Chapter 2 First Encounter

I have felt completely unsettled lately, my wolf Chaos keeps telling me I can feel something is coming. I have spent the best part of a week trying to avoid my father as he keeps trying to push me to take Una, the daughter of an Alpha from another pack in the area as my chosen mate.

Una is nice but far too timid for my liking and boring. She is pretty I guess but if I am honest she really isn't for me. I need a female who will give it back to me, not a yes female like her. I am trying to get through the paperwork for a construction deal I have been overseeing for the family company.

My parents keep pushing for me to take the Alpha position but I am not in a hurry. The thought of being stuck behind a desk instead of being out on the Harley is enough for me to run and keep running. I am now twenty three, everyone keeps telling me to find my mate. I mean is it that bad I don't want my mate I like my life as it is. I definitely do not want Una.

Chaos refuses to mark anyone as our Luna except our true mate and let me tell you this, there will be no mate for me. I can hear someone making their way towards my office but before they even knock on the door Atlas my Beta voice comes into my head. 'Hey man, you coming to the bar?'

'Sure give me half an hour to finish up' I answer before Una's head pops around the door.

'Scrap that I am on the way' I say quickly before shutting off our pack link.

"Oh Maddox, are you off somewhere?" Her sickly sweet voice that irritates me to no end.

"Yes sorry, was there something you needed?" I ask back while making a big deal of getting ready.

"No, I just thought we could spend some time together.'' She answers with a disappointed look on her face.

"Sorry, important business, I need to go maybe some other time" I say as I push past her before she can touch me. My body recoils at the thought of her touching me. I know I am being harsh. She's a lovely person and would make someone else a good Luna, just not me.

Jumping on the Harley and feeling it come to life before I can get caught by my father I am out of the pack lands and beyond the border. Arriving at the bar, there is a brand new shiny sports bike parked close to Atlas's chopper, a space I normally use. Who the fuck rides that crotch rocket? And why are they in my space? I was not in the mood for some smart ass from another pack, I think as I stormed into the bar.

The minute I enter I notice two things, one the smell of cherries and cream hit me head on making me almost salivate, and two the stranger sitting at the bar with my Beta. It's coming from her the scent and the distinctive scent of a blood sucking vampire. As Atlas notices me his smile slips, taking in my clear pissed off demeanour.

"Alpha'' He says as he bends his neck in submission to me. The minute she turns around I am floored, she is fucking sex on legs. Fuck, she is stunning but not in a good girl lovely person type of way like Una. No, she is more ill fuck you up and you cant do nothing except take it. Looking at her red eyes and sexy red full lips that spread into a slow sexy smile.

Snap out of it Maddox; fuck she is still a vampire, and judging by her aura she is high ranking but why is she here? Gaining the power of speech I look at my Beta.

"Who's is the fucking crotch rocket in my space?" I snap.

"That would be my crotch rocket" She says in a thick Russian accent, fuck that's sexy as hell the way her eyes are basically challenging me. Grunting at her I then turn to Jared.

"Bourbon, in fact make it a bottle" I say, as I turn and make my way to the other end of the bar to my usual stool. "Sure thing Alpha" The minute the bottle is placed in front of me I down two full glasses.

"Rough day Maddox?" Atlas says as he takes the seat next to me. Atlas and I grew up together, he has been my best friend for as long as I can remember. Not even bothering to look up from my glass I ask.

"Who is the visitor?" I don't have to look up to know he's smiling and before I can say anything he flat out pisses me off by waving her over.

"Alpha Maddox, let me introduce you to Lyra" I swear if the bar wasn't packed I would fucking rip is throat out for this. The moment I look up she is standing right in front of me, fuck she is a distraction I really don't need right now but man what a fucking distraction. I am drawn from my inner thoughts by the slim porcelain hand with long red nails the same colour as her lips and eyes.

"Alpha Maddox" She says in her accent. Flicking my eyes to her face I see the smirk and a perfectly arched eyebrow waiting for me to take her hand, and even though I know is a bad fucking move I take her hand. The minute we touch I am surprised by two things, she isn't cold and the sparks of the mate bond fire up and Chaos is howling in my head.

Fuck, Fuck, Fuck. No this cant be fucking happening right now and a vampire the goddess really is playing games with me. I don't even realise I am still holding her hand until Atlas clears his throat drawing me back to the prescient. She was standing with her head tilted to the side observing me. I draw my hand back wanting distance between us but not wanting her to go at the same time. I have no idea why but I blurted out.

"You're not cold?" If I thought her voice was sexy fuck the laugh that rings from her goes straight to my crotch as my cock comes to life. Seriously now? I think.

"Excuse me laughing Alpha but I was born a vampire not turned" She just looks at me before turning to leave and go back to her seat swaying that perfectly shaped ass of hers. Mentally slapping myself I quietly watch her from the other end of the bar, her confidence is fucking sexy but why is her talking and laughing with Jerad bothering me so much.

I don't want a mate, and I certainly do not want a fucking vampire not even one as sexy as she is. Chaos my wolf is laughing at me in my head.
