Chapter 5 The Path Of Power

With a new found determination Alex began her plot, she understood that getting married to a rich man was the only way to get married.

Elixa still with the old man took him upstairs to show off her beautiful body.

Lost in thoughts Dominic realized that he hated Elixa passionately, and needed to get rid of her as soon as possible, but he was going to need lots of help.

After three hours, Elixa came downstairs with the old man, Dominic was released.

The silence is the car troubled Elixa, but she was not also willing to break the ice.

Alex went to the hospital and the doctor treated her wounds. After she got better she thought it best to run away.

She did not care about the food, or the fancy building anymore.

What if something went wrong with the client one day and she is unable to escape.

She sneaked out of the building with nothing but the check book she stole, but just as she was about to leave she felt someone's firm hand.

"Whenever anyone signs a deal with our boss, they have sealed there fate."

Alex kicked the guard in the groin and ran away.

The guards chased after her, he could not afford to disappoint his boss, the last time someone did so they lost a thumb.

"Stop her, stop her." The guards ran after her.

Alex got out of the gates on time and into the streets, she headed to a crib, getting in she took out her gun and threatened.

"If you dare hand me over to these people." Alex placed the gun on her head.

"I will die right here, in your house."

She said with her eyes filled with tears.

"If we don't find her before the boss returns we are going to loose our lives." The guards lamented.

There was only one thing left to do, the guards took his gun and shot himself.

The lady patted Alex's hair.

"Who are you and where did you come from looking so dirty."

Alex thought for a while, if she dared to mention that she was escaping from Dominic, this woman will throw her out instantly.

"Are you trying to escape from Dominic?." The lady asked.

Alex paused, how did this woman figure it out so quickly.

"I was once a victim, you don't have to be scared of me, I have served him for fifteen years."

Alex dropped her gun.

"Fifteen years, how did you survive the cruelty, the rape."

The lady sat on the chair weakly.

"I had a daughter with him, but he sold her to the orphanage and I have not set my eyes on her ever since."

Alex placed her hand on the woman's shoulder. The house was filed with silence.

Dominics Heart

Days went by and Dominic had not yet set his eyes on Alex, he tried to forget about her; she was not even his type. After getting married to Elixa he became extremely miserable.

"I gave you all this wealth and power, and you have to do whatever I want!." Those words played countless times in Dominics head.

The next morning Dominic filed for a divorce, if he stayed silent in this marriage he would loose his mind.

Elixa laughed when she saw the lawyer.

"The people think you are a Mafia, an underdog, one they should fear, but no you are just a puppet in the hands of a woman and no lawyer can change that."

That day Dominic made a decision to commit murder once again.

A New Bond

Alex never knew the true identity of the one she had come to call mother, Cherry decided to keep her real name a secret.

Cherry made plans to leave Chicago for Alex's safety. She could not afford to bump into Elixa.

"We are to leave town tomorrow morning." Cherry said while whisking the eggs.

"When we leave we are not coming back are we?."

Cherry shook her head.

Alex thought hard, she truly had developed intense feelings for Dominic through the years.

But she was only a teenager then, and besides he is only after a woman's body and nothing more.

Elixa stopped Dominic from continuing his underground business, because it always involved women.

Dominic stayed indoors not allowed to go out without guards keeping a watchful eye on him.

"This is dangerous, do you think Elixa is going to fall for this?." A guard asked.

"She will, she is obsessed with me."

Elixa stood and admired her vast wealth thinking of what more she can accomplish.

"Why must a man have so many wives, and a woman only one husband. I will start a new trend, become a role model to the weak ladies."

Dominic heard her talking outloud and concluded that she had gone crazy.

He was prepared to loose his life, if that will seal his freedom.

Her First Crush

Back in high school Alex was a silent student who loved sitting at the extreme end. Not because she was dumb, but so she could admire the good looks of Prince Henry.

His extremely long hair always distracted the girls, but Alex knew it was love beyond that.

As Cherry and Alex waited in the airport someone her hand softly.

"You're Alex aren't you?.". Alex eyes were filled with tears, looking at her fellow student she was supposed to graduate many years ago.

She could not stop herself from crying.

"Don't be sad, if it helps you feel better I dropped out of school myself."

"Why?." Alex asked sobbing.

"School was boring, having to study so many things. I am actually running away from the palace.

I don't want to be a prince either once I get on the plane I am cutting my hair."

Cherry smiled it has being ages since she last saw Alex smile.

"Why don't you come with us!." Cherry suggested.

Henry complied and went with them. Henry held Alex's hand as the security scanned there bags.

Elixas Death

As Dominic went forward to serve his drink to Elixa, she smiled.

"You brought me something for the first time, do you need a favour?."

Dominic sat wondering if he should say yes or not.

"This kind offer might not last very long." Elixa said while drinking.

"I want to build an empire from scratch something in my name."

Elixa thought about it.

"As long as you do not hire any female workers, or get involved with any female client you have my permission.

Dominic walked away, he waited for the poison to do its work, but weeks passed and Elixa was still alive.
