Chapter 5 Still processing...

A knock on Daemon's door brought him back to earth.

"Come in" replied Daemon awaken from his thought. His mom walked into the room with a tray in her hand.

"I've been knocking for three minutes and forty two seconds" she said in a calm tone.

"Do you keep time on everything?" Daemon asked with a pint of comedy in his tone.

She gave him a sneer "after God, time is the ruler of the cosmos, revere it as you would your creator".

"Yes ma'am" he said trying to end the lecture as soon as it begun, he really enjoys hearing his mom talk about topics, it interest him so much cause it reminds him of her days as a professor in the university, but right now he doesn't have the stomach for it. "What do you got there?" He asked referring to the tray she was holding.

"Be a good son and come help your momma out".

"Sure" he collected the tray from her and gently laid it on his bedside table.

"I noticed you pinched your food during dinner, you may not be hungry but that doesn't stop your system from functioning". Daemon sighed.

"I understand son, i do. Everyone wants you to be strong and brave and appear untouched but my boy, you are human, a human with a soul, body, spirit, emotions and hormones. You have every right to cry as much as you feel like, you have every right to feel hurt and let it out, this" she opened her arm wide "is your safe space".

At this point, every tear, feeling and emotion Daemon had managed to hold back came rushing fast, he fell into her embrace and cried like a baby, he cried hard and deep, he let out the hurt, pain and guilt he felt for not being able to save his marriage, he let out everything he felt within him, for the first time he felt his chest loosened and he could breath again without turning to see who was watching and who wasn't, he felt super safe and all he did was cry...

..... Few moments later....

"Thanks ma" came Daemon's voice from the bed, although wall faced and slightly asleep, he noticed his mom leaving the room.

"Night night my bon" replied his mom as she gently closed the door. She walked past his room to Wolfe's room, she peered and found him asleep with a book in his hand, she tiptoed into the room, took the book from his hand and laid the covers properly over him and tiptoed out. She checked on all the rooms before retiring for the night. After a few prayers she shut her eyes in sleep...

.....next day at breakfast....

Breakfast time at the Kingston mansion feels like a grand celebration especially with the entire family present. it is the only time the whole family sits at the large dining table cause at brunch, lunch and other meal time, one or two members might be at work, in a meeting or busy else where with whatever activity they stumble on. Hence, making it a must participation by every member. This breakfast is not going to be like the past breakfasts... Grand bon was able to gather everyone by going room to room and employing whatever possible tactic to drag them out of their room and bringing them to the breakfast table. Though present bodily, everybody's mind seem to be elsewhere, food has been barely touched, even those that chew has forgotten or is confused by what the taste is. The table has a melancholic aura strung up in the air, nobody wants to really be here right now.

"My gosh, if this weren't my home i'd think this is a haunted house!" bolted Grand bon. Her lash out jolted the life back in the room, connecting minds back to body and cutting off trails of thoughts. "I don't remember this table being this quiet for minutes, sheesh! get it together people before you give me a high blood pressure, even mute people make a lot of noise at breakfast!" she peered across the room to see if her efforts left any impact...nothing... she sighed "Look, we are Kingstons and Kingstons go through the roughest. That's what keeps us burning and shining. You can leave if you don't want to be here" she leaned back on her chair exhausted. "What have you done pearl" she muttered to herself...
