Chapter 5 Ellie is hated by her son.

After a night of worrying everyone to the point of losing sleep, Andrew was finally out of danger, but he still had to stay in the special care room for the doctor to monitor. Everyone breathed a sigh of relief, except for Ellie, because no one told her the news.

That night, the housekeeper did not take Ellie to her and Richard's private home; instead, she was taken to the Winthorpe mansion. She was locked in a room, and no one was allowed to let her out without Minerva's order. This was Minerva's way of punishing her.

At first, Ellie found herself locked up; she cried, begging them to let her out; then, her anxiety and resentment caused her to explode with anger; she screamed, banged on the door, and even cursed. But no matter how much she cried until her tears ran dry or howled until her throat was hoarse and she lost all her strength, no one responded to her.

Minerva was so cruel that she did not allow the servants to bring food or water to Ellie. After three days, a servant saw that Ellie's room was quiet and reported to Minerva worriedly. Only then did she allow the servant to bring some food and water to Ellie so she would not die of hunger and thirst.

The servant who brought food to Ellie saw that she was pitiful and told her that Andrew had passed the critical stage and was currently being cared for to recover his health.

Although Ellie was still locked in the room, at least she knew that Andrew was fine, so she calmed down and tried to eat and drink to regain her strength.

When the servant opened the door to bring breakfast into the room a few days later, Ellie knocked her out and sneaked out. The reason she was able to succeed so easily was because her silence in the past few days had caught the servant off guard.

The first thing Ellie did after going out was to go to the hospital to visit Andrew.

It wasn't difficult for her to find his room because Richard would always choose the best, and the best place in the hospital was the VIP room; on the top floor, the entire large floor had only two rooms.

Of course, not everyone was allowed to go to the VIP floor at will, so to be allowed to go there, Ellie bribed the cleaning staff, replacing her as the cleaner.

There were four bodyguards standing guard in front of the door of the hospital room. Ellie wore a cleaning uniform and a mask, and when she passed by them, she lowered her head so they didn't recognize her; she easily entered the hospital room.

Admittedly, the money spent was worth what Richard got in return; Andrew's hospital room was no less than the presidential suite in five-star hotels.

The room was divided into many separate areas, and as soon as she entered, there was a spacious living room, separated from Andrew's resting room by a door. At the moment, the door was half-closed.

Ellie could see the warm scene inside the room through the small gap. Andrew was lying on the bed; his fair skin still had many red spots, his eyes were slightly swollen, and his hand was plugged with an IV.

Richard sat on Andrew's left side, gently stroking the boy's head; although he didn't say anything, his eyes were filled with the love a father should have for his son. On Andrew's right side was Martha; she was smiling and talking to Andrew while peeling the apple in her hand.

Not knowing what Martha said, Andrew smiled brightly. The atmosphere between them was peaceful and warm as if they were a pleased family.

Ellie's heart ached slightly.

"Miss Martha, you are so good; you are better than my mother; I want you to be my mother."

Andrew's innocent words, filled with excitement and joy, rang in the air, entering Ellie's ears and causing her fragile heart to ache with each sharp pain.

Ellie couldn't believe the son she loved so much could say that. Why? He wanted someone he had only met a few times to be his mother, while his mother had cared for him for five years.

Ellie couldn't understand it and didn't know whether she should feel heartbroken or blame herself.

As a mother, she truly felt defeated and humiliated!

Ellie didn't dare to continue watching their scene; she retreated to a corner of the room, sat down, hugged her legs with both hands, buried her face in her knees, and cried silently.

A moment later, Richard and Martha walked out of Andrew's room to buy lunch for the boy. When they passed the living room, no one noticed Ellie hiding behind the sofa.

Although she was still heartbroken, Ellie quickly regained her spirits because she knew this was an opportunity for her to see her son; she couldn't miss it.

She wiped the tears from her face, tidied her clothes and hair, then opened the door with a smile, but if one looked closely, one could still see the sadness in her eyes.

"Andrew, Mom is here to see you! Do you miss me?"

Andrew was watching cartoons on TV when he heard a noise, glanced over, saw Ellie, and was stunned.

Looking at Andrew's current state, all the sadness he caused automatically disappeared from Ellie's heart, replaced by pity and heartache for him.

Ellie stepped forward, wanting to hug her son, but before she could touch him, he screamed.

"Don't touch me! Miss Martha said you're a bad person. You want to hurt me. I don't need you! Get away." Andrew screamed in anger, fear, and panic.

"No, no! Son! I didn't hurt you! I'm sorry, I don't know why you're like this, but I didn't hurt you!" Ellie also explained in panic. Her tears fell again, and the guilt turned into a sob stuck in her throat. Even though she didn't hurt her son, the truth was that he almost died because he ate her cake. That made her feel very guilty.

The aftereffects of the allergy were still in Andrew; his throat was sore, his voice was hoarse, and the louder he screamed, the more his throat hurt, but the more it hurt, the more he feared and hated his mother because she was the reason he was in such pain.

When he first woke up, Andrew didn't understand what was happening; he only knew what Martha and his grandmother said. Of course, those two women wouldn't speak well of Ellie, and they injected into Andrew's head that Ellie was a bad person who wanted to kill him.

A five-year-old boy like Andrew still didn't understand the concept of death, but he felt every pain in his body, so he believed what his grandmother and Martha said.

Ellie wanted to comfort Andrew, but he wouldn't let her touch him. He threw whatever was near him at her, shouting, "Go away, go away!"

Ellie couldn't avoid it in time; the glass cup hit her forehead and fell to the floor, shattering.

Her heart was like that glass cup shattering into pieces.

"Oh my god! What happened?"

Minerva appeared panicked; seeing Ellie, her anger flared up, "Why are you here? Who let you go!"

Although furious, Minerva did not think to listen to Ellie's answer because Andrew was crying hard then. She hurriedly hugged Andrew, saw that the IV line in his hand was broken, and pressed the button to call the doctor.

"Oh my good, are you okay? Calm down! I'm here; no one can hurt you."

As a VIP patient, the doctor and nurse were there less than a minute after Minerva pressed the button.

Ellie was dragged out of the hospital room by the bodyguard, despite her struggling, wanting to go in but unable to.
