Chapter 5 Ruthless Devil

(Alexander's Private Residence)

"Hey buddy, you missing me?" A deep lively voice boomed over the phone prompting Alex's soft, dismissive scoff. His eyes narrowed

"When will you be be back?

"Not sure man,I gotta finish business over here and deal with few pests, but you'll see me soon"

"Don't worry man,you won't be alone for much longer" Alex rolled his eyes at his best friend's dramatic tone.

"Fuck off Ty!" He shook his head slowly while the laughter of his friend echoed on the phone before ending the call.

He walked out of his room and headed to the kitchen for a bottle of water. A handful of guards stood watch outside, their presence a familiar sight within the compound. His private residence, nestled among the mobster's sprawling estate, was a short distance away reflecting his preferrence for solitude. As he walked down the hallway, he paused at the kitchen door, his hand hesitating on the handle. He pushed it open slowly, his eyes scanning the room.

The lights flickered to life, illuminating the space. Paintings adorned the walls, but one piece caught his gaze – a portrait of a woman with a radiant smile. Her eyes seemed to sparkle, drawing him in.

Alex walked closer to the picture and rubbed his fingers softly on it,he looked at the painting with so much pain and sadness.

"I miss you les" He shut his eyes as tears came rolling down his cheeks.Gone was the terrifying underworld king, the one present in there was a broken man in pain.

"I'm so sorry" He sniffled loudly.

Out of Los Angeles city,

A man could be seen puffing out a lot smoke in a dark room, the only form of light that could be seen was the reflection of the lights that shone in and out of the buildings that occupied the city.

The door was slowly creaked open as he cast a sideways glance at whomever was present.

"Speak!" He ordered coldly.

"He's dead" The man responded.

"So typical of Alexander,he doesn't waste time" The man smiled in amusement.

"Well well, Let the game begin" He smirked coldly.

(The infernal base)

Olivia

Just last night, I still had my best friend with me even if we were in a hellish place, but we still had each other, and that made the pain bearable.

Who'll comfort me when I cry? Who'll tease me and lighten up my mood when I'm down? Who'll scold me when I mess up?.

I didn't ask for anything, I never asked to be happy, I was okay with the one thing that made me smile even if there was nothing to smile about in this world. I accepted misery, and grew accustomed to it, but now the only reason I find strength to rise each morning, the one thing that brings me a glimmer of hope is now taken away from me.

Tears rolled down my cheeks as my heart ached terrible at the misfortune and loss that I was plunged in. My best friend was the only gift the universe gave to me and I never asked for more, she was the reason I clung unto life, but now I don't think there's a reason to hold on to this sham called life.

At that moment, I couldn't help but recall those old days back at Skid-row, we might have been poor beggars on the street, but were okay with each other's company, but now none of those kids are here. The boys were shipped to a different country to be used for a lot of dirty businesses and the girls were used as sex slaves. And now I'm the only one left, but don't worry girl, I'm about to join you wherever you are.

I hurriedly cleaned off my tears as I heard footsteps approaching, I lifted up my gaze and saw a guard standing in front of the cell with an expressionless look on his face as he slowly passed my meal through the cell door slot. As soon as he left, I decided to put my plan into action, I ate a little since it might as well be my last meal. After I filled my mouth with three potions, I lifted up the fork with a deliberate motion and slashed my wrist, ignoring the pains I was feeling at that moment,I did this repeatedly until I was feeling so weak and drained.

The shoes of an approaching figure was the last thing I saw before my world went blank.

Few hours later,

I slowly creaked my eyes open, a faint groan escaping my lips as I tried to get a proper hold of myself. As soon as I shook of the haze, I got a clearer view of my current surroundings which was a properly refined bedroom. I don't think I ever had the opportunity of sleeping or even resting on a bed my whole life.

It was not a cell and the got my surprised, because I was sure I had attempted to kill myself at the cell earlier, and this doesn't seem to be heaven either, the likes of me are way too lowly to be in a place like that.

While I was still lost in my own thoughts, trying to understand my current location, a deep vevelty voice which sent shivers down my spine brought me back to reality.

"When you're done with the sightseeing, you can find your way back to current situation" I gasp at the sight of the attractive yet imposing figure in front of me, whose piercing grey eyes seemed to freeze time itself.

"Are you stupid or just naïve? Which one?" He spoke harshly.

"Why did you save me?" I asked instead.

"There's nothing for me to live for anymore, I'm tired" I sobbed slowly, feeling so drained and empty.

"Listen here, I don't give a shit about your pitiful life, and the reason why you're not death's next candidate is because I hate my prisoners dying without me giving them the permission to do so!" He spat out in disgust.

"I may have saved you from the claws of your previous master, but trust me I'm no saint. Henceforth, you're my prisoner and also my property, I wield the power to control the whole life, which also means you can't die without my permission". He uttered with a tone that deeply terrified me, and I couldn't help but wonder if I had just met with the devil himself.
