Chapter 4 Two side of a coin

Erica's anger was still intact as she gritted her teeth when she stepped inside. She ignored Lupa, who always liked to compete with her for things; Caleb's sudden betrayal cut her even deeper! Erica's sudden appearance momentarily stunned the two people on the sofa who were engaging in their daytime profligacy.

Eventually, being shameless people by nature, they never moved a bit when they saw Erica step in through the opened door, quickly returning to their calm demeanor.

Lupa leisurely dismounted from Caleb's body, even giving Erica a disdainful glance, before walking naturally into their bedroom to change clothes.

However, Lupa's familiar appearance shattered the last trace of hope in Erica's heart. She was indeed foolish! Lupa was so familiar with this place, indicating she had been here more than once! She even seemed more like the host of this house than Erica herself!

Caleb showed no intention of avoiding the situation. He casually lit a cigarette, reclining on the sofa, exhaling smoke clouds, and spoke with extreme disdain.

"What's wrong with you, Erica? Have you lost your manners overnight? Don't you know how to knock when you come in?" Erica was stunned, tears of anger welling up in her eyes.

Tell me. Did she need their permission to come into her own house? How shameless could these two people be!

"Why? I've been loyal to you and tried my best to be a good wife. Why would you treat me like trash?" Erica stared fixedly into Caleb's eyes.

Once, she had loved those warm and tender eyes with all she had; it was so exciting and captivating. But now she realized what swirled in those eyes was not warmth, but conspiracy. Caleb sneered, his refined face softening a bit, his usually gentle eyes now filled with derision and mockery.

"Erica, to say you're stupid, you truly are! You heard what was said just now; what else is there to explain?" Erica's eyes also turned red as she raised her voice.

"I just want a justification! A good, just justification for why you betrayed me! You were the one who wooed me first; you promised me a lifetime of happiness, but now? You colluded with Lupa to set me up?"

Caleb calmly looked at Erica, whose emotions were on the verge of collapse, his eyes showing no emotion. He nonchalantly blew a smoke ring, extinguishing the cigarette in the ashtray. "Huh! Betray who... you? "Huh! I don't think so."

Lupa emerged from inside, dressed in the clothes Erica immediately recognized as hers, the set of clothes Caleb had specifically gifted her on her birthday. At the time, she had wondered why the size seemed off, but since it was the first gift Caleb had ever given her, she had said nothing and carefully stored it in the closet.

Now, if everything was clear, the clothes were not meant for her. They were clearly Lupa's size! Lupa gave Caleb a dissatisfied look.

"What's with all this foolish discussion with her?"

At that moment Erica's mind was already in chaos, staggering backward two steps. Lupa stepped forward aggressively.

"Erica, since you're so eager to know the truth, I'll tell you straight if Caleb refuses. Caleb and I have known each other longer than you. We've been together for almost five years!"

Erica's legs gave out, and she fell to the ground, realizing it was indeed true!

She felt so much hatred and resentment towards them!

"Then why can't he leave me in peace? Why did Caleb actively pursue me?" Erica twisted her questions, wanting to hear the truth, no matter how ugly it was!

"Oh! What do you think you are? Some celestial being worthy of Caleb's pursuit? If it weren't for your family's inheritance, I wouldn't even bother with you!" Erica felt waves of darkness enveloping her vision. She bit her lips harder, the pain from her lips helping her regain some semblance of rationality.

Her hands clenched into fists, nails digging deeply into her palms, yet she seemed not to feel the pain at all.

She wanted to hear and know more of their atrocities! She wanted to understand everything clearly! She wanted to unravel the causes and consequences of this situation, to remember who owed her and who betrayed her! From now on, she, Erica, would completely cut ties with these despicable people!

With things having reached this point, Erica had completely calmed down. She understood everything now. It turned out that what they valued was just the assets left behind by her grandfather.

Without hesitation, slowly rising from the ground, tears already streaming down her face, Erica's heart was dead, her tears. unable to flow anymore. She felt like all the blood in her body had congealed, her heart colder than ice. Trembling, she looked at Ron in despair.

"Now I get it; you never loved me, did you?

"Erica, stop being ridiculous! Do you think asking such questions is meaningful?" Caleb didn't answer; instead, Lupa groaned like she'll attack her with her claws as she took over. But Erica stubbornly kept staring at Caleb, as if she wouldn't relent until he answered!

Caleb's face darkened mildly, a hint of impatience creeping in.

"What the heck is wrong with you, dumb? Or is your brain damaged overnight? We've already explained things so clearly, yet you still ask if I ever loved you. Fool! Just seeing you makes me nauseous. How could I ever have feelings for you?"

"Bang!"

Erica felt the last chance of hope in her heart shatter. Her eyes swollen with tears, she unexpectedly calmed down when facing this man, with whom she had spent more than three hundred days and nights.

"No problem, let's go our separate ways; let's get divorced!"

"Divorced?!" Caleb was startled by her sudden resolution.

"Yes, since you and Lupa love each other, I'll go my way from you two!"

"Erica, you're too unreasonable! Oh! You want a divorce"? Ha-ha-ha... No way!"

Erica was confused, her mind mixed up. What did this mean?

A quick trace of disdain flashed in Caleb's eyes as he exchanged a glance with Lupa. He giggles first, then Lupa went into the room and brought out a few sheets of paper, tossing them in front of Erica.

"Okay! If that's what you want, sign this first!" Originally thinking it was a divorce agreement paper, Erica, upon seeing the contents, felt her scalp shiver and her vision darken.

Instead of a divorce paper, this was any agreement paper at all; it was a property transfer list. The agreement stated that Erica voluntarily transferred all the inheritance to her husband, Caleb, to compensate him for the emotional damage caused by her infidelity. This was their plan!

Erica's heart ached with anger. How could they be this greedy and shameless!

The new revelation made her anger rise more. With a trembling hand holding the agreement, she said, "You two are the most loathsome pair of rascals I've ever known!" Lupa grumbled at her, sitting arrogantly on the sofa opposite her, crossing her legs, and trimming her nails apathetically.

"Say whatever you have to say, wolfless bitch; just sign the contract when you're done cursing." Erica, furious, felt her head throb. She squeezed her eyes together, the taste of her blood pressure helping her boil. With a few quick movements, she tore up the agreement and threw it in Caleb's face.

"Choke on that! That inheritance belongs to me and nobody else. It was left to me by my grandfather and has nothing to do with you two! I'll definitely divorce you, but you won't get a penny!" After saying this, Erica made a turn, left her spot, and felt nauseous about everything in that place.

Lupa stomped her feet in anger, pouting as she said to Caleb,

"Caleb, look what you've done; she's so mean to you!"

"Don't worry, I can see that she can't escape from here! Caleb pulled Lupa into his arms, his eyes flashing with a chill light.

As Erica left the building, she realized she had nowhere to go! Standing pitiful on the bustling street of Rockwood, amidst the throng of people walking on the street, she felt abandoned by the world overnight. She had no home, no purity, and even the love she once believed in turned out to be a sham!

"And I don't have that stranger!" She mused thoughtfully as she resentfully smiled, unable to control the tears from streaming down her eyes!

Her mind still reeling on what she just found out, it was too immense for her to endure; this blow left her physically and emotionally exhausted. Until Erica's head throbbed and her vision blurred, she tried to fight it but she collapsed unconscious on the street.
