Chapter Six – The Billionaire's Secret Obsession

A storm raged outside Damian's penthouse, mirroring the chaos brewing between them. Rain lashed against the towering glass windows, casting flickering shadows across the dimly lit room. Emma stood near the fireplace, arms crossed, trying to make sense of the evening's events. The anonymous warning, the unsettling phone call, the sense of being watched-it all pointed to something bigger, something Damian wasn't telling her.

Damian leaned against his desk, his sharp gaze fixed on her. "You're hiding something from me." His voice was low, almost a growl, his body tense with restrained energy.

Emma scoffed, her pulse quickening at the way he studied her. "That's rich coming from you. You've been keeping secrets since the moment we met."

His jaw tightened, but he didn't deny it. Instead, he pushed off the desk and stalked toward her. "You think I don't notice when something's wrong? You were distracted all night. What happened?"

She debated whether to tell him. The last time she confronted him about his past, he shut her out. But this was different. The danger wasn't just lurking in the shadows anymore-it was here.

Emma pulled out her phone and showed him the message she'd received just hours ago. Walk away before it's too late.

Damian's expression darkened as he read the words. His hand curled into a fist, and for a moment, she thought he might slam it against the nearest surface. Instead, he exhaled slowly, his control razor-thin.

"Who sent this?" His voice was deadly calm.

"I don't know," she admitted. "But someone's been following me, Damian. I can feel it."

Something flickered in his eyes-an emotion she wasn't used to seeing. Fear? No. Something far more dangerous.

"You should've told me the moment this happened." He stepped closer, invading her space, but she refused to back down.

"And what would you have done?" she challenged. "Locked me away? Pretended like this is normal?"

His hand cupped her chin, tilting her face up to his. "You don't understand the kind of people I deal with, Emma. If someone is targeting you, they're doing it because of me. And I don't take threats lightly."

A shiver ran down her spine-not from fear, but from the way his thumb traced her lower lip, as if he was memorizing her. The air between them crackled with unspoken tension.

"You don't own me," she whispered, though the words lacked conviction.

His lips brushed dangerously close to hers. "That's where you're wrong."

Before she could protest, his mouth captured hers in a searing kiss. It wasn't gentle. It was raw, desperate-like a man on the edge of losing control. His grip on her waist tightened, pulling her flush against him, and she gasped against his lips.

The kiss deepened, their bodies molding together as heat surged between them. Damian's hands roamed her back, his touch possessive, demanding. Emma's fingers tangled in his hair, pulling him closer even as her mind screamed at her to stop.

She was falling too deep.

With effort, she broke the kiss, breathing heavily. "This doesn't change anything," she murmured.

Damian's eyes burned into hers. "It changes everything."

A sharp knock at the door shattered the moment. Both of them tensed.

Damian moved first, his entire demeanor shifting back to cold calculation. He grabbed his gun from the desk drawer and motioned for Emma to stay behind him.

The knock came again, more insistent this time.

Damian checked the security feed, his expression hardening. He opened the door a crack, and a man dressed in all black shoved his way inside.

"Wolfe," the man greeted, his voice laced with urgency.

Emma's heart pounded. She recognized him. Isla Sterling's right-hand man.

"You have a problem," the man continued. "And it just got worse."

Damian's grip on the gun tightened. "Speak."

The man glanced at Emma, hesitating.

"She stays," Damian ordered.

The man exhaled sharply. "Your security has been compromised. Someone inside your circle is feeding information to your enemies."

Emma's blood ran cold.

Damian's gaze flickered to her, then back to the man. "Who?"

"We don't know yet," the man admitted. "But whoever it is, they know about her." He nodded toward Emma. "And they're planning to use her as leverage."

The room felt suddenly suffocating.

Damian turned to her, his eyes flashing with something dark. "You're not leaving my side from now on."

Emma swallowed hard, the reality of the situation crashing down on her. She was no longer just an outsider caught in Damian's dangerous world.

She was the target.

And there was no way out.

-

Emma sat on the edge of Damian's leather couch, staring at the flickering city lights beyond the rain-streaked windows. Her thoughts raced.

Someone inside Damian's trusted circle was feeding information to his enemies. That meant whoever had sent the warning message was close. Too close.

Damian paced across the room, phone pressed to his ear. "Tighten security. I want every entrance and exit monitored. No one gets in or out without my say."

His voice was sharp, commanding, leaving no room for argument. But Emma knew that despite his control, he was furious.

After ending the call, he turned to her. "I need you to tell me everything, Emma. If you noticed anything unusual before receiving that message, I need to know."

She shook her head. "I didn't see anyone suspicious. But there was something strange at the restaurant a few days ago."

Damian narrowed his eyes. "Go on."

"There was a man sitting at the back. He never ordered anything. Just watched me. I thought I was imagining it, but he was there again the next night."

His jaw clenched. "Did he approach you?"

"No. But when I left that night, I had the feeling someone was following me."

Damian muttered a curse. "Why didn't you tell me this sooner?"

Emma shot him a glare. "Because I wasn't sure if I was overreacting! And let's be honest, you haven't exactly been forthcoming with information either."

His gaze darkened, but he didn't argue. Instead, he sat beside her, his presence overwhelming. "You're in danger, Emma. And I won't let anything happen to you."

The sincerity in his voice made her heart clench.

"Why me?" she whispered.

Damian's expression softened just a fraction. "Because you mean something to me."

The words sent a shiver down her spine. But before she could respond, his phone buzzed.

He glanced at the screen, his face turning to stone.

"What is it?" Emma asked.

His grip tightened around the device. "A location ping from my security team."

She frowned. "And?"

Damian met her gaze. "It's coming from inside the building."

Emma's breath hitched.

The traitor wasn't just close.

They were already here.
