Chapter 5 Five Hot Topics on Social Media

Abner's eyes sparkled as he stared at the steaming plate of spicy meat Nora had just cooked. His stomach growled loudly.

"That looks so good... I'm starving," he muttered, practically drooling. Then, with a pitiful look, he added, "Dad hasn't fed me for two whole days."

Nora blinked, confused.

Wait a minute. Isn't he from the Murphy family? There's no way Mason would let his son go hungry. Don't tell me they're broke now?

"Mom, I'm so hungry," Abner whined again.

Nora rolled her eyes.

Why does this little guy keep calling me 'Mom'? Is he planning to move in and make me his new mother? Oh no, please don't do this to me, kid. I already have two little troublemakers at home who drive me insane. I can't handle another spoiled rich kid!

Just then, Asher smirked and chimed in. "Whoa, Mom! Since when did you get yourself another son my age? And here I thought you didn't like older men, that my father is just a mistake, as you said."

Without hesitation, Nora grabbed her slipper and hurled it at him.

"Get lost!"

Asher dodged, grinning, and walked over to Abner, eyeing him from head to toe. "Hold on... aren't you Abner Murphy? You're worth, like, a hundred billion. What are you doing in this tiny house? Did you lose your way?"

"Enough, Asher Tylor!" Nora snapped. "Can't you see he's about to faint from hunger? Go get him some water before people start saying I starved a Murphy heir to death."

Asher wanted to argue, but then an idea popped into his head. He grinned mischievously. "Perfect timing. I need your help with something."

While Asher ran off, Nora brought a bowl of soup and sat beside Abner. She studied his little face.

Hmm... He really does look like Mason. Not even a hint of Amanda's features. Weird. Actually... I feel like I've seen this face before.

"Here, drink this," she said, handing him the spoon.

Abner, however, pouted and shook his head. "I can't. I'm too weak. I haven't eaten in days... I can't even move."

Nora stared at him.

This kid is a master manipulator.

At first, she assumed the Murphy family had only left Abner with her temporarily. But two days passed, and no one came to pick him up. Now, she was getting suspicious.

Mason, do you really want me to raise your son like a commoner so he can experience a tough life before inheriting your fortune?

While Nora fretted over what to do, Asher and Abner seemed to be having the time of their lives. They bonded surprisingly well, though Asher saw Abner as an easy target and kept pushing him to hack into Mason's bank account for some spending money.

Of course, it was still too early to tell which of the two was actually the bigger troublemaker.

That night, Nora left the boys and the dog in the study flopped onto the couch and grabbed her phone to check Instagram.

Her eyes widened.

Trending Topics:

These topics were everywhere, and the internet was in a frenzy.

Within half an hour, billions of people had already engaged with the posts.

Curious, Nora clicked on the post with the leaked photos.

I can't miss any juicy gossip about Mason. That man chased me around for six months-I should at least return the favor by liking the post.

But when the image loaded, she froze.

Her stomach dropped.

"Asher Tylor!"

She jumped off the couch, stormed into the study, and yanked the boy out by the collar.

"What is this nonsense on Instagram?! 'Secret Son'? Are you out of your mind? Do you have a death wish?!"

Holding up her phone, she pointed at the screen and glared at Asher.

"Okay, you do look like him in these pictures, but let's be real-you're a nobody! Don't even think about claiming someone like Mason as your dad!"

Asher just smirked. "Relax, Mom. I edited the photos so we'd look alike."

Nora's eye twitched.

I swear, this kid is going to be the death of me.

"WHY?" she demanded.

The little troublemaker shrugged. "Simple. That man made your life miserable for six months. I just wanted to annoy him a little."

Nora felt a surge of warmth in her chest. Just as she was about to hug him for being such a sweet son, Asher smirked and added, "Besides, if he wants to clear the rumors, he has to do a DNA test with me... and I'll only agree if he pays me a billion dollars."

"GET OUT!"

Meanwhile, over at the Murphy estate, Amanda's hands trembled as she stared at her phone screen.

The device slipped from her fingers and crashed onto the floor.

This is impossible.

Mason doesn't have another son! I know for a fact that he hasn't touched any woman in years. The only time he did was eight years ago... with Nora.

Wait. No.

A chilling thought crossed her mind.

What if the doctor made a mistake back then? What if both of her babies were actually born?

No. No way.

Ring!

Amanda's heart pounded as she bent down and picked up her phone. It was her mother calling.

"Mom?" she answered, trying to steady her voice.

"Amanda! Have you seen Twitter? Is it true? Does Mason have another son? That boy looks exactly like him!"

Amanda gritted her teeth.

"I have a feeling he's Nora's other child. Mom, I need you to dig into this. If he's really Mason's son, we're in trouble. If Nora gets even the tiniest chance to rise again, I'll be the one getting kicked out of this house."

Her mother's voice turned sharp. "Damn it! I thought she had disappeared for good. Why did she come back? I'll investigate this immediately. If the boy is really Mason's-"

"Kill him," Amanda cut in coldly.

There was a pause. Then, her mother agreed. "Understood. You should also call Mrs. Murphy. She adores Abner. If you make her believe Nora is nothing but trash, she'll never let that woman step into the family."

Meanwhile, in his study, Mason frowned as he scrolled through the trending posts.

Three billion views in one hour?

This was even crazier than the time people found out about Abner.

Mason stared at the image of the boy.

He looked even more like him than Abner did.

His grip on his phone tightened.

Something wasn't right.
