This isn't how she designed her wedding pamphlet; she looked closer and discovered the bride's name wasn't hers, it was Marly's. She gasped, her eyes widened; even though she was sitting on the floor, she lost her strength as the room became smaller and started spinning, and she lost balance and fell flat on the floor.
It's clear now, she has been betrayed once more by her twin. But this time it stings more than before. Her twin has ripped her happiness. She had hijacked that thing that matters most in her life. "How...how..could she do this...to..me..." Merle stammered, her views became blurry, the hotel room spinning again, she heard the creak of the door, and then she managed to look up and saw a blurry figure peeping through the door.
Merle struggled up, and with all the strength she could muster, she stood halfway on her knees and held the door, trying to stop the figure from closing it, but she felt a very sharp pain on her head as she was hit with a strong object. She immediately let the door go and fell to the ground before everything went black.
Tick, Tick, Tick. Merle woke up to a sound which sounded like that of a life-supporting machine. Thinking she was in a hospital, she rushed up, but she was greeted with silence in the hotel room, and when her blurry eyes finally became clear, she noticed the sound was coming from the wall clock hanging on the wall.
"Can anyone hear me? Open this fucking door! I'll fucking sue this hotel when I come out of here!" She shouted, but no answer. Then her mind drifted to the pamphlet she saw before she passed out. She glanced around the room to see if it was lying somewhere, and then she found it.
"Brian, love, what are you doing right now? It's a pity you've married the wrong person, and you wouldn't even notice that. If you could just look a little closer, you'll find out your real wife is in danger." She whispered, tracing her hands on Brian's picture on the pamphlet."
Merle's helpless face reflected on how her wedding would have been, the spark, her union with the love of her life and living forever in love. All these brought tears to her eyes, thinking it couldn't happen because of her twin sister.
She stood up, drawn to her emotions, and dizzily sat on the bed thinking of what to do. "Would I survive this? Oh God", she hears the door creak and a thousand thoughts run through her mind at the same time and place.
"I will kill them all", her inner self thought. Looking for a weapon, she hurriedly went to the window's rails and brought out a sharp hook, preparing to fight and destroy anything that could stand in the way of her freedom.
The door sprang open, and lo and behold, Marly was standing at the side holding a piece of paper. By now, the wedding was long over, judging by the reflection of the sun. Horror was written all over Merle's face as Marly stepped in and shut the door behind her.
"Hey sis, how was your day?" Marly said with a smirk.
"Why are you doing this? I forgave you and welcomed you as my sister. Why then do you choose to do this and ruin what we have? It's not too late. Let me go. I don't want to hurt you," Merle spoke feebly.
"Oh shut your mouth, I don't have time for self-pity or absolute nonsense, I have better things to do like planning my honeymoon with my husband and running the company. Yes, you heard me well. Your company. People won't know you're"
Merle's face showed nothing but disgust for those words, and the thought of disappearing crossed her mind. It was an intense moment between the sisters, and a pandemic of silence swept through the floor. Merle had a plan to push her sister away and run away, but it was as if her sister caught up with her thoughts.
"Planning on running?" Marly glared at Merle with hatred.
"I despise you and plan on killing you, but I would not do that. You should be happy you're my twin. So I have decided to spare you anyway. But that's if you do something for me."
"And would that be?" Merle spoke in confusion. Her eyeballs were now almost coming out from several days of crying and hunger. She had refused to eat the dishes that had been passed to her daily before she thought of getting up each day. She had been there for a week now. Marly wasted no time. She signalled to one of her bodyguards, who handed a big brown envelope to Merle.
"Sign it", Marly commanded, handing a pen to Merle.
"I wouldn't dare sign anything I didn't know about." And I certainly won't give up without a fight. You can't just walk in after how many years and take what I worked hard for. You lie if you think you can take the life which belongs to me, you lie, twinny, I'll fight you with the last drop of my blood," she responded in a turmoil of pain. It was as if Merle's heart had been struck by lightning.
"Then we are gonna have to go the tough way then.", Merle said maliciously. Before anyone could react, Marly brought out a small sharp knife which she had kept in her purse, and with a swift movement, she got hold of Merle's hair and sliced through it, turning it to an equal length, shooting waves.
I can't kill her, that would make me a murderer, she thought and withdrew, leaving Merle in intense pain and sitting helplessly on the floor, her tears flowing freely. Several thoughts flashed through Merle's mind. Can someone just notify Brian so he could notice his real wife's absence and save her from the cruel fate that twin win destiny gave her.
SLAP!!!
A resounding slap landed on Merle's cheeks, drifting her back from her thoughts.
