Chapter 3 Trí

"Be careful out there Belle, you don't know who's lurking around the corner." My father says, for the umpteenth time looking concerned for my well being no matter how much I tell him that I'm fine. I have to be even in this small town people talk well more like gossip especially the fact Ciarán Mitchell had been found dead at his stately home everyone around here is petrified if it will be them next no one saw or heard anything.

Which was kind of strange as they had so many guards on that property that a hit man wouldn't even get in so it had to be someone who knew exactly who they were there for and to cause a diversion. I want to go into law. My father doesn't know that yet but he will soon. I have this year left and I intend to get the hell out of dodge. I hate this fucking place it's like a fucking prison the time curries are so damn rediculus we can't even take a shit that's how rediculus they are. I'm in a Catholic all girls school cause my beloved father and the sagart paróiste (parish priest). He's so damn strict I feel like hitting my head on the wall. He doesn't care that I want a life beyond the church. I'm not in any way religious and he just doesn't get it. He doesn't get that I want to grow up and spread my wings like most of my friends who aren't brainwashed by the shite he spreads he's no fucking Saint and never wil be in my eyes he's accumulated so much debt over the years I'm surprised he hasn't been offed yet. "I will father." I say sarcastically.

"I mean it, Bella there are dangers lurking out there it's not safe to stay out longer than school hours."

"Is that why you introduced the damn curfew?"

"It's for the best Bella for all of you."

"For you, you mean?"

"That's enough Bella."

I know I shouldn't push his buttons but I do anyway just to see how far I can get before he lashes out . "It's the truth, father. You put these stupid restrictions on us cause you're scared that if you don't, someone will take your precious daughter and you'll never see her again. You don't give a damn about this town, just what you can get out of it!"

The crack against my face comes quicker than I can retaliate. My head snaps to the side. "How dare you disrespect me Bella. I'm your father and you do as I say until you are old enough to leave this house."

My hand is on my cheek stunned he slapped me he usually hits me where no one can see so no one gossips about the abuse he gives his own flesh and blood, sagart paróiste (parish priest) everyone loks up to for guidance well fuck him and fuck them. "I HATE YOU!" I see a grabbing my bag and getting the fuck out of the house beofre he scan last out at me agian days like these I wish my mother was here to see what kind of monster she married. I wish she had taken me with her when she left, but then again I would be six feet under with her. I often wonder if he had her offed. or did it himself. I wish I was with her most days where I don't have Fionn Mitchell to talk to. It's a very rare occasion that I can slip out and talk to him. He's my rock in a hard place. He doesn't know what is going on at home cause I'm sure he would kill my father if he knew the sagart paróiste (parish priest) isn't all he's making his pathetic ass to be.

Right now I hate my life and want it to end but then I wouldn't be able to go to college away from here and him. The only person I would miss apart from the few friends I have is Fionn Mitchell, my guardian Angel. No one understands why I have feelings for a man who enjoys torturing others. I can't answer that but I know one thing: I will never let my father stop me from doing what and being friends with the angel of death.

Students stare at me as I enter the college, gasping and talking to themselves, fuck I forgot the fucking foundation.

Cally and Hally walk up to me and look concerned at me. "What happens to your face, Bell?"

"I hit the shower door. I forgot it was glass, silly me."

"You haven't got to pretend with us, Bell, we know how your father is."

I sighed. "Fine but this goes no further."

"Cross our hearts."

"We had a misunderstanding this morning and I took it too far and he lashed out."

"You should report him, Belle, if you dont it could get worse."

They have no idea how bad it can get.

"Cally is right Belle, you need to go to the cops of the church board."

I laugh hysterically. "They won't even believe me guys. I know you're trying to help but he's the sagart paróiste (parish priest) and people look up to him they won't believe he has hit his only daughter."

They sigh in defeat, they know I'm right so they drop it and we head inside straight to the bathroom where I put on a shite ton of foundation.

The day goes slow and I'm in no mood to return home so I head to the lake and sit down and look out, watching the boats on the lake brings me so much peace wanting nothing more than to escape from here by boat never to be found again.

A shadow overcast mine before the stranger sits down besides me. "What are you doing out here Bella?"

I shiver, a good kind of shiver, knowing it's Fionn. We've talked here a lot over the years even if he's at least six years older than me. I am grateful for his company. "Avoiding going home right now."

"You know there's a curfew right now?"

"I couldn't give a fuck about the curfew I need time to myself."

He nods then places his hand on my chin and turns it towards him. I stare into his beautiful green eyes wanting nothing more than to drown in them. "Well you should."

"We'll I don't they were only out there to keep me inside fuck the dangers. You're the most dangerous guy I know and you don't even scare me."

"Well I should."

"Well you don't."

He smiles and grazes his finger across my lips. "What would you say if I knew a way out of your predicament?"

"I would laugh and say that you're delusional."

"I'm being serious Bella."

"Then I would have to reject your offer. I have plans and it's not to stick around here."

"What if I could make your dreams come true if you do this one thing for me."

"Depends on what it would be."

Fionn

Belle was the last person I thought I would see tonight by the lake. I had a lot going on in my head with the death of my older brother now, the clause that had been left with us about the money that the sagart paróiste (parish priest) had owed my Ciarán.

"What are you both doing here? I spoke to you yesterday."

"We would like to come in and talk to you about a few things."

"Sure come in." He said hesitantly and nervously. I wasn't even sure why I was here all I knew that this shite bag owed Ciarán a substantial amount of money and now with his passing time was ticking down to deliver. I had no idea what he and Ciarán had discussed, but Elon did.

We both walked into the parish priest's home which was situated at the back of the church. He closes the door making sure no one saw us come in here. We sit down and he strides confidently across the room and sits in his worn armchair. "So what is it I can do for the both of you?"

"Well if you haven't already heard, Ciarán has passed suddenly and we would like to bury him at the church graveyard."

"I'm sorry for your death but that is Impossible."

"Nothing is impossible, don't forget you owe Ciarán Fifty six thousand euros. This is the least you can do for our family. Don't you think? After all, your father would be so disappointed in you knowing that you failed to keep a generation of Mitchell's together in the family graveyard." He said clenching his fists and gritting his teeth. I had no idea of the amount he owed Ciarán. I was never around when they discussed it. I was too young to be involved in those types of dealings. But I guess I'll have to be from now on. I was learning the ropes through both Fionn and Ciarán before his sudden death.

he sighs deeply. "Fine, I'll bury your brother."

"Now that wasn't so hard was it?" Fionn grits out. "To the next line of business. Your time is running out in repaying your debt. I believe you and Ciarán agreed on the timeline and I believe Bella will be turning eighteen in a few weeks."
