It had been two weeks since that wild night, and Dahlia was trying her best to keep everything together. Work at the cafe was as busy as ever, and she tried not to let the lingering thoughts about that night and the mysterious guy distract her. But life moved on, and there were still things she had to take care of.
That morning, while preparing for her shift, Dahlia bumped into Martha, Ziko's wife, i was so happy to see her. Martha was always easy to talk to, and today, as Dahlia brewed the coffee, they struck up one of their usual chats.
"How's your brother doing?" Martha asked with a warm smile. "You mentioned something about him going to prom soon, right?"
Dahlia smiled at the thought of Delijah. "Yeah, today's the big day. He's excited but nervous. It's his first prom, and I swear, he looks way too grown up already."
Martha raised an eyebrow. "That's wonderful! Time flies, doesn't it?"
"It really does," Dahlia replied, a little wistful. "I'm happy for him, though. He deserves to enjoy this. It's been a lot for him, with everything that's happened over the years."
"I bet. It's good to see him getting a chance to just be a teenager. I'm sure he'll have a great time."
Dahlia's thoughts drifted to her brother for a moment, her heart swelling with pride. "I hope so. He deserves it."
Martha gave her a reassuring smile. "You're a good sister. He's lucky to have you."
Dahlia smiled back, grateful for the compliment. "I try my best. He's my world."
" Ohh and about that dinner i hope to see you two soon" she smiled that smile that could brighten a room.
After a few more friendly exchanges, Martha waved goodbye and left, leaving Dahlia feeling a little lighter. As the day continued, she focused on getting through her shift, though a small part of her was already thinking about Delijah and how he'd look tonight, all grown up in his tuxedo.
Later that evening, when she returned home, Delijah was already in full prep mode, adjusting his tie in front of the mirror, looking a little unsure of himself. Dahlia chuckled as she walked in, crossing the room to stand beside him.
"You look great," she said, fixing his collar. "Don't worry, you're going to impress everyone tonight."
Delijah's nervous smile returned. "I hope so."
Just then, a knock on the door made him freeze. Dahlia gave him an encouraging nudge. "Go ahead. I'll be right here."
He rushed to the door, and a moment later, a petite brunette stood at the entrance, dressed in a beautiful prom gown. Dahlia could see right away why Delijah had a crush on her. She was striking, with delicate features and a graceful presence. The two exchanged a polite hello, and Dahlia welcomed the girl inside.
"This is Mia," Delijah said, his voice a little shaky. "Mia, this is my sister, Dahlia."
Mia smiled warmly. "Nice to meet you, Dahlia. Delijah talks about you all the time."
Dahlia raised an eyebrow playfully, catching Delijah's embarrassed expression. "I hope it's all good things."
Mia blushed slightly, glancing at Delijah. "I think so."
Dahlia chuckled. "Well, you both look great. You'll have a blast tonight. Go ahead and get going, or you'll be late."
As the two of them walked out, Delijah offering his arm to Mia, Dahlia stood by the door, watching them go. A mix of pride and bittersweetness filled her chest. Her little brother was growing up, and though it was hard to let go, she was happy he was finding his own place in the world.
