spoke as his gaze kept on flickering between my eyes and my lips.
His chocolate and vanilla scent swept across my nose more than it had earlier.
That's when it occurred to me.
The blanket belonged to him which meant...
I was in his tent and on his bed.
My cheeks flushed at the realization.
I forced myself to nod my head in agreement as he slowly pulled away.
I was about to ask him who had discarded my clothes but that would warrant him leaning over again and I would sniff him again.
I couldn't do that.
With yet another soft gaze and sweet smile, he walked out of the tent going along with his sweet scent.
The moment he was gone, I let out a shaky breath.
I closed my eyes as the images of the previous day's events ran through my mind.
I had really been banished without a just reason.
What had I done wrong to Alpha Asher?
Why would he do that to me?
I couldn't still wrap my head around what had transpired that day between me and Alpha Asher.
He had stared at me with concern, and then everything changed. But why?
My hands clenched into fists beneath the blanket.
I hadn't done anything wrong, why had his countenance changed and he suddenly banished me without another glance?
The memory made my heart swell with sadness and tears glistened in my eyes. "Mother... I miss you"
And suddenly, I felt weaker than usual.
What's happening to me?
My head banged and just like that everywhere went dark and still.
