"I'm sorry, but I can't. I need all the juicy gist right now," Eloise demanded.
"And you will get them all, but that would have to be after the close of work today. I am already close to the company," Mia told her.
"Okay, cool, but did you send the money I asked for? I really need to visit the spa today," Eloise purred.
"Yeah, of course," Mia said. After Eloise squealed in delight and thanked Mia several times, they ended the phone all.
Mia sighed and decided to check her phone, and photos of she and Harlem were splashed all over social media.
"Harlem engages K&S heiress..."
"K&S heiress, Mia Kennedy, is officially off the market!"
"Fingers crossed for the biggest and most elaborate wedding New York is about to witness!"
Mia could not read them all, so she sighed and dropped her phone. The only thing on Mia's mind right now was work.
The moment Mia's convoy drove into K&S Empire, her door was opened for her and she stepped out like the queen that she was. The door of the company swung open and Mia stepped in.
"Welcome ma'am," Elisha greeted Mia cheerily as they proceeded to Mia's office.
"Hi, Elisha, did you have a great weekend?" Mia asked.
She entered her office, Mr. Kennedy's former office, and sat down majestically. "Is my new PA here now?" Mia asked.
"Yes, I will just get him right away," Elisha said and turned to leave.
"Him? Elisha, why am I going to be working with a male PA?" Mia asked, instantly displeased.
"Well, because he came highly recommended, and he aced his interview. Plus, I also think that having a male PA, combined with your latest engagement is going to keep the tongues from wagging," Elisha pitched.
"What are you talking about?" Mia asked.
"The news making the rounds is that you are ruthless and fierce, and as a result, you are men repellant," Elisha divulged.
Mia scoffed in disbelief. "Elisha, I don't give a fuck about what a bunch of people out there think about me okay?" Mia said defiantly. "I rose to the top with blood, sweat, and strength, and I am not going to let the opinions of people dictate my choices. Whatever they think or feel about me is none of my damn business, as long as it is not affecting K&S, understood?" Mia said with a tone of finality.
Elisha swallowed. "So does that mean I should fire him?" Elisha asked.
"Send him to me, but if he is any less capable than you have said, then he is going. And next time, Elisha, run things by me before making any final decisions," Mia instructed her head of HR.
"Yes, ma'am," Elisha said and exited Mia's office.
Mia turned on her laptop and began to send emails instantly. In a couple of seconds, she heard a knock on her door.
"Come in," Mia said without looking up.
"Good morning, ma'am," a male voice said.
The voice sounded so unpleasantly familiar that Mia had to raise her head to check who it was that made her feel a negative way. Mia's breath stuck in her throat as she stared at the man standing in front of her. Even in ten lifetimes, Mia would never forget his face or his voice.
"Manny Sutton," Mia pronounced in a short breath.
"Mia Rudge," he said in a shocked whisper. Of course he recognized Mia as well.
The fact that he recognized Mia gave her all the boldness and confidence that she needed, and brought her back to the fact that she owned the entire building.
"What are you doing here?" Manny asked.
Mia sucked her teeth mockingly. She freaking liked this situation already, because she could see beads of sweat forming on Manny's brows.
"Isn't it obvious? I am the boss," Mia said with an air of authority. "Are you my new PA?" Mia asked even though she already sensed the answer.
Manny's discomfort was evident. "Yes, I am," he managed to answer.
Then Mia threw her head backwards and laughed like a witch.
"I was supposed to be working for a Ms. Kennedy, the new heiress," Manny said, still in shock.
"Yes, it is I, Mia Kennedy. I am the new heiress, and I am a Kennedy now, no longer Rudge," Mia responded with pride.
The color drained from Manny's face.
"Isn't karma a fucking bitch, huh?" Mia taunted. "The once wealthy, spoilt, and an arrogant Manny Sutton now a PA to the same girl he humiliated and taunted in college," Mia clapped her hands mockingly at Manny. "You know, I was going to turn the male PA down, but seeing that it is my greatest enemy, I would love to watch you bow to my orders every single day, Manny. I am going to make you feel what I felt all those years of torture from you," Mia said bitterly.
Manny's head fell, defeated.
"Every morning, you will hurry to work before me, get my coffee, run errands for me, and most importantly, you will extend the same service to my fiancé whenever he comes around..."
At the sound of 'fiancé', Manny's head snapped up in shock.
"You have been seeing the news too, right? Yes, Harlem, the owner of Top Vile company is my fiancé, but I am sure you cannot relate, because you obviously have nothing going for yourself," Mia taunted. She was having a swell time just seeing Manny in so much torture.
"So, do you accept the job, or do you want to quit?" Mia asked and waited for his response.
After a couple of minutes, Manny looked at Mia and said, "I will take the job."
"Good," Mia told him. "Welcome to hell, Manny Sutton."
