Chapter 2 AN ARTIFACT

When the party started, Mr Robertson senior gave a grand speech and sang praises of his granddaughter who excels in everything she does. He made sure to describe every detail of how good his granddaughter is and with that he gave her the privilege to play a masterpiece to the guests, she sat by the piano and gave a beautiful play. This of course earned a round of applause from the guests. After that she went round with her grandparents and parents to greet the guests. Some complimented her performance on stage, others wanted to sign with their company.

Some of the young men approached her with friendly intentions while others with motive. George Lucas, who just came back from Washington, came to congratulate her. Jane scrutinized him with a stiff smile and responded with only a nod. He was dressed so simple, there was nothing speaking of wealth in his dressing. Jane turned around and excused herself from those elites fawning over her. When she left she did not notice the disappointing looks from George who turned and left the villa with his butler.

Outside the villa, the butler asked " young master, is she not to your liking? George sneered and continued to close his eyes with no intention to interact further. Butler Jones thought he must have overstepped his boundaries and quickly shut his mouth without saying any other words. Main while Jane was screaming inside when she saw the gifts that were given to her. Mr. Fred Lincoln from the entertainment company came around to give his own gift of a house in Juicy lane which left other young men in awe. A house in Juicy lane cost over a hundred thousand dollars yet the Lincoln family gave it out just like that. This act speaks volume of how wealthy the Lincoln family is. Jane was so happy but couldn't express it too obviously as she has always appeared to be the proper lady of her family.

" You have truly surprised us with this, Mr Fred, now how do you want us to compete with you, teased Alex Brandon "

"I don't seem like I can lose face, can I?" asked Alex as he took out a set of keys from his pocket and gave it to Jane saying it was a birthday present. The guests all

clapped as this continued amongst the younger generations. After dining, the guests left one after the other.

After seeing off the last guest for the day Mr. Megwel Robertson and his wife Jane Robertson sat on the couch feeling all drained but there were smiles on their faces as they recall the event that has just ended.

Just then Jane stood up abruptly with wide eyes as wide as the sky while holding an artifact, seeing the sudden reaction from Jane, old Mr Robertson senior took a step forward and took the artifact from Jane with trembling hands.

" I would have never believed I would live to see this if I was told, this is certainly the most expensive of everything here. This artifact was first seen with king Jeong in the joseon era where he gave his queen as a birthday present, explained Mr Robertson senior " the younger generations of the Robertson all gawk. Some of the members started thinking of taking it for themselves.

" Grandpa, this is beautiful, why don't you give it to me, we can auction it and use the money for the company, " said Roy Robertson, the first grandson of Mr Robertson senior, which earned him a glare from his grandfather.

" Whoever send this is not someone of low class, let's check who sent it first before deliberating on how to share it" said Megwel

Mr Robertson senior did not need to be told what his sons and grandsons were thinking. Each of them converts this artifact out of greed but he was not planning on selling it.
