"Don't follow me," I said sternly as I continued to walk away, but she was by my side in an instant sigh, a helpless expression on her face, and I groaned in frustration.
"I need your help." She started but I didn't turn to look at her as I kept going, ignoring her like she didn't exist. But she was so damn persistent that she didn't care.
"Tairin-
"Why should I care about the fact that you need my help? What am I supposed to do with that? Be elated?" I asked in annoyance while still walking but she didn't relent at all.
"Because I can help you too. You won't be helping me without getting anything in return." She said and I finally turned to face her with a look of annoyance written all over my face.
Before I could speak, she beat me to it as she straightened her back and forced herself to speak boldly.
"I know everything about you. Everyone does anyway. You were exiled and your throne was stolen. And now I know that you want it back." She said and my eyes narrowed in annoyance as I stared at her with a bored expression.
"You know nothing about me. Stop being a cocky princess and just leave me alone." I replied in annoyance as I turned to walk away but her next words had me frozen in my tracks.
"I know more than you think. My father... he used to tell me about an artifact hidden in the Grimwood pack. Something very powerful and ancient." She explained and I was silent for a while, trying to decipher if she was messing with me or telling the truth.
If she was right about the artifact that was claimed to be nothing but a myth, then she might be of use to me after all.
"Go on, what else do you know about this... artifact?" I asked calmly, not wanting her to know that I was desperate and she stepped closer to me.
"It's real and I know how to find it. Help me reclaim my pack, and I'll help you find the artifact." She offered and I scoffed in amusement as I studied her expression.
"You want to get revenge, am I right? And you want to use me as a tool to get what you want; isn't that what this is about?" I asked in amusement, but her rigid expression didn't wave, causing me to be even more intrigued.
"I simply want back what was mine. My pack, my name, my future, my dignity. That bastard took everything and I have to get it back." She replied and I could see how determined she was, hurt and betrayal flashing through her glassy eyes.
"You're a weak omega who couldn't survive in her pack. What makes you think you can survive this? What makes you think you can survive if you stay by my side?" I asked, waiting for an answer that would make me give up on her immediately but instead of her to cower, she raised her chin even higher.
"I'm not just any omega. I am my father's daughter and he didn't teach me to be a coward. Besides, I've got nothing left to lose." She replied and I would be honest, that changed my view of her.
I had watched her fight earlier, not relenting and not giving in to the pressure. And I was impressed. But I didn't need a damn omega all around me. I was used to going solo.
"I am a billion percent sure that you'll slow me down if I take you with me. Why should I settle for a burden? I fly solo, Missy." I said, not wanting her to push the issue but when she was determined, she was determined for sure
"This burden knows something that you want. Not just want but need. It's a simple deal. You help me get my revenge and I get you the artifact. Besides, I'm not afraid to fight." She replied with a confident expression and I knew that she had won already.
There was no damn way that I could argue with her after saying all that. I chuckled lowly, and I could see her tremble slightly as I approached, and her eyes met mine in an instant.
"You do notice that you're shaking, right?" I asked as I traced my finger on her cheek and she let out a sharp breath.
"I might be shaking but it's definitely not from fear." She replied and my finger froze before dropping my hand to try side as I studied her one more time.
I then turned and started walking away, leaving her with a confused expression.
"Shouldn't you be keeping up?" I asked as I was already getting annoyed, and she was by my side in a second with a blissful look on her face.
"Does that mean that you're agreeing to help me?" She asked with an enthusiastic expression and I scoffed in response before nodding in response.
"I'm not a fool. You got power to offer me, why would I say no? Power is power so I'll take the deal. At least for now." I replied with a stoic expression but suddenly froze in my tracks when she threw her arms around me for a hug.
