Chapter 3 Driving Him Mad

"Keep talking, what's different?" Derek Gregory's eyes flickered for a moment, as if he had caught onto some crucial piece of information.

Could it be that her disfigurement was fake?

Arianna bent down to pick up the photo at her feet and looked up with her starry eyes. "Darling, you don't know this, but this photo actually makes me look better. The scar under my mask is longer and uglier than the one in the picture. I wonder who the photographer is. They're really good. May I get their contact information?"

The veins on Dereks' forehead bulged. Was Arianna playing with him? he wanted to strangle her, and she kept calling him "Darling" shamelessly.

Trying to drive him mad?

Audrey scoffed internally. She was just about to fill her stomach when they dragged her down. Fine, but then they all sat around like Lords, humiliating her. Where did they get this sense of superiority?

"Seems you all are so curious about my appearance, I'll do you all a favor and take off my mask and reveal my true face. After all, an ugly bride has to meet her in-laws sooner or later."

Arianna's hand moved to the strings of her mask. Wendy held her breath, eager to see just how ugly this woman could be.

"Stop it! Get back!" Derek was furious beyond endurance. This woman was both ugly and stupid, was she trying to take him on a tour to his grave?

"I'm heading upstairs now," Arianna said, striding up the stairs with a light step after riling up the person behind her.

Behind her, Isabella was practically scratching at her heart in frustration, groaning aloud.

"What kind of bad karma did our Edwards family accumulate in the past life to deserve such ugly woman tormenting us? Oh, I can't take it. I'm going to have a heart attack from all this frustration."

Arianna returned to her room, ready to remove her mask and eat. Suddenly, she realized the maid was still standing there, eyes wide with curiosity, clearly eager to catch a glimpse of her supposedly hideous face.

"You can go now. I'll call you when I'm done eating."

"I'm sorry... yes, ma'am," the maid replied, leaving the room.

Only then did Arianna take off her mask.

But there was no scar on her face, instead, it was a stunningly beautiful face, flawless and smooth. Her skin was like porcelain, her eyes bright and perfect complimented by her elegantly shaped nose, and her lips were so vibrant and inviting that they seemed to beg for a kiss.

Actually, when Arianna was twelve, her birth mother, Tiana, passed away from a severe illness. Not long after her mother's death, her father, Gideon Gray, made a grand show of marrying Paula Miller, who brought along an older stepsister, Kayla.

Paula and Kayla always saw Arianna as a thorn in their side. One day, on her way home from school, Arianna was ambushed by some thugs sent by Kayla, each holding a knife, determined to ruin her beautiful face, leaving it disfigured.

That day, if it hadn't been for a stranger who saved her, her face would have been ruined for sure.

Taking advantage of the situation, Arianna bribed those thugs to create an illusion that her face had been disfigured. Since then, she had always worn a mask to hide the truth.

Arianna eagerly picked up a piece of nicely prepared steak and popped it into her mouth, savoring the happiness it brought.

Half an hour later, she finished her meal. The maid, estimated the time, knocked on the door to come in and clear the dishes.

At that moment, Arianna was standing in the bathroom ready to wash her face. Wearing a mask all day made her face feel suffocated. The maid had knocked for a while, but when no one responded, she then let herself in.

Downstairs, the Young Master was about to come up. Known for his cleanliness, he would surely scold them if he saw the leftover food scattered around.

Arianna finished washing her face and was about to look for her mask when the maid pointed at her and screamed.

!!!!!!!!!

"Madam... your... your face..."

The maid's mouth hung wide open. Wasn't Madam supposed to be hideously disfigured? But this face, so delicate and flawless, couldn't possibly belong to the rumored ugly madam!

Had she seen a ghost? Just a moment ago in the kitchen, everyone had gathered around, searching for photos of the disfigured Madam on their phones. The woman in those photos was indeed ugly and terrifying but the woman who appeared in front of her wasn't.

Sooner than later, Derek suddenly appeared at the doorway, his face dark and stormy. "It's late, why are you screaming?"
