Chapter 5 Trust Me

Kaden POV

I responded, without looking at him, "Trust me, Alpha Kaden, if I wanted to hurt you, I would have." I tidied up the vicinity of the sink. "Although I'm not quite Alpha, I come from an Alpha family, and even now, my senses are... more developed than yours. He leaned against the wall and said, "So even if you try, you won't get a chance unless I'm distracted." To be honest, he was correct when he remarked, "So you think that because you are a part of an Alpha bloodline I can't hurt you." I'm not strong enough or fast enough to defeat him, but if I'm clever, I can.

In response, he shrugged his shoulders. I began to go toward him, and as soon as I was just a foot away, I swiftly grabbed a knife and attempted to stab him in the neck, but he grabbed hold of my hand. He gave me a grin. He responded, "See," and I grinned. His eyebrows narrow in perplexity. His expression, when he glanced down, was priceless.

I had a knife in my other hand, close to his stomach. "As I said, Alpha. I took my hand off of you and stepped aside, saying, "If I had wanted to hurt you, I would have."

He responded, "I guess after a few years of not training has gotten to me," blushing in shame as he rubbed the back of his neck. That made me grin in private. "A suggestion. I told him to try not to be too open, and he nodded. Uncle could teach you a few things about training. Tomorrow, he's training the pack warriors," I persisted.

"I can tell that I can't fight like I used to, even without the help of my pack. He was correct when he declared, "They're going to want to challenge me for my position, and I can't allow that." Male werewolves in particular like displaying their authority and being possessive. It's innate in them. To that, being a wolf just adds spice. "Unless," he said, yanking me from my reverie. "Unless what?" When he was silent, I inquired. He said, "You could train me."

"I'm not certain about that. Even if I may be the pack's next enforcer, I don't believe I could train a higher-ranking member, particularly an Alpha." It is accurate. I doubt that I could pull it off. Yes, I have taught people outside of my pack, but never further up in the hierarchy. "If you want you could ask your father to have my uncle train you personally," he said with a sigh. "I need you to instruct me. It wasn't a question, but rather, "Besides, aren't you like the greatest female warrior in history or something?" Indeed, it's implied by the name. Hero. I leaned against the counter and crossed my arms over my chest, saying, "I train warriors."

"Look, even if I did ask my dad to train me, you would be the one doing the training." "You are the right choice," he said, leaning against the wall and moving in my direction. "Or, Alpha Thomas might even train you himself," I said. "He is the leader. He scoffs, 'It must be a lot of paperwork for him. "You're his son he will make time,"

With an innocent-looking grin, he fires back, "I would convince him to let you do it." I gave him a sidelong glance. I cannot believe how amazing he is behaving at this moment. "Okay, I give up; you win. I promised him, "I'll do everything in my power to train you," and he grinned back. His dimples were showing once again. I walked over to the fridge to get a bottle of water and whispered to him, "Don't be late Alpha. We can start at 5:30."

I heard him murmur, "I'm not Alpha," as soon as I opened the refrigerator door. "Well, since your lineage is Alpha, people will refer to you as Alpha. He was looking down, so I glanced up from the fridge door and said, "You have to get used to it." He responded, "I don't want you to call me Alpha," just before he looked up into my face. His eyes were the colour of the ocean, and I couldn't believe I hadn't noticed it before. However, it had a dark tint to it. It resembles the scene of the ocean with grey clouds looming above. I can't stop thinking about how the rough sea slams so hard on the beach when I gaze into his eyes. So intriguing, but so deadly.

"Why?" When I finally realised that I'd been looking at him while standing in front of an open refrigerator, I inquired breathlessly. I questioned again, "Why don't you like it when people call you Alpha?" I saw the gears whirling in his brain. making me question whether or not he would be telling the truth. "Please," he mutely said. Though I didn't anticipate hearing it, I did, and I didn't ask him any more questions after that. He caught one of the water bottles I threw at him with one hand after I grabbed two in front of the refrigerator.

"So what are you doing down here?" I sat down on one of the bar stools scattered over the island and inquired. He remarked, "Couldn't sleep," and then he sat down in front of me. "How about you? Apart from discarding the food you never consumed?" I furrowed my brows once again at his question. How was he aware that I disposed of it?

He replied, "I can smell it from here," to my unasked query. "So?" He continued, indicating that he was awaiting my response. I replied, "I didn't have much of an appetite," and proceeded to discard the bottle. That was quick, I know, but I was unexpectedly thirsty. My bottle ended up in the recycle bin. When I turned back, Kaden was standing only a foot away from me. I let out a gasp but kept quiet. I find myself staring into those ocean-blue eyes again, and I believe my voice is stuck in my throat. But I had never previously been this close.

They seem to be searching my soul for something, and I'm doing nothing to stop it. I watched as his hand moved my hair behind my ear and gradually made its way up to my face. I leaned against the cupped cheek of his.

This is strange. I wasn't doing anything to stop it, even though this seemed strange. I just stood there acting as if my lips were locked and my head was firmly planted on the ground. My heart was pounding so hard and quickly that I thought he could hear me.

How in the hell?

His thumb slid over my lower lip and down to the bandaged area of my neck. "Does it hurt?" He was referring to my neck wound. "No," was my response once I could speak clearly.

Whispering, "I'm sorry you got hurt," he whispered. His tone just gave the impression that he, not me, was the one who was injured. Silence the voice within my brain that isn't Lizzy. "There's no need to say sorry. As a warrior in our pack, it is my responsibility to defend the group as a whole, including you. Hurts are inevitable," I said, and I saw a little grin forming on his lips. His finger moves beyond my lips, leaving its heat behind, and his thumb traces back to my lower lip. As he began to lean in, I felt like my heart was racing uncontrollably until I realised what was happening. When I moved away from Kaden, he seemed taken aback. I stepped away from him and his hand dropped to his side. "I think we should try and get some sleep if we wanna wake up early for training later on," I said.

He answered, scratching the back of his head, "Yeah, we should." I murmured, "Goodnight, Kaden," as I walked from the kitchen to my room. My thoughts immediately returned to the events of the previous few minutes as soon as I was inside. I haven't experienced it since my partner left, and I had no desire to begin a relationship. It's unclear to me what happened or if I should even be scared, but one thing is certain: it won't happen again. I am not affected by him.
