Chapter 4 Mega detention

Then what explains the messed room, the unscrewed socket, the handwriting on the window?", Cerina Ceril, you're in big trouble this time.

"Cerina Ceril, you've only been admitted to this school today and I can see that you're living up to your name. Your record states that you've been expelled from over eight schools in the last six months, all due to similar actions. You were only admitted to this school because of your uncle's plea to discipline you.", Principal Vance spoke sternly.

Cerina furrowed her brows at the mention of uncle and realized he was talking about Mr. Francis. "It's now obvious that you are a miscreant and a nuisance to society, I'll take it upon myself to discipline you thoroughly. Meet me at this office by 6pm. You've got Mega detention!", he said firmly, with every trace of smile long lost from the face.

Cerina gave Mr. Ben a side glance and noticed him shudder while staring at the principal somewhat surprised at the mention of Mega detention. She had little strength to argue now, she already had an extremely bad record. She was being punished for something she knew nothing about. A bitter smile formed on her lips, she thought about the irony of life. Here she was, having promised to make a change and avoid troubles but finding herself in a huge one on her very first day. Detention, she knew! But Mega detention?!, how bad could it be? Or so she thought..

She knew for a fact that she was being framed here, but who did so, she could only fold her fist in frustration, but she'd make sure she finds out who did that and make them pay!!

"You're still here? Leave at once and report by 6pm like I said", the principal said and Cece stood up, not saying another word, left immediately.

Inside the office, Mr. Ben quickly scampered, his emotions and expression changing totally from anger to somewhat concern and fear, "Mega detention! Is that not too much?", he asked the principal

The principal let out a sigh,"Too much? No, it's not. If I let this slide just like that, she'd probably do much more worse in the future. Ruthless behaviors demand ruthless actions. Go take a break! Once your office is cleaned, you can go back there!"

Cece stepped out of the office and was walking down the hallway when she spotted a figure standing across the hallway resting on a wall, legs crossed. At this time he looked like a demigod, exuding a menacingly cold aura, his gaze piercing and somewhat enchanting.

Cece looking at him could only picture one thing out of him - he was the villain in her story.

"Pfft..", a mocking smile hung on her lips when she remembered the niche others called him."Demon rod my foot!", she thought aloud.

She walked boldly towards him, his eyes still fixated on her. "If eyes could kill..".

She walked closely towards him and stopped only a breath away,"I know it was you", she said in a whisper loud enough for him to hear clearly. She turned and faced him not showing a hint of fear or backing down, "I'll pay back in your own coins", she said and turned to walk away.

"So you're not afraid?"Dylan spoke suddenly which caused her to stop abruptly in her tracks. "Aren't you afraid of me? Didn't anybody warn you? Or you just want to pay the price of your foolishness?"

"They did warn me Mr Demon Rod!"Cece said sarcastically and let out a mocking laughter "This time, you'll be the one to pay the price of your foolishness. Watch! And! See!", she said, throwing more emphasis on the last three words and walked away maintaining poise and elegance as she walked out leaving Dylan speechless.

A strange smile formed on Dylan's lips, he was impressed..

When Cerina walked back to the class, maths lesson had ended, and the teacher was about leaving the class

Hey. What kept you out so long?", Helena asked with concern

"Principal's office. There seems to be a misunderstanding but neither withstanding. I've got Mega detention." Cece said unfazed by what she said, seemingly oblivious to the gravity of punishment she had been assigned to but Helena's face had turned pale. "Mega detention?!", Helena asked again refusing to believe her ears.

Yeah, he said to come to his office by 6pm. I'm taking punishment for something I have no idea about. And guess what, I know your senior Dylan is involved in this. I'll get back at him for this, I promise!", Cece said

Helena was still shocked at what Cece said. How could the principal give a new student Mega detention on her very first day of school. "What was your offense for the principal to give you such punishment?", Helena asked and Cece narrated her ordeal at the principal's office. Helena had overheard some students saying something about a teacher being attacked but she didn't pay attention to what they were saying because she was not one to listen to gossips or school rumors.

"Cerina!, you didn't really do that, did you?", Helena asked confused

"Me?!, why would I do something like that. Not like I can't do it but even if I must do it, I always take responsibility for my actions. I'm not some coward who'd hide behind someone to get back at you. Besides I hold no grudge against him", Cece spoke.

"Did Senior Dylan tell you he did this?", Helena asked

"He didn't admit to it personally, but it's very obvious he's the one. I met him on my way back in the hall way. You needed to see that stupid smirk he had on him, telling me I should be afraid of him. I, Cerina will never be afraid of that loser!!", Cece shouted with fury.

"But what are you going to do now? Mega detention!! My whole body cringes only at the mention of it." Helena cried out

"What's the worse that could happen?", Cece asked

"Well, maybe just a little trauma, or worse you wouldn't survive it ", Helena replied lost in thought

"What do you mean, not survive it?", Cece asked eyes peaking with curiosity.

"The last time the principal gave a student Mega detention. I was only a junior student at the time. His name was Larry. He was a school bully like, a potential bully, always caught bullying fellow students, both junior and senior, harassing female students and beating up any teacher who dares him. The principal finally had enough of him and gave him mega detention. That was the last day I saw him in the school. His parents withdrew him from the school saying the child was traumatized after it. Some students rumored that he was unconscious and slipped into a coma due to shock, that's why he was withdrawn. It's all still rumors because the principal neither confirmed nor denied it. Some people say that mega detention is like a death sentence. No student prays to ever go there", Helena explained.

"Ohh! That's how it is." Cece replied, still showing no sign of fear. "Now, I'm only but curious", she said.

Helena looked at the brave girl and could only sigh in pity.

Soon, school was over, the day students returned to their homes and boarding students to their dorms. Cerina got to her little cabin and quickly brought out her provisions and began munching on them. She was super hungry. And she knew she wouldn't join in the dinner tonight because she'd be reporting to the principal's office for punishment. After eating to her fill, she took her shower and changed into casual wears. She wore a jean pants and blue polo, she tied her hoodie to her waist, preparing mentally and physically for what is to come. She picked up her dad's photo sitting nearby and forced a smile on her face. "Dad, I promised I'd be good but they're not good to me", she said and brought the picture close to her heart
