Chapter 4 Hunter

Alex sighs as she stands up to take her leave "Thank you so much". She makes her way up to the elevator and as the elevator reaches the top floor the doors open revealing the penthouse suite.

The luxurious atmosphere and magnificent interior decor of the place was astonishing. She stepped in with awe and admiration of the place.

She hardly heard any footsteps but when she turned around she gasped in shock as there was someone standing behind her. She lifts up her eyes and sees the same guy she bumped into while leaving the elevator.

He stared at her for a while, "You must be Alexandra Vermont". "Yes I....." He abruptly cuts her off. "There's a button on the left side of the elevator, use it next time before you enter". "Yes sir" she was feeling a little embarrassed prior to their previous encounter.

"I believe Tiana was able to properly brief you on everything you need to know about how this works?" "Yes sir I really look forward to working with you and I hope I am able to meet your expectations".

He was calm and gentle but intense, staring her down as she spoke. "Hmmm" he mumbled. He turned, walked over and sat on the large black chair behind his desk facing the huge glass wall in front of him.

He handed her some documents laying on the table and asked that she review them before sending soft copies to Tiana "you can use the laptop on the counter" she turned and found a black apple laptop sitting on the bar counter, she opened it up and began her tasks.

The engine of the 1969 Chevrolet Nova growls in the distance the rustling of leaves and the peace of the nature filled atmosphere is interrupted by the sound of the shot from Lucas' rifle.

Loud thuds and growls as a werewolf struggles just metres away trying not to return to its normal human form as a result of the silver bullets in its hide. After much futile struggles, the wolf succumbs to the injuries and retreats leaving a wounded man on the ground.

His injuries were bad and the bullet wounds were deep but the werewolf inside was the only thing keeping him alive. Lucas immediately goes to the trunk of the car and draws out his own custom made silver sword, a four foot long really sharp blade made from pure silver.

He took out a bottle filled with blood and poured it on the sword, "April 14 2012" he said in an interrogative tone trying to speak to the human bleeding on the ground. "April 14 2012 you broke into a house, attacked and killed a woman in front of her daughter".

After catching a little breath "I don't know what you're talking about" the man says with a staggering tone "yeah of course I didn't think you would. I should be asking the beast within you but he doesn't seem like the talking type" "I can't move. What have you done to me" he said, gasping for air as the silver bullets in him took their toll, depriving him of most of his senses.

"It seems most of you don't know or understand your origins, but don't worry your suffering will soon be ended and I will not stop until you abominations have been eradicated from this earth and I will finally have my revenge".

He violently turned him over on his back and with one powerful thrust drove the blood dripping sword into his heart. The wolf within gave a loud howl beneath his screams, the birds scattered into the air from the trees in all directions, a pulse and a heart beating slower and slower until it stopped.

He gave a sigh and took his rifle in his arm and turned to head to the car. Something caught his eye. He sighted something in a distance beyond a line of trees stood an old cabin. "Must be his home" he thought to himself, he took a few steps closer, ever vigilant watching in every direction.

He approached the door and stretched out his hand to the knob, the door creaked open but there was no one home, just a fire flickering in the fireplace and a plate of food with crumbs of a finished meal. He looked up and saw an old painting of two brothers each wearing a silver ring.

One of the brothers was the dead body lying outside, so he knew there was another one. He looked around the house and found one of the rings lying on the side table, it had an engraving of the letter "S".

He took it with him and left after taking a photo of the portrait he hurried to his car and drove off leaving the dead body to send a message to the brother if and when he returned.
