Chapter 2 A Golden Opportunity

Hours have passed and time didn't seem to go by fast. It's Midnight, Martina is finding a hard time sleeping. Her heart pounded each second she had the thought that her life and her that of her family's could be at risk.

"I need to sort out help, we can't keep living like this, "I" can't continue living like this. I know my parents are hiding something and I'll find out what it is, I'm so tired of living in fear!" Her thoughts racing, her heart pounded worriedly.

Her phone rings...

"Hmm, who could that be by this time?"

"Oh it's Hayley." A soft smile crossed Martina's face as she grabbed her phone.

She answers the phone-- "Hey girl, haven't you heard the lastest update? Dominic Castellano is in town! Hayley voice bubbled with excitement."

"What? Who's Dominic?" Martina's brows furrowed in confusion.

"Well.... He's one of the top ruthless billionaire's in the country. Girl have you seen his physical appearance? He's a 6'1 fine wine, with Sharp Jawline, short black hair and impeccable attire. He's also made merciless deals with the biggest druglords,he literally stop at nothing to succeed. I bet it's because of his cunning, ambitious and power-hungry traits. But he's really cold and authoritative tho, I guess that why he's feared by people." Hayley's eyes sparkled as she exclaimed.

"Woah, woah, woah, slow down my love". Martina chuckled.

"Did you just say Druglord? Like Nacrotraffiker? Crime Lord? Illegal business which also involves guns and actual killings?"

He sounds horrible! By the way why are you telling me this? Martina's eyes narrowed slightly as she asked.

"Omg Martina, you must be the fun at parties! Hayley rolled her eyes.

"Anyways, I'm telling you because this might be good news for you, in fact it might change your life entirely!

Martina's eyes widens in shock as she immediately jumps of the bed.

"Wait, how'd you mean? How's a Druglord supposed to change my life? You know I can't get involved, he's a criminal and you know my parents, they'd never allow it. Besides by the way you just described him I don't want to get involved with a self centered and ruthless person like him!" She said nervously as she bites her fingers.

"Relax sweetheart, when I said " Change your life entirely " I didn't mean like marry him or join him in the business or something! You didn't let me finish..." Hayley murmured softly.

"Phew! You scared me for a bit, so what did you mean, how do I even get in touch with him?" Martina asked still biting her fingers.

"Exactly why I called you! You see... News has it that Dominic's looking for a new personal assistant here in Warrington and I just know you'd be the right person for the job. Since you're now 18, a fully grown adult, you'll be needing a job love." Hayley said with a hopeful smile.

"Oh Hayley, I know you mean well for me and I truly appreciate that with all my heart," Martina's voice trembled as she spoke. "But you know I can't apply for the job, my parents would have a heart attack if they find out I crossed that damn gate, talk less of applying for a job, I'm so sorry but I can't possibly accept this opportunity." Her eyes welling in tears.

"Girl I understand what you're going through but I beg get you do not allow this golden opportunity pass you by. Your parents don't have know! You'll be really quick, just a sneak out and in. I'm pretty sure the interview won't be too long. By the way, you have a balcony by your room right? Hayley eyes sparked with determination.

Martina sighed. "I guess you're right, I really need this job, I need the money too to probably start a life because I can't keep living under the shadows of my parents, I need my freedom and besides like you just said I'm an adult now, It's time I take charge of my life."

That's the spirit girl! Hayley faced lightened up with excitement. "I'm so glad you're taking this opportunity, when I saw the news about Dominic looking for a personal assistant, I instantly thought of you because I know what you're going through and this is your ticket to freedom. I am so rooting for you!"

"Stop you're going to make me cry..." A smile crossed Martina's face as she wipes away her tears.

"I still literally remember how you've always been there for me when I started school, you always defended and stood by me no matter what, even when I got bullied, the other students called me weird and mocked me because I was the only one different from them, I couldn't play with them because I didn't even know how to socialize. You are and will always be my best friend, I love you so much" Martina's voice filled with emotion.

Hayley's voice softened as she whispers."I love you too, babe."

"Now get some sleep bestie, you don't want to be late for your big interview! I'll text you the location of his business firm." Hayley chimed blowing a kiss.

Oh and by the way, you two might even hit things off, did I mention he's really charming and has seductive eyes... Not to mention you been so beautiful and attractive. I'm lowkey hoping for some office romance! She teased, wiggling her eyebrows.

Uhm hell no! This is strictly for business okay? He's definitely not my type and let's be real, he's a Druglord and I'm just a modest girl. We're from two different worlds, we can't possibly work out. Martina murmured, her lips curling into a gentle smile as she bit them softly.

"Okay, okay. Sleep well okay? Hayley yawned accompanied with a gentle smile.

"Goodnight, Love you!" Martina hangs up.

"I feel so relieved! After some many years, this is the day I finally sleep with a smile on my face and a joyous heart." Her hand gripping her chest softly.

"I really can't wait to see what the outside world has install for me." She graps her pillow gentle, snuggles it and falls asleep.
