Chapter 5 Hidden secrets

Tiara's POV

My hands razzle the gown I had one as I flipped my head around, boring holes into the man I had always known as my father, who seemed so distant and awkward.

" That isn't what I want to know, what do you mean about my father? '' I demanded, while trying to keep my voice low so as not to arouse suspicion.

I could see the ladies who I had intended to meet eagerly watching and all it would take was one mishap and I would go back to the very place I would rather not be in. Gossips would trail my path.

" Your father didn't want you, do you know what it would mean for a father to dump his child? You are a curse, Tiara. You were never loved. Now, you come into our lives and take a man that would have been Zara's? How dare you?" He raged.

I was dumbfounded for a moment at the allegations thrown at me. I definitely didn't want to do it, but he had left me no choice at the nonsense he was spouting at the moment.

" A man that should have been Zara's?" I questioned, wanting to be sure that my ears haven't been playing tricks on me.

Larry was certainly not Zara's. Zara could only dream of ever bagging him, while I had gotten him.

He bridged the gap between us, his eyes blazing in rage.

"Yes, a man that should have been hers. If there is anything that you shouldn't get, it is the lycan king, how exactly did you end up getting married to him?"

"Where did you even meet him? Moreover, why are you married to him without my consent? I raised you, so I have as much right to know your husband, not inviting me over for some stupid party and letting him insult me to my face!'' he deadpanned.

With hands clenched, I took in all the words he had said to me. Trying so hard to fight the torrent of tears that threatened to snake down my cheek. I was in pain, was hurt and I couldn't show it. It would only make me weak.

I couldn't quite place my hands on why exactly I felt this way, if it had to do with finding out that my father never wanted me, nor my mother knowing that I had been raised by someone this awful.

"You disowned me, remember?" I tried to stay still while bringing his mind to that.

"You disgraced me in front of the pack, your men dragged me out of your trailer, so what do you mean by Larry introducing himself to you? Bernard is enough for Zara, isn't he? Or do you think that he would let her go for someone else? Don't you have an iota of shame in you?"

I continued. " I was your daughter as well. You loved me at one point, you wanted the best for me at one point and I thought you actually did care for me until you walked Zara just so she could get married to the Alpha, and now you want my husband?"

His chin clenched before he erupted into echoes of laughter, sending ripples down my vein.

" Why would I want you? From little, you weren't able to shift, you had a wolf, but you couldn't shift, but what did I expect from an abandoned child...'' he shrugged.

" One who killed her mother just so she could get into the world" he spat venomously.

Tiny needles pricked my heart as blood dripped as they ran deeper. My eyes squeezed shut. " You didn't mean that, did you?"

" Now imagine what would happen when Larry finds out..." my throat parched as my eyes ran through the hall, where Larry blew a kiss at me.

" He would toss you out of his life, the lycan council would never want someone whose heritage isn't confirmed to be their rightful queen, one who was abandoned." His hands dug into my shoulders.

" That is why you will reject Larry and go back to Bernard, you can have him while Zara get the lycan king, it is the little that you should do"

I sneered. " You ought to be joking because do you think I'm a fool? One you will instruct me to do whatever you please and I will. I'm not concerned with whatever you think, but I am not leaving Larry and you won't tell me what to do because...''

My eyes squinted when he raised a hand attempting to strike me across the cheek, when a hand held it in the air.

" Larry" I whispered, my breath hitched when his scent drifted into my nostrils.

" I wouldn't do that if I were you, do you want to live the rest of your days without one? I bet you don't want that" he yanked his hands off, before turning to take a glance at me.

" I knew they would be trouble if they came around, but trying to hit you was and is out of it. Guards!" His voice boomed across the hall.

I was at a loss at what to do, if he insisted on chasing him out, my secret would be in the open.

My father snickered, inching closer." You don't want to listen to what I have to say? Larry...you ought to know that...."

With a flick of his wrist, the guards tugged him out, dragging him like he weighed nothing.

" Get off me! Is this how you act? I am the Queen's father, how dare you? Tiara.... Zara...tell her to instruct them to let me go. Tiara....do something" his voice faded while I stood, transfixed to the spot.

Larry's eyes drizzled with warmth, his hands wrapped around my shoulders. " I am sorry that you had to face that alone. I was caught up with the elders, and they wouldn't just let me go" he tried to explain when I shook my head at him.

" Aren't you curious? To know what he had to say? I know that you would want to know, and I can...." I gulped in the trail of words when he placed a finger on my lips.

" I trust you, Tiara, and that is all that matters. I also know that you wouldn't hurt me, you have shown me that countless times, and I wasn't joking when I said, your enemies are mine, all you have to do is give the word and I will make their lives unbeatable"

"But..." I attempted to bring his attention back to the issue at hand.

" Let me worry about us. All you have to do is sit still and continue being my Luna, your past doesn't matter to me" his face contorted into a smile that tugged at my heart.

Would he have the same answer if he found out what I was hiding?
