Chapter 3 She likes bad guys

" Yes! Beat him to death " Peter was shouting excitedly, " Look at this bastard's face! How dare he say those words, huh! "

" Now, that's my girl! Beat him, Claire! You are learning my way really quick, haha! Only you deserve to be my wife. I'll treat you better in the future. Beat this bastard!"

Peter along with his lackeys were laughing while watching William being beaten by Claire as his hands were held captive on either sides. However, William didn't cry for help or asked her to stop beating even for once. He only glared the boys laughing at him coldly while suppressing his moan. He received all the beating while keeping his back straight which somehow annoyed Peter.

" Why did you stop beating him?" Peter asked coldly at Claire's halt

" I think it's enough!" she responded with cold voice.

" How can it be enough? This bastard has not shed a drop of tears yet, " Peter snorted, " I think you are tired of beating him. After all, you are just a girl. How can your soft hands hold the thick rod for too long. You step aside. I'll beat him until he cries."

Claire bit her lips as she looked up at Peter with unknown thoughts. Her hands holding the rod clenched and she tried her best to keep that rod in her hand but soon it was taken away by Peter as he grinned devilishly before smirking, " I'll see how you keep your face straight when I beat you into a plump."

Peter raised his hands with the rod to beat William, Claire frowned.

" Young Master Peter! Hold on... " a boy rushed in while breathing heavily, making Peter pause his hands in the air as he shorted at him, " What happened?"

" Young Master! Mr. Knight is back at the Villa and he is asking for you."

Peter's eyes bewildered in fear. He threw the rod aside and bent down only to meet William's dark eyes to threaten him, " If you say a word about it to my father or anyone else, you are DEAD!"

After throwing out the cold warning, Peter left in a hurry. Claire glanced at William with complicated expression but soon she too made her way out. When everyone had gone, only then did he relax his muscles while groaning in pain,

" Brother William! Are you alright?" Suddenly, Mia's soft voice sounded as she rushed up to him with worried eyes, saying excitedly, " Someone told me you were beaten. I have brought first-aid kid for you. Was it my brother again? Did he beat you like this? "

William smiled bitterly as he said, " It was not your brother this time. It was that girl who beat me like this."

" A girl? Who? All the girls who are adopted by my father help the maids in the kitchen. No one stays here early in the morning, " Mia said innocently.

"H-her name was Claire! That's what with which your brother was addressing her. " William said while groaning as Mia started cleaning his wounds.

" Sister Claire? How could she beat you? There is no way that she will do something like that. You must have a misunderstanding here. She... She can't do this." Mia chuckled.

" He was even calling the girl his fiance. " William added while looking deeply into Mia's eyes. Mia's lips opened and then closed. She then looked up at him with puzzled eyes, " W-was it really sister Claire who beat you?"

William nodded while Mia sighed, saying, " Sister Claire is the kindest and gentlest girl I ever know. She is the only person here who cares about me. She... She can't do something like this. "

" Who is she?" William couldn't help asking about the girl he met just now.

" She... She is the daughter of Uncle Steve Evans. Her parents died in an accident two years ago. Dad brought her here and announced that she would marry my brother once they grow up to be adults."

" Steve Evans..." William repeated these words as the name rang a bell into his mind. He had heard this name before. He just recalled a news that he read two years ago.

Steve Evans was the richest man in the Night Fall. However, he died along with his wife in an accident. Fortunately, his only daughter Claire Evans survived the accident and was later adopted by Mr. Christ Knight who was the second richest man and also the business partner of Steve Evans. It was a breaking news two years ago that Mr. Knight, the philanthropist, not only adopted Claire Evans but also announced that he would get her married with his heir, Peter Knight, when they reach the right age.

Mia sighed in grief before adding, " Sister Claire is such a nice girl and my brother is such a bully. I feel so bad that she will have to marry him one day. But, she seems to like him. Brother William, can you tell me why she likes my brother? He is such a bad guy!"

" Maybe it's because she likes bad guys. " William replied without giving any thoughts about it. However, seeing Mia so serious about it, he couldn't help smiling. He asked her playfully, " How about you? "

" Me..?"

" Hm.... When you will grow up to be an adult, what kind of person will you like to be with?" William asked while staring deeply at her innocent eyes. Mia lowered her head as she said coyly, " The person who is kind and gentle to me."

William smiled, thinking, ' This girl is really innocent. But then again, all the girls of her age are kind and gentle... '

His thoughts suddenly got contradicted with the memory of Claire Evans. Remembering her cold and proud face, he thought, ' You are also a little girl just like Mia. Then why is it that you are so cold and ruthless while Mia is so kind and innocent? '
