"Oh. You said your name is Elena, right?" He asked again. He kept repeating himself since he was both excited and worried at the same time.
"Yes, sir. That's right. My name is Elena." She nodded and smiled."I came because someone told me that young master Dawson looking for a maid?" Elena pointed at the piece of paper that she had given to Ben. It was recruitment paper for a maid in this villa. There was a legal stamp on it, with ZD symbol.
"Ah... yes, yes that's right! That's right, Miss..."
"Ben? Who's that?" A voice from behind the door could be heard clearly. Not long after, a tall man came out and immediately made eye contact with Elena.
"Oh...Oh?"
Ben immediately understood that the two knew each other.
"Miss Elena, right?" The man said, which immediately made Ben step back and let the two of them talk more freely.
Elena bowed politely and nodded. She also remembered him as the one that stopped by at the flower shop where she worked and gave them the recruitment paper. A sweet smile on her beautiful face made the tall man stunned. But soon, he shivered when he felt someone's intense glare stabbing him on the back of his head.
"Hey, Miss Elena, you remember me, right?" He said, clearing his throat.
"Of course, sir." Elena nodded. "I come at the right time, right?" she asked softly. It seemed that everyone looked at her with wide eye. Did something wrong with her?
Thomas immediately nodded and took the paper from Ben, "Yes, Miss Elena, we are looking for another maid in this Villa and... oh, please come in. It's better to talk inside."
Elena which initially looked doubtful and confused, was now beaming. She already looked around when she first came and this place was no doubt belongs to a crazy rich! She hope she could get the job, as it was written at the recruitment paper, the money would be more than enough to pay her bills and savings.
Thomas invited her in and he glanced at Ben with a meaningful look. Ben understood that and immediately patted his chest in relief.
Thank goodness. She finally came. Otherwise the atmosphere in this villa would be full of the cold and tense aura from the young master who was getting more and more impatient to find this young woman.
Ben stared at Elena's back as she walked in with Thomas. He shook his head and looked at her with pity.
Poor thing, she was still young and a beauty indeed. What had she done to attract the devil's eye?
He hoped Miss Elena could survive in this extremely dangerous place.
Meanwhile, Elena and Thomas carry out the work agreement smoothly. Making Elena almost unable to believe it.
"So... I got the job?" She asked, still trying to process it. Thomas nodded and smiled politely.
"Yes, you got the job and start very soon. But first we have to discuss a few things." Thomas started flipping through some documents and handed one file to Elena. It seemed to be an employment contract.
Elena looked at the paper still in shock. Her eyes reading the words but her minds started wandering around.
That easy? She thought. Elena thought she would have to be interviewed with various questions like when she applied for several jobs before. But this time was different. All she did was sit down and Thomas nodded saying that she was matched their criteria.
She didn't understand, didn't everyone she met earlier say it was so hard to get a job in this place that they fail? The high pay for young master Dawson's maid made many young woman tempted. Especially those who didn't have a higher education like her who were looking for a job with a big sum of money to live in this big city.
Elena's mind went back to a week ago. When she met Thomas that bought a flower bouquet and hand her the recruitment paper. It truly shocked when she saw how much they will pay the maid. She asked her work partner about it, thinking it might be a scam, but they assure her that it was Zachary Dawson's personal assistant himself that handing her the paper.
Elena had been working at the florist for two months and she loved it. Working with beautiful flowers relaxes her mind, not to mention she loved arranging flowers since she was a child.
But even so, the salary from making bouquet of flowers was still not enough to cover her living expenses. Luckily, she had another part-time job at a restaurant not far from the florist. Two jobs a day, she always came home tired. But when she found another part time job the weekend, she took it, and rarely sleep more than five hours a day.
She needed all of that. Because she had no one to support her, like her friends back in the high school. She is an orphan. She doesn't know who her parents are. Since she was a baby, she lived in an orphanage, in a village on the outskirts of the town.
She lived there and was adopted by several families, but she always returned there. Elena was heartbroken, she didn't want to be adopted even if it was only for a while. What she wanted was a warm family. But those who took her in as a child, only wanted her to be bait so that their wife would get pregnant. After that, she was abandoned.
Ever since the last family returned her, she lived at the orphanage until she was eighteen.
Since she was ready to find a job and live on her own without guardian , Elena gathers her resolve to move out and continue her new life. Her best friend in high school, Henry, invited her to go to the city and find her a job, and she's thrilled.
She could pay for her bills and fill her savings, because she still keep her dream about going to college. It may be an impossible dream for a poor girl like her, but she didn't want to give up hope.
Now, her hopes were even higher when she got the job. A maid in a villa on a hill owned by the young master of Dawson family, Zachary Dawson.
Elena, who had just moved to the city a couple of years ago, did not know him specifically, not to mention she never saw his face. But she did ever heard of the Dawson family. They were a wealthy family, a conglomerate that ruled the city. Even the third richest person in the country.
But besides that, Elena also heard gossip about this conglomerate family. More precisely, rumour she got when she told her co-workers that she wanted to try to apply for the maid position in this villa, two days ago.
"Are you sure?" Lia, her co-worker asked her while she was arranging a bouquet customer's order.
"Yes, the salary is really high! Maybe this can help me stable my finance, instead of having to work three jobs for a full week." She answered with a tired smile.
"But dear, do you know what the Dawson family is like? Not to mention..." Lia took the paper that had been placed on the table.
"... This villa belongs to Zachary Dawson. Young Master Dawson. Do you know the rumors circulating about him?" Lia said looking horrified and worried. Elena could only shake her head.
Lia took a deep breath before facing the poor innocent girl, "Rumor has it that Zachary Dawson is a cruel, cold-blooded man. He run his family underground business, like... you know... drug dealer and all... Most importantly," Lia looked at her seriously, still whispering as if she's afraid anyone over hearing them. "....He hates woman, disgusted even when he sees us. Many people couldn't stand working for a log period in that villa. Some of the women who work there have never been seen again until now."
Elena was stunned. Really? She thinned her lips. If it's about their ilegall business then okay... but the others? Why it sounded like she just made it up? Or other people telling those lies only to frightened their friends, right? Should she just ask Henry?
Lia continued, "Some even say that Zachary Dawson had turned into a vampire who likes to prey on people." She said, shuddering in horror.
Okay. Elena almost rolled her eyes in front of the very serious Lia. That last sentence from her just assure her that those only baseless rumour.
There is no such thing. young master Dawson only looking for a maid, anyway. Right?
