Chapter 2 The Shadow in the Night

Aria walked beside Kael, her senses on high alert as they navigated the darkening landscape. The shadows seemed to writhe and twist around them, like living things. "What are these shadows?" Aria asked, her voice barely above a whisper. Kael's eyes narrowed, his gaze scanning the darkness. "They are creatures of the night," he said. "Born of darkness and fed by fear." Aria felt a shiver run down her spine. "What do they want?" she asked. Kael's voice was low and deadly. "They want the power of the gods," he said. "And they'll stop at nothing to get it." Aria knew she had to be brave.

She steeled herself, ready to face whatever lay ahead. As they walked, the shadows deepened. Aria felt the weight of the unknown pressing down upon her. Suddenly, Kael stopped, his head cocked to one side. "What is it?" Aria asked, her voice barely above a whisper. Kael's eyes were fixed on something in the distance. "A presence," he said. "Something powerful." Aria felt a surge of fear mixed with excitement. "What is it?" she asked again. Kael's voice was low and deadly. "A god," he said. "One of the old ones." Aria's eyes widened in awe. "What does it want?" she asked. Kael's eyes were fixed on the presence. "It wants you," he said. "You, Aria, are the key to unlocking an ancient power."
