Chapter 3 Unspoken truth

Sure! Here's a more straightforward and easier-to-read version of your story:

The Next Morning

Anne woke up with aches all over her body. Deville was lying peacefully beside her. She gently slipped out of bed and went to her room.

She made her way to the bathroom, staggering a bit, and took a long, hot bath. The water was so hot it almost burned her skin, but she stayed in for over thirty minutes. Afterward, she wrapped a thick towel around herself, dressed in a warm sweater, and a thick pair of pants. She closed the window, turned off the air conditioner, and left the light on. She crawled into bed, pulled the blanket over herself, and soon fell asleep.

Deville woke up and noticed Anne was no longer in bed beside him. He quickly checked the bathroom, but she wasn't there. Worried, he rushed to her room and found her lying on the bed.

"How can she sleep in this overheated room?" he muttered. He opened the window and turned the air conditioner on.

"Anne! Anne!" He called as he shook her awake, pulling the blanket off her. She was drenched in sweat, and her temperature felt high.

"Wake up, Anne!" He shook her harder.

"What?" she mumbled sleepily.

Deville unzipped her sweater and saw her skin, which made him furious. "What did you do to yourself?"

"Please, let me rest. I'm so tired," she begged.

He shook her again. "What have you done to yourself?"

Anne zipped her sweater back up and looked at him tiredly. "The hot water will help with the pain. I just need some rest."

"And you locked yourself in a stuffy room to do this?" he asked angrily. She turned away, ignoring him.

Deville stormed out of the room, pulling the blanket from her as he left.

At breakfast, Deville sat down, clearly upset. "Millie, isn't breakfast ready?" he asked.

"Sorry, sir. I'm almost done," Millie answered from the kitchen.

Deville walked into the living room and turned on the TV. Millie called out, "Sir, breakfast is ready."

He went to the dining room to eat, and as Millie served him, he said, "Go and get Anne for breakfast."

Millie reluctantly went upstairs to fetch Anne but returned quickly. "Sir, she's not in her room."

Deville stood up, fuming. "What do you mean?"

"I went into her room, but she wasn't there," Millie explained.

"Anne! Annabel! Anne!" Deville shouted as he rushed upstairs. When he came back downstairs without finding her, he was even more furious. "Get me the security guard now!"

Millie went outside and quickly brought Sandro, the guard.

"Did you see Anne leave the house?" Deville demanded.

"Yes, I opened the gate for her," Sandro answered.

Deville slapped him hard, causing Sandro to stumble. "How dare you open the gate for her without permission?"

Sandro tried to explain, "She said she was going to get painkillers from her house."

Deville didn't respond, walking away. He turned to Alex. "Get me the car keys now."

Anne was still trying to sleep when her phone rang. It was Mrs. Federica, the elderly woman who lived next door. Anne answered.

"Hello, Ma, how are you?" Anne greeted her.

"I'm fine, my daughter. Can you come home now?" Mrs. Federica asked.

"Is everything okay?" Anne wondered, sensing urgency.

"No problem, dear. Just come, please."

"Okay, I'll be right there." Anne quickly dressed and headed out.

Deville was still in the living room when she quietly made her way to the back door. Millie was busy in the kitchen. She slipped out through the backyard to avoid being noticed and almost reached the gate when the security guard stopped her.

"Ma'am, where are you going?"

Anne smiled and lied, "I left my painkillers at my apartment. I'm going to get them."

The guard hesitated but then opened the gate for her.

She took a cab home and found Mrs. Federica and Frank sitting outside. She greeted the elderly woman but ignored Frank.

Mrs. Federica patted the seat next to her. "Sit, my child."

Anne sat down, staying between the woman and Frank.

"Why did you call me so urgently?" Anne asked.

Mrs. Federica smiled warmly. "You and Frank have been through a lot. I've seen something in his eyes."

Anne glanced at Frank, who was quietly staring at her.

"Something in his eyes?" she wondered, feeling bitter. It must be guilt, just like I saw in my late husband's eyes, she thought.

"I've seen that look before," Mrs. Federica continued. "Don't let his mistakes take away the love he has for you. Please, give him a chance."

Anne stood up to leave, but Frank grabbed her hand.

"Frank, let go. You're hurting me," she said, trying to free herself.

He didn't release her. Instead, his grip tightened. "Anne, please. I'm sorry for what happened. Just listen to me."

Anne felt tears welling up. "Let me go. I don't want to talk about it."

"Are you seeing someone else?" Frank asked, his voice full of panic.

Anne didn't respond, and it made him even more frantic. "Tell me, Anne. Are you seeing another guy?"

She thought about Deville and the contract but shook her head. "No."

"Then why are you doing this?" Frank asked, lifting her chin. "Why are you ending this?"

Anne's mind flashed to the night before, and she saw the marks on her neck. Frank noticed them too. "What happened to your neck?"

Anne quickly looked away. "I... I burnt myself."

Frank wasn't convinced. "You didn't come home last night. Where were you?"

Anne hesitated. "I went to Naomi's."

"Anne, tell me the truth," Frank begged. His eyes were filled with desperation.

The thought of another man touching Anne was driving him crazy.
