Chapter 5 Fate or faith(II)

Alpha Kael's POV.

"Ravena, what's wrong?" I asked, noticing her sudden detachment from Akira and I.

But before she could respond Akira called out my name and I turned my attention.

"Yes!" I snapped, frustrated.

"Come with Ravena." Akira yelled from a close distance.

"Okay." I grunted, but as I turned Ravena was not there , she suddenly vanished into thin air. One moment she was standing beside me, the next she was gone.

"Akira, Ravena's gone!" I exclaimed, my heart racing.

Akira's eyes darted towards me, her expression skeptical. "What do you mean she's gone? She's probably just hiding behind a tree, playing tricks on us. Really funny, haha!"

I shook my head, my eyes scanning the surrounding area. "No, Akira. She was right here, and then she just...disappeared. We were talking then you called out for me before I could answer , and turn back she was gone."

Akira snorted. "Kael, don't be ridiculous. Ravena's not just going to disappear into thin air. She is not some witch is she? I hope she is so we can burn her!"

But I knew what I saw, and I knew Ravena wouldn't just leave like that. Something was wrong, and I had to find her.

"Akira, help me search for her," I pleaded, my voice urgent.

But Akira just crossed her arms, her expression showed whatever would come out of her mouth I would not like it. "I'm not going to fall for this, Kael. Ravena's trying to distract us from the paw print. She's hiding something, and I'm going to find out what it is."

I growled, frustration growing inside me. "Akira, this isn't a game. Ravena's in trouble. I can feel it."

"Yeah, in trouble of me finding what she is hiding, beloved daughter of Thorne. Come out of that tree!" Akira snarled. "If it has to do with that pawprint I will get to the bottom of it."

"Akira, please," I said, trying to reason with her. "We can investigate the paw print later. Right now, we need to find Ravena."

But Akira just shook her head. "No, Kael. I'm not going to let her manipulate us like this. She's been acting strange ever since she came back and now she's just disappeared? It's too easy don't you think?"

I took a deep breath, trying to calm down. "Akira, you're not thinking clearly. Ravena would never just leave like this. Something's wrong, and we need to find her. I know you do not like her but she is Thorne's daughter and we need to do this for Thorne. After all I did ask you two to work together."

But Akira just turned and walked away, leaving me to search for Ravena on my own. I cursed under my breath, frustration and worry growing inside me. Where could Ravena be? And why was Akira being so stubborn?

I searched the surrounding bushes, calling out Ravena's name, but there was no response. I could feel my heart racing, my senses on high alert. Something was wrong, and I knew it. Her scent was still in the air, but very faint and would be difficult for me to sniff out and trace.

Suddenly, I heard a faint movement in the bushes ahead. I moved , my senses on high alert. "Ravena?" I called out, my voice low and cautious.

"You know if I got a dollar every time you called Ravena I would be richer than that human, Elon by now. Ravena, Ravena, Ravena! You yap about her like she is your mate. If she is tired of playing hide and seek she will come out." Akira snorted.

I closed my eyes, I knew I had to change my approach if I ever want Akira to help me find Ravena who suddenly disappeared into thin air.

"Please, help me find her and I will grant one of your wishes." I said, my voice strained on purpose.

"Okay fine. Let's start with that den. Looks like the perfect place for someone to hide in a hide and seek game." Akira snorted and dragged her feet on the floor.

As we entered the den, we were met with a weird smell and the faint scent of old fur. The den was lit by a bulb that looked like it would soon explode any minute soon, but we could make out old pictures scattered across the walls.

"Akira, look at this," I said, my voice barely above a whisper.

Akira joined me, her eyes scanning the pictures. "What is this? Some kind of pack history? Some old rivalry? Or what?

I nodded, my eyes fixed on a picture of a wolf with a bug scar above his left eye. "I think so. But look at this wolf. I've never seen him before."

Akira's eyes narrowed. "And look at this one. She's wearing a strange symbol around her neck."

We continued to check the pictures, but the more we looked, the more questions we had. Who were these wolves? And why were their identities shrouded in mystery?

As we walked deeper into the den, we found more pictures, each one giving rise to more questions. We found a picture of a wolf with a familiar marking on his ear, but his face was scratched out. Another picture showed a wolf with a strange tattoo on her paw, but her eyes were blurred out.

"This is getting weirder by the minute," Akira said, her voice filled with frustration.

I nodded, my mind racing with theories. "I think we're onto something big, Akira. Something that could change everything we thought we knew about our pack's history."

"You are the alpha. What is your take on this?" Akira asked, her eyes never leaving the pictures on the wall.

I stood in silence for some time, my mind racing with thoughts.

"Who were these wolves? Why were their faces hidden and some ruined? Is this a deliberate act to hide their identities or is this a work of time and age? More importantly, who stays in this den and why keep the pictures?" I asked, my mind racing with thoughts.
