Now that she had severed ties, they shouldn't dream of gaining any benefits from her ever again.
The Hunter Family Group
"President Hunter, the project plan for Universe Group was prepared by Secretary Hunter. The document is with her."
"Secretary Brown met with the investors from Space Square today. Some terms might not have been agreed upon, and the investors just called to say they're withdrawing their investment..."
"The market research report for White Cloud was supposed to be compiled by Secretary Hunter. All we have here are scattered pieces..."
"..."
Listening to the secretarial team's reports, Chester's head throbbed.
"Go to Bella's computer and retrieve the Universe Group project bidding plan. It's needed for tomorrow morning's bidding conference."
He had always been regarded as a young business prodigy, managing the company effortlessly. This was the first time he felt overwhelmed.
"Wasn't the Space Square investment already finalized, just waiting for the signatures? How could something so certain fall through?"
"And the White Cloud market research report-I need it compiled and on my desk before the end of the day."
The secretarial staff's expressions turned grim.
"President Hunter, with such a tight deadline, we may not be able to complete it by the end of the day..."
Chester shot them a cold glare. "Then work overtime. You leave when it's done."
The secretaries exchanged bitter glances before quickly lowering their heads and exiting the office.
As Chester continued processing documents, his head soon started spinning.
Unconsciously, he recalled how Bella used to organize everything for him-he only needed to sign.
At that moment, a secretary knocked and entered.
"President Hunter, Secretary Hunter's computer doesn't have the Universe Group project bidding plan..."
"What?"
Chester's brows furrowed tightly. "The bidding conference is tomorrow, and you're telling me now that the plan is missing?"
The secretary looked troubled. "The project department had a version of the plan, but it was later rejected by Secretary Hunter. Should I have them print it out instead?"
"No need." Chester took a deep breath. "Leave."
It was just a bidding plan-he would get it from Bella.
He dialed her number. "Send me the Universe Group project bidding plan."
His tone was casual. "Dad told you, right? Come to the office early tomorrow morning. A lot of work has piled up these past few days."
Bella twirled a pen between her fingers, smiling lazily. "President Hunter, I've already sent my resignation letter to your email."
"What?" Chester's voice rose. "Bella, are you out of your mind?"
He was completely thrown off. "You've thrown tantrums before, fine. I even transferred shares to you. What more do you want?"
Bella's voice turned cold. "I told you, those shares are what I rightfully earned for my years working for the Hunter Family Group."
"Fine, fine, they're yours." Chester's impatience was evident. "Can you stop making a fuss now?"
Bella gazed out the window, her heart calm as still water. "Chester, face reality. I've cut ties with the Hunter family."
With that, she hung up.
"Beep... beep... beep..."
Hearing the disconnected tone, Chester's eyes widened in disbelief.
Bella... How dare she?
Without the Hunter family, what was she?
No-if Bella wasn't coming to the office, who would handle all these matters?
Chester immediately redialed, but the only response was a robotic voice: "Sorry, the number you have dialed is unavailable."
She had blocked him.
He nearly smashed his phone in frustration.
It took him a moment to collect himself, but the agitation remained.
The Universe Group bidding project was crucial-he had to secure it for the Hunter Family Group's future development.
Meanwhile
Bella calmly set her phone down and looked at the young man in front of her. "Continue."
"President Hunter, didn't you say last time that you weren't going to participate in Universe Group's bidding project? Why the sudden change of heart?"
Bella smiled. "Like you said-that was last time."
Back then, she still had a shred of familial sentiment for the Hunter family.
The man hesitated. "Even if we put aside the issue of preparing the bidding plan in time, do we have enough funds?"
"Don't worry about that-I have money."
Bella's expression remained composed. She was not lacking in wealth.
The Bidding Conference
Universe Group was a financial powerhouse with a diverse business portfolio. This bidding conference was for a resort development project, attracting interest from numerous companies.
Luxury cars filled the venue, and many attendees had arrived early.
As Chester entered the hall with his secretary, someone immediately approached.
"President Hunter, good morning!"
Chester maintained a polite smile. "President Smith, good morning."
The man glanced behind Chester and raised an eyebrow. "Huh? Such an important project, and you didn't bring Secretary Hunter?"
At the mention of Bella, Chester's expression darkened instantly.
That woman had grown wings and was acting out, throwing tantrums over who-knows-what.
The forced smile on his lips stiffened. "Bella is just a secretary. What difference does it make whether she's here or not?"
President Smith chuckled and shifted the conversation. "True. So, what are your thoughts on the resort project?"
Chester responded with a few perfunctory remarks.
Just then, from the corner of his eye, he caught sight of a familiar figure.
His eyes immediately lit up.
At the entrance, a young woman walked in.
Her dark hair contrasted with her red lips. Clad in a sleek black suit, she exuded a stunning beauty and an air of confidence, turning heads as soon as she appeared.
It was Bella.
At first, Chester felt a surge of joy.
Then, his lips curled into a sneer, laced with arrogance.
So much for her pride.
It had only been one night, and she was already coming to him, eager to attend the bidding conference.
Though Chester feigned indifference, deep down, he let out a breath of relief.
