Chapter 3 Jinxed Moments

He paused and took a glimpse at his watch again. I couldn't count how many times he did that but then, I knew something was up.

"Consider him dead"

I widened my eyes at him. Was that his way of saying he was jealous?

I folded my lips as his breath poured onto my face. I could barely concentrate, not until an announcement came in.

His eyes scrutinized mine as though searching for an answer. Goosebumps held me as I wasn't thinking straight anymore.

I ducked my head, feeble and mousey. Silence made me feel like I was afraid, desiring he should leave, while I liked to reminisce about the body I was trapped in.

He then rose up and paced towards the door. My mind was distracted until he called that name again.

"Rossa?"

"Sir?" I answered, rising from the bed and trying to stand properly to give a bow. However, I tripped on my feet and almost fell, but he was quick to catch me and I landed on his chest.

His arms flew to my waist as my head was buried in his chest. My heartbeat was embarrassing as it was so loud and annoying.

I slowly raised my head to look at him, my lips parted a little.

When he started, I felt a knot tying in my stomach. I was quivering under his hold.

He looked familiar though, like we'd met before facially.

"Is this your way of seducing me?" he suddenly asked and my stomach grumbled.

Hastily, I tried to break out of his hold, but he was so firm and timid that I sucked my breath.

My muscles were lost as I was becoming weaker and weaker. His eyes on me darkened.

I didn't know why I was feeling this way, but I didn't like it.

"You asked for it and I couldn't resist it."

"I..."

Before I could say out my heart, he held my lips and kissed me. He twirled my tongue to his taste as I froze.

When he had broken out of the kiss, I stuttered, feeling dizzy and moaned unintentionally.

He released me and gulped hard. A tear dropped from my eyes. It had been a while since I witnessed such a long and intense kiss.

However, that shouldn't be in my head. This body was his, but not the soul possessing it.

"Get ready tonight, your bodyguard will bring you to me" he concluded, and I squinted my eyes at him.

"What's happening tonight?" I asked with a frown and his kiss made my cheeks flush red.

He gave me no response and left me standing clueless. He thinks I know it all.

As soon as he was gone, I heaved a sigh as though I had escaped another death.

My cheeks blushed and I felt stupid. I didn't want to get involved in this impressive affair and finding Ivan to make him pay was my top priority.

I shook my head to return to bed when the door knob opened.

My eyes witnessed another man, dressed in royalty and standing before me. He had spread his arms.

"My love, you survived!" he exclaimed, and I felt drowsy. I guess he was her lover, the man the emperor speaks about.

His name was Scott, according to Rossa's memory. I didn't move, and he hastened up to embrace me.

"Rossa, you're alive!" he said, kissing me everywhere on my face. I felt disgusted.

"I'm so sorry I couldn't come earlier" he whispered, and I faked a smile. Scott scooped me in his hand and I broke out quickly.

He seemed stunned by my actions, but then I was quick to tell me that I was still recovering.

He gave me a wry smile and heaved softly.

"Remember, we assassinated the emperor tonight! Then you'll get united with your lover again."

"What?" I exclaimed, rubbing my forehead and jinxed at his words.

"Is anything wrong, sis?"

Oh, we were related. That was a relief. Who was her lover?

He added it sounded in a way to help me recall.

"Don't you recall?"

"Oh...yes I do, but what's happening tonight?" I asked in between my teeth and stepped away from him as he drew closer.

I could tell he was trying every means to touch me, to hold me.

From Rossa's memory, Scott was her protective younger brother who was quite touchy.

"Don't you know what's happening tonight?" he rhetorically asked with a curious gaze at me.

"Memory loss, I can't really recall much after the fall" I defended, faking a smile. I wish he'd leave too.

He pulled a frown and paced towards the window while I stood behind, with probing eyes at him.

"Well, tonight..."

"Rossa? "You're alive?" a feminine voice called. It sounded like an old lady. I threw my face and found her by the door.

She was a young woman but had a deep voice. When our eyes met, she smiled at me.

Her question certainly meant she wanted me dead. She must be Rossa's killer. But why when I was a sibling to Scott?

"Oh, I missed you" she said, spreading her arms at me, but I cringed.

A flash of Rossa's memory struck my head. I could see this girl angry at Rossa.

She embraced me and Scott stepped back while clearing his throat.

"Hey love, I was about telling you she was awake" he said, gesturing to me through signs that I couldn't understand.

She terminated the embrace and I felt revealed that I wasn't in her hold again.

This girl blushed and then shifted her face to Scott while throwing her arms at his neck.

I still felt drowsy and stuttered ahead of them while they kissed. They must have forgotten I was right there.

Their actions reminded me of Ivan and Sonia. For a moment, I felt like grabbing a knife and stabbing them both.

I inhaled softly, folded my fist as I took a long glimpse at them.

However, I had a blurry vision and I suddenly saw a finger with a ring punching my face as my body swiveled to the ground.
