Chapter 6 6

Three days later...

Daisy glanced outside through the window of the hotel's restroom. The rain was beating on the glass like some bizarre drummer. Inside her, the grief heightened to an unmeasurable quantity. Her parents left her when she was just five. After they died, her grandmother was her only shelter. She had always supported and cherished her. But now, it felt like she was leaving her too. It had been two days since the doctors took her to the ICU.

She didn't come to the work and stayed with her. There was no improvement and she was still like a mannequin on the bed. Daisy had no intention to come to work, leaving her grandmother there. But the bills left her with no choice.

Snapping out of her thoughts, when she felt someone entered the room, she wiped the warm tears that had streamed down her cheeks.

"Daisy, you are here!" It was Shua's voice. She sounded so apprehensive and urgent.

Daisy managed to smile. "I am back to work. What's going on?"

Shua exhaled a deep breath as she walked over and hugged her friend. "I am relieved that you are back. If you were not, the police would have locked me in jail because of murdering that crazy man."

Daisy huffed. "What happened?" She just prayed there wasn't something big. Her fragile heart had gone through a lot, it wasn't able to withstand more.

Shua pulled away and looked at her, too tired to talk. "The man in VIP 9 has gone nuts. He is breaking things. Not only that, he has been drinking a lot and shouting at everyone who goes inside."

Daisy's brows bumped together. "What does he want?"

"You. He wants to see you." Shua said. The man was asking to see her since the day she left. No one was able to calm him down.

"What?" Daisy almost yelped. She thought he was just flirting with her three days ago. But now she realized he was truly desperate.

Shua nodded. "Yes, we tried to handle everything. But today he is like he will kill me if I don't take you to him."

Daisy sighed. "I am going to him. Don't worry."

"Thank you. But you should be careful. He is like a wild animal." Although she got a little relief, she was worried about Daisy now. The man was truly insane.

"I will." Assuring her with a genuine smile, Daisy proceeded to the VIP room.

The room was a total mess, the alcoholic smell had spread in every niche. On the floor, he had broken dozens of bottles. Heaving a deep sigh, she stumbled inside carefully, trying not to step on the broken glass pieces.

As she turned the lights on, she discovered Alex sitting on the couch, glaring at her murderously. He looked so pale and his eyes were as red as blood. "Where the hell have you been?" He shouted before he chugged down the remaining wine in the bottle.

Frightened, Daisy almost jumped when he threw the bottle on the floor. "I... was..."

"What? You were what? Why did you leave me alone when I needed you the most? Damn it." The muscles in his throat worked, and his hands clenched at his sides. For a moment she thought he was going to hit her.

But with tears forming in eyes, Daisy shouted in rage. "I am not your slave. You didn't buy me, Mr Alex. Who gave you the right to shout at me like this?" She forced herself to be strong, and not to cry in front of him. How could he shout at her all the time?

Although the glints of tears in her eyes pinched his heart, he managed to ignore the emotions that were flooding through him. "So you can be bought? By what? Money?"

Daisy stiffened in the spot, unable to talk. It felt like a sharp blade stabbing her heart, ripped by despair so thick and bitter that she couldn't breathe.

"How much?" His mouth twisted into a snarl as he remembered she said she needs a lot of money. "How much do you cost? How much do I need to pay to have all of you? To have the rights on you? " He asked and looked at her face that was drenched in tears now.

He didn't give her enough, was it the reason she didn't come? Was it what she was? A greedy, golddigger? Did he misunderstand her as a pure girl all the time? The questions snapped inside his head.

She fought against the bile rising in her throat. "That's what you have taken me as, Mr Alex? Is that why you were nice to me? Oh! Now I understand. You have planned it from the start. But I am sorry. I am not a fucking product. My pride is priceless. You can find a better match anytime who is willing to please you." Thrusting herself out of the room, she disappeared from his sight.

Alex sat there numbly until his phone rang and he grabbed it to answer. "Yes, inspector Blake." His voice shook.

"The body we found two days ago in New York isn't Ms Rhianna's body. It's someone else." The information was given from the other side.

A relieved sigh escaped his lips. He felt like the heavy stone had finally moved from his heart. "Alright, thank you. Please, tell me if you get any news again."
