PRISCILLA'S POV
I stopped in my tracks, one thought ringing in my head. ''Please tell me I'm dreaming.'
Life couldn't possibly be that wicked to me, and yet I knew, the bad feeling I'd felt immediately I entered this hotel was now justified.
I walked as if on autopilot towards my kids and yanked them behind me, causing Brent to stand up and stare at me in, was that shock? I was too rattled to tell.
I turned to the twins and grabbed their hands. If I was lucky enough, I would be able to leave this place without talking to Brent. The words he had thrown at me that fateful day were still resounding in me. "Come on, let's go." I muttered to the twins, who were staring at me confused. Hopefully, their inquisitive side wouldn't come out anytime soon.
I hadn't taken a step away when I felt pressure on my shoulder. I sighed softly, faked a smile for the twins' benefit and turned to Brent, no point letting them see my distress even though if they hadn't run off, I wouldn't be in this situation right now.
"Hello." I smiled at Brent, trying to make it seem like I didn't recognize him, but of course he could see through me. Even the paintings on the wall could see how ridiculous that idea was.
"Priscilla." He called softly and I felt my heart squeezing. There was a time he used to call my name like that, filled with warmth and affection, but it was all ruined.
I checked my wristwatch, trying to make it look like I was in a hurry, and looked straight at him, hopefully hiding the grimace I was feeling. "I'm sorry, but I don't have time for catch-up. I'm running a little late right now."
He nodded, but his hand was still on my shoulder, which meant I couldn't go anywhere. "I tried looking for you." He said, and his gaze moved to the imps that were meant to be behind me. I wasn't even aware when they had moved to my side, and they were staring at Brent.
"Hate to break up this little party, but I really am in a hurry, and I'm exhausted." I forced a cheerful tone. I really needed to leave, like ten minutes ago.
His hand was still on me. "Can I see you? Later?" He asked and I shook my head. The last thing I needed was a private meeting with him. Plus, with the way he was looking at the twins, it was only a matter of time before he found out they were his.
"Mom." Avery called, pulling my hands, and his already focused look turned even sharper.
"Yes baby." I turned to her, my heart in my throat.
"Who is he?" She mock whispered, and I shook my head, our agreed sign for not right now, but it seemed like that agreement had gone off their head as Aiden repeated the question.
Looking at the position I was and knowing the best thing I could do to get myself out of that situation as fast as possible, I turned to Brent. "We can see later. I'm exhausted right now."
He nodded and removed his hand. "I'll send a note to your suite."
I nodded and grimaced, not caring that he could see it, and didn't bother asking how he would know my room number. He owned the freaking hotel.
''Has he figured it out? Or not?' The question just kept rumbling through me as I led the twins to our suite, ignoring their conversation about Star Wars, their latest interest.
BRENT'S POV
I stared after Priscilla, regret filling me at the time that we'd lost. The last time I'd seen her was seven years ago and after searching for her to no avail for the last couple of years, I was ready and willing to forgive her. We had parted on horrible terms, but after thinking about it for a long time, I'd realized it was probably my fault. If I had been enough for Priscilla, she wouldn't have had any reason to go back to her ex. The kids that were with her, though, were a different matter.
For some reason, they looked so familiar to me and as much as I knew Priscilla wished to avoid me, we needed to have a conversation. Exactly what had gone on in the years we had parted.
*******************
I nodded to one of the cleaners and looked at the room number again. What was this strange feeling I hadn't felt in agaes. There was no way I was looking forward to seeing Priscilla. We just needed to talk and the last thing I needed was my heart to be broken again.
I knocked and when there was no answer, lifted my hands to knock again when the door opened. I swallowed a gasp as Priscilla peeked out the door, her ethereal beauty hitting me again. I had been in shock when we'd met earlier and so hadn't been able to take it in. Her hair fell in waves around her face and she looked absolutely radiant. I cleared my throat to get myself and saw two little faces peeking at me, reminding me of the reason I'd come here.
"You're not surprised right? I told you I was coming to pick you up." I commented as she stared wordlessly at me.
She nodded. "Yeah." then turned to the kids. "Mom is going out for a few minutes. Go and continue playing."
The girl, who looked like what I imagined Priscilla to look like when she was younger nodded and took her brothers hand then ran back into the room and Priscilla came out, closing the door behind her and allowing me to see the floral dress she had on that was doing wonders to her figure.
She had always been stunning but the years had been very kind to her. She didn't look like she had aged a day after our seperation and she still looked as gorgeous as before. "Are you ready?" I asked, leading the way and she nodded, not meeting my eyes.
I led her to the empty bar that was reserved for our VIP customers. It was empty and would give us the avenue to discuss whatever we wanted to.
