Chapter 5 THE INTERVIEW

Walking into the office right in front of her felt harder than running a marathon. She finally reached the door but couldn't find the courage to open it. "Why isn't the person here yet? I don't have a second to waste today. Call the next person if the other isn't ready," Harold yelled, causing Hazel to eventually open the door, still terrified.

The office fell silent the moment Hazel walked in. 'Hazel? What is she doing here? Oh, of course, she came for the job. But why here of all places? Did she come here to continue from where she stopped? This stubborn thing who never let me have my peace back then. If she thinks she can come from nowhere and torment me in my own company, I'll let her know I'm the boss here.' Harold debated inwardly, keeping a mean face.

"Sir?" Emily said, breaking the silence. Harold snapped out of his thoughts. "Go back to your office, Emily. I'll call you when I need you." "Yes, sir," she responded, heading towards the door and leaving just Hazel and Harold in the office.

"I suppose you already sent your details and requirements to us before now. Am I right?" Harold asked. "Y-yes, sir," Hazel responded with a shaky voice. She found it difficult to refer to Harold as 'sir'.

"Does Alex pick just anyone to come for an interview? How are you supposed to manage the media team effectively when you stammer?" He said in an uncalm manner. Hazel realized she had to put her fear aside before it ruined her chance of getting the job. 'How dare he call me a stammerer? He's so rude. I'll show him just how good I am with words,' she thought inwardly.

"Can you at least say your name properly? I need it to log in and go through your details," Harold stated. 'Does he really not remember me or is he just pretending not to?' She wondered. "Hazel, Hazel Cedric. That's my name," she replied, waiting to see his expression.

Without letting out any expression or uttering a word, Harold stared at his laptop screen for a few minutes before getting up and walking towards Hazel. Her anxiety returned as she watched him approach. 'What is he trying to do?' she wondered, gasping for breath.

Her gaze was fixed on him as she noticed the chiseled features and strong jawline that defined his ruggedly handsome face. His broad shoulders and athletic build moved with a confident stride, hinting at a physically fit individual. There was an undeniable air of charisma about him, exuding a charm that drew her in. His debonair smile flashed, and his suave demeanor commanded attention, leaving her captivated.

As he stood close to her, she felt his breath and was intimidated by his height. She still hadn't found the courage to look up. His masculine voice brought her back to the moment. "Move aside, will you?" he said, looking deep into her eyes. "Sorry, sir," she muttered, hurriedly creating space for him to leave. "We'll get back to you via call or email," he added as he stepped out of the office.
