"How did you catch him?" asked Kai as he stepped into the Theodore family's basement, a place used only for the most secret things.
"It was easy. He was in disguise," Sir Theodore replied. His eyes looked at one of his guards with a satisfied look.
Kai stepped closer to the man who now sat kneeling on the cold floor, his body covered in bruises from Sir Theodare's rough greeting. His face was no longer whole and was partially downcast in fear.
"Damn it," Kai hissed, bending down to match the man. "Where's your boss?" he shouted, his tone echoing and sharp, piercing the cold air.
The man didn't dare look back. His body shook violently. Kai gripped his face with one large hand, forcing the man to look directly into his blue eyes that flickered with anger.
"I haven't communicated with Vincent in a long time," he stammered. He had already imagined being tortured by the Theodare family for what he had done. And now was the time.
He hated Vincent for abandoning him. "He left me, not even paying for everything I did for his pleasure."
Instead of hitting, Kai spat right in front of him, full of contempt.
"You planned my sister's death, you bastard!" Kai clenched his jaw. Thinking back to when his only sister died two years ago, his chest felt like it was being squeezed.
His late sister had a secret relationship with that bastard without Kai or his parents knowing.
And as it turned out, it was all part of Vincent's plan. The man ordered his men to approach Kai's sister, only to kill her slowly.
Kai gritted his teeth.
His sister drowned in the sea. Everyone knew she was afraid of water, and had a trauma that made her unable to swim. But that bastard forced her, persuaded her with empty promises.
"I'm sorry ...," the man muttered. "I was willing to die. For two years I was haunted ... because I -- loved-"
Kai's fist landed before the sentence was finished. It was hard. Blood splashed.
"Don't ever say such disgusting things!" he snapped.
Kai let out a long breath. "Dead? No. Death is too easy for you. You'll feel the agony. I won't just let you die! It's so easy for you to die after the mess you made!"
He pulled the man's collar closer. "Tell me. Where is Vincent now?"
"I don't know. But ... wasn't his son just arrested? Just ask him!"
Kai smirked. "That's your job. Get him to talk. You'll see him tonight. Don't expect him to escape."
"Father," he said to Sir Theodore who had just entered, "please have some guards watch him on his way to the prison."
Sir Theodore nodded. "Your mother wants to see you. Before you go home, meet her."
Kai nodded and walked towards the main room.
His smile grew even bigger when he saw his mother sitting watching television.
"Did you miss me?"
The middle-aged woman immediately turned her head. "Oh My handsome son. How's work?"
"Everything is fine, Mom."
"Oh, we're going to New York next week. Sir Harris Bennet is getting married ...."
"Camilla, how is she?" He immediately remembered the name of his childhood friend whom he hadn't seen in a long time. Of course, he still clearly remembered how beautiful Camilla was as a child. Their ages were 5 years apart, back then Kai always accompanied her if Camilla and her family were going on vacation to Theodare's residence.
Because Sir Theodore and Sir Harris were friends during college. Their relationship is still well-established to this day. It's just that they rarely meet because they are busy with their respective jobs.
"She has grown into a beautiful woman. Maybe when you meet her, you'll be a little unfamiliar ... But, please behave yourself, don't be cold to her," pleaded the mother.
Given that her son is so untouchable, especially when it comes to a woman. Many women had tried to get into Kai Theodare's heart, but the cold man was not interested in dating at the moment. Because he just wanted to focus on the cases that were piling up on his desk.
Three hours had passed, and Kai returned to his residence. Kai was almost asleep when his cell phone rang.
["Mr, sorry to interrupt, we managed to get Vincent's son to talk."]
["What did he say?"]
["Vincent is in Las Vegas."]
["Does he know who set this up?"]
["No, Mr, I assure you. All clean."]
["Alright. Gather all the bodyguards. We leave tomorrow morning."]
Kai stared at the ceiling of the room. Plans for New York? Looks like it will be accelerated.
"Vincent ... It's time for you to taste hell."
"I will take revenge on you many times over. I swear!"
His blue eyes flashed sharply in the darkness, like a vampire ready to devour its prey!

Meanwhile, at one of New York's famous cafes ....
"Jenny? Isn't she our mom's friend?" asked Camilla's best friend-Liam, a wide-eyed man with Japanese blood who had been by her side since childhood.
Camilla nodded. "What do you think? Wouldn't it be weird if she became my mom?" asked Camilla asking Liam for his opinion.
"I want you to come to my house. I think we talked about this at my house with my mother. I heard from my mom that there was a problem between your mom and Jenny ...."
"But my dad seems happy with her ...."
"I don't want-"
Before Camilla could finish her sentence, her cell phone vibrated indicating an incoming message.
"My father. I have to go home."
"Alright. If there's something wrong with Jenny. Let me know immediately," he ordered.
On the way, as usual, the paparazzi followed the every move of Camilla Bennet, Harris Bennet's only daughter. She sighed softly. Her boyfriend-Kevin, was also hard to reach these days.
Her beautiful royal face was always the subject of conversation. Whatever she wore was almost always on trend.
Today, she was wearing a limited edition outfit from one of the world's leading brands. This brand only produces a very limited number and is exclusively given to Camilla, as they know her great influence in the public eye.
You can be sure that when her photos are shared on social media by the paparazzi, her appearance will be back in the spotlight.
Arriving home, the atmosphere in the living room raised eyebrows. Jenny and her father were sitting together. Diana was also there, sitting silently.
"What's wrong?" asked Camilla.
"Camilla, sit down first," said her father.
Camilla's face looked tense. Something was not right.
"Jenny and I have decided to get married. In two days."
Camilla stood up suddenly. "What? Two days? That's too soon!"
"Dad has to go abroad for work. So Jenny suggested-"
"Why didn't you discuss it with me first?"
"Here's the discussion."
Camilla let out a long breath and rubbed her face roughly. "It's not a discussion, it's father's decision."
Then, Diana walked up to her and grasped both her hands tightly. "I'm so happy to be your sister. I always wanted to be with you. But because of the distance that separates us, our friendship must be separate. Maybe with my mom and Father getting married, we'll become sister who need each other. Do you feel the same way, Camilla?"
Father? Diana had even addressed Harris as her father?
Two days later ....
A lavish party. Bigwigs and conglomerates attended. Camilla looked stunning in a dark blue dress. All the guests were more mesmerized by Camilla Bennet's appearance today than the bride and groom.
Making Diana only occasionally show her bitter smile. Since childhood, if she was with Camilla, people never considered it. Because the focus of their attention was only on Camilla.
While enjoying a drink, her eyes fell on Kevin and Diana laughed. Curious to know what they were laughing about, he walked over to the two of them.
Why did the two of them get along so quickly?
"You guys look very familiar," Camilla said as she approached them.
Kevin nodded his head without hesitation. Making Camilla annoyed at her boyfriend.
"It turns out we used to go to the same school. It's just that I'm older," Kevin replied as he put his arm around Camilla's slender waist.
"Oh yeah?" Camilla smiled slightly, but her gaze was sharp.
"That's right. He and I went to the same school. We also spoke in French just now. Reminiscing about the times when we lived in Paris." Now it was Diana's turn to answer.
Somehow, on the wedding day, Diana's demeanor surprised Camilla. She had always spoken carefully to her, but now it was as if she was in the same position as Camilla.
But remember, Diana and Camilla will never be on the same level. Diana is no match for Camilla.
Then, everyone's attention turned to the arrival of the Theodore couple. Harris welcomed them warmly.
Suddenly, all the guests were facing the couple as if they were the guests of honor.
"Camilla, do you remember the Theodore family?"
"Of course ... Hello, Uncle ... Aunt ... It's been a long time," Camilla greeted kindly.
"My goodness, you are so beautiful, Camilla. I even heard from you that you have grown into a smart woman. The man who will become your husband, you must make sure he is your equal. For you are an expensive woman," complimented Mrs. Theodare.
"Do you already have a boyfriend?" asked Mrs. Theodare again, as if interested in the romance of the beautiful princess.
Camilla's eyes looked at the man beside her. Which man was Kevin?
"Hello, Mrs. Theodare, I'm Kevin, Camilla's boyfriend," Kevin introduced himself.
Mrs. Theodare's face instantly changed, not showing her cheerful face anymore.
Was the image of the man who would become Camilla's lover in Mrs. Theodare's mind not in line with her expectations?
"It's a pity Kai can't come. He's very busy with his work. Kai sends his regards to you." Instead of answering Kevin's greetings, Mrs. Theodare chose to talk about her son.
Then, Mrs. Theodare brought her face close to Camilla's right ear. "Are you sure about that man? He doesn't suit you at all."
Mrs. Theodare's words were still ringing in Camilla's mind even after the event ended.
The wedding went smoothly. And somehow in the morning, Harris had to go abroad on business. It looked very hasty. Making Camilla quite upset and sad.
"From now on, when I go to work, you won't be alone anymore. Because there is Diana who will accompany you ...." Her father smiled gently at Camilla and hugged her body tightly.
"I love you very much ...."
Those were the last words her father said before he left for Japan.
After saying goodbye to Camilla, Jenny, and Diana, her father got into the car to go to the airport.
The house felt different now that there was a new member in the house.
Since today was a holiday and she didn't go to work, Camilla chose to laze around in her room all day, suddenly her mind drifted to her late mother's old albums from college.
The beautiful woman stepped slowly towards the family library. The room that used to be the most comfortable place for both her parents and her. It was where they often spent time together, immersed in their favorite books.
However, over the past few years, Camilla rarely visited the room. She only came when there was a class assignment that required her to look for references.
Her eyes stopped at the corner of the room, right at the end of the long chair that used to be her mother's favorite place. She could imagine how her mother used to lie on her father's lap, spoiled and full of laughter. Little Camilla often felt jealous because her mother always looked more spoiled to her father.
"Mom, I miss you ...." she whispered, her eyes starting to tear up. The longing she had been harboring exploded.
She remembered her purpose. Quickly, Camilla pulled out a chair and climbed onto it to reach it.
The box contained a photo album of her mother during college, as well as some love letters that her mother and father had sent during their long-distance relationship.
Slowly, Camilla's right hand opened the lid of the box. "Hello, Mom," she said softly as if greeting the figure she had missed so much.
The words 'Yale University' were printed on the cover of one of the albums. She began to open it, page by page, tracing the memories of her mother's charmed youth. A popular woman, full of spirit and charm.
However, her hand stopped when she came across a different photo. There, her mother was hugging Jenny, both smiling broadly, looking like true friends. But what made Camilla's brow furrow was the handwriting engraved near Jenny's face.
[I hate you! Traitor!]
Instantly, Camilla's heart skipped a beat. She knew it was her mother's handwriting. It seemed like not too long ago that her mother had written on that photo. Maybe it was just a few years when her mother hadn't died yet.
Quickly, Camilla grabbed her cell phone and took a picture of the photo, making sure the writing was visible. She intended to show the photo to her father.
Did her father know the last relationship between her mother and Jenny?
What had happened between her mother and Jenny? What kind of friendship turned into betrayal?
Since she still wanted to see what else was in her mother's box, she took the box to her room. She would see it tomorrow, because today she still felt tired, after being at her father and Jenny's wedding all day yesterday.
She kept the box in a place where only she could open it. Because now it's not just her and her father who are family in this house. There was a new family member. Therefore, things that she thought others should not see were kept in a safe place.
While thinking about her mother's writing in her mother's college album, the beautiful woman unconsciously fell asleep.
Perhaps if it wasn't for a knock on the door and a call from one of the maids trying to wake her up, Camilla would still be awake.
"Miss Camilla ... Sorry to interrupt. Just now there was a call from the police ...."
Camilla blinked. "A call?" she asked again because she wasn't fully awake yet.
"The plane Sir Harris was traveling on ... crashed. Near Kyoto ...."
Crashed? Were there any fatalities on board Bennet's private jet? Was Harris Bennet also one of the victims?
