Chapter 5 The Threat

Rory's eyes widened as she stared at the message on the door. Alex's eyes narrowed, his jaw clenched in anger.

"Who do you think did this?" Rory asked, her voice trembling.

Alex's eyes scanned the area, his gaze lingering on the shadows. "I don't know," he muttered. "But I'm going to find out."

Rory felt a shiver run down her spine as she watched Alex's face. She knew that he was capable of great violence, and the thought of him seeking revenge was terrifying.

"Alex, don't do anything," she said, her voice firm. "We'll go to the police."

Alex's eyes flashed with anger. "The police can't help us," he growled. "This is a warning, Rory. Someone is trying to scare us off."

Rory felt a wave of fear wash over her. She knew that Alex was right, that the police might not be able to protect them.

But she also knew that she couldn't just sit back and do nothing. She had to take action, had to protect herself and Alex.

"Okay," she said, her voice firm. "We'll take care of this ourselves. But we have to be careful."

Alex's eyes narrowed, his gaze lingering on hers. "I'll take care of it," he muttered. "You just stay safe."

Rory felt a surge of frustration. She knew that Alex was trying to protect her, but she also knew that she couldn't just sit back and do nothing.

"I'm not going to hide," she said, her voice firm. "I'm going to help you figure out who did this."

Alex's eyes flashed with anger, but Rory stood her ground. She knew that she had to take action, had to protect herself and Alex.

And as they stood there, locked in a fierce stare-down, Rory knew that she was in this for the long haul. She was going to help Alex, no matter what it took.
