Closing his eyes, he let his wolf take over, the temperature in the throne room dropped as he opened his eyes again, making everyone around him take a step back scared. He looked at his father one last time.
King Kernin watched Remus's large wolf walk out of the throne room in majesty staring at him like he was prey, that was where it dawned on him, the wolf had taken over. Frozen in his steps he can only hope the other soldiers do the same and just let the wolf pass by.
Trying to hold its balance on the marble floors, it tried to sink its claws into the slippery fall, following the smell of trees and wildlife it tried to seek
Letting his wolf take control, he dashed out of the throne room, feeling the slippery marble floor beneath him. His wolf felt uncomfortable within the walls, the forest called out to him, and his senses were heightened, he could hear the birds chirping and the heartbeats of the humans around him. He wanted to be far away from human civilization and be with the wild, with that thought in his mind he let his wolf lead him toward the forest.
Disoriented he searched for the exit, growling at the humans who tried to move out of his way. A human suddenly dashed in front of him, halting him something about her felt familiar. She stood tall in front of him, her heart was beating fast and he could smell her fear but her eyes were focused on him. Something about her brought him peace. Slowly lowering his nuzzle to her outstretched fingers, just as she was about to touch him, King Fenrir and the other guards came up behind him.
"Remus! Get away from him Isabelle, he is not himself." the king warned while staring intently at Remus.
"Remus son, look at me...." whoosh an arrow went past him and hit Remus's shoulders, he broke through the window running into the evening.
"Remus!!!!" Isabelle called out to him at the top of her voice, he heard her but he wasn't willing to stop. His wolf had full control now and he wanted to run into the forest.
Increasing his pace, he dug his hoofs into the dirt, feeling at peace with his wolf he darted into the forest feeling at peace with the wind and wildlife.
After Remus's sudden departure from the castle in his wolf state, the king focused all his attention on Luke, calling on Nana to form and heal him.
Standing out the room, Isabelle was pacing outside the healer's room waiting patiently for the king to come out. It has been five hours since Luke ran off and no one cares. They didn't send any search party to hunt him, everyone was more concerned with the frail Luke upon the king's orders.
"My lady, it is getting late, you should get some rest." Her handmaid suggested being worried.
"No, I will not rest until Remus returns." She said stubbornly.
King Fenrir followed by his attendants stepped out of the healer's room and was immediately intercepted by the waiting princess.
"Princess Isabelle, are you still here?" The king asked looking surprised.
"Your Highness, Remus has not returned, we need to go search for him!" She declared.
"Princess Isabelle, Remus will return when he is ready." The king said calmly.
"How can you say that? He is your son and he is not himself." She raised her voice a bit agitated now, from a tender age, Princess Isabelle showed a rebellious spirit uncle the other princesses, whenever she felt she was right she never hesitated to prove her point regardless of the consequences which is why when everyone looked at her weirdly for daring to raise her voice on the All-Alpha she wasn't bothered, rather she held her grounds.
"Princess, both my sons need me, one more than the other. Remus is strong and you said it yourself he is not himself, sending my men after him will be suicide as he is going to end them himself. I can't take such a huge loss"
" A huge loss? That's so unfair Your Highness, Remjs was provoked by Luke, and yet he is the one being punished for..."
Angry, The king cuts her off,
" Luke is a half-breed and is severely injured, Remus almost killed him in a fit of rage, when he is ready he will...."
Not backing down, she interrupts the king cashing her hand to gasp in fear behind her.
.
"Luke is just pretending, he provoked Remus on purpose to..."
" enough!" He boomed in his alpha voice scaring everyone around him, looking Isabelle deep in the eye intimidatingly, she bowed her head before him unable to hold his stare or hear the intensity of his authority filling the air.
" I understand that you worry for him but fear not princess he will return, maybe that's what he needs anyway." He added before walking away leaving an infuriated Isabelle to stare off at him unsatisfied.
Occasionally there were brawls between Luke and Remus but it had never been this serious and for someone calm like Remus to shift, meant he was truly provoked, the last time he shifted it took 100-foot soldiers to put him down and he was just twelve Then which was his first time shifting, he was banned from shifting after his third encounter because anytime he shifted blood flowed and he never stopped until people died which was what scared the king when he shifted in the palace.
But something nagged at his subconsciousness, the look of pain and betrayal in Remus' eyes before he dashed off, that guilt was what stopped him from going after him.
How could he face him? He knew Luke must have done something terrible to him for him to shift but he was more focused on believing Luke.
Remus' POV
Remus continued to travel north as if he was being called by something, it was as if he was possessed by his wolf, giving himself completely over to the innate nature of his wolf. His stomach grumbled, he was hungry, he could hear the stream somewhere on his left and smell the sweet scent of the deer.
