Chapter 7 Absurd

Bryan

Gosh, my mom can be so annoying. Sending a girl I know nothing about to my mansion? That's not happening.

I don't care what games she's trying to play, but there's no way I'm getting married to some random woman.

Who the hell does that? Was marriage some sort of joke or something? Damn them all.

It's never happening and I'm going to make sure of that!

"Philip," I called out immediately, taking the first step of putting a stop to every one of their plots.

I'm not some baby to be shoved around by his parents.

If only they knew what I'm currently made of, they would stop pestering me for some family inheritance and shove it down Dave's throat in a hurry.

Philip, my best bodyguard, always rode in the car with me. The other four followed behind in another car.

Due to my call to him, He turned slightly from the front passenger seat, giving me his full attention.

"Yes, Lord," he replied, respectful as always.

"Switch on my other phone and turn this one off," I ordered, handing him my primary phone.

"Right away, Lord," he said, taking the phone.

I leaned back in my seat, staring out the window as the city lights blurred past.

Let's see how Mom plans to pull this off without being able to reach me. I'm not settling for less, no matter what.

A few minutes later, the gates of my mansion swung open, and we drove in. I exhaled deeply, glad to be back in my space.

"Welcome, Lord," the workers greeted as I stepped out of the car. Their voices blended into the background. I never bothered replying.

I strode straight to my room, needing some quiet to think.

"Lord," Philip called, following close behind.

"Just come in," I said without turning.

He stepped inside and stood by the door.

"The phone I switched on has been ringing nonstop," he said, bowing slightly.

I paused. "Who's calling?" I asked, though I wasn't really interested in hearing the answer.

"Your manager and Miss Livia," Philip replied.

At the mention of Livia, I scoffed, shaking my head. I didn't even consider her my girlfriend.

She was more of a convenience-someone to pass the time with.

"Give my manager a call," I ordered, grabbing a cigarette. I lit it, taking a long drag before exhaling the smoke into the air.

Philip dialed the number and handed me the phone. "It's ringing, Lord," he said before bowing and leaving the room.

"Bryan, why haven't you been answering your phone?" my manager snapped as soon as he picked up.

His tone was sharp, but I let it slide.

"I needed some time off the grid," I said, taking another drag from my cigarette.

"You were supposed to attend the concert last night," he said, his voice rising.

"None of your lines were working! Do you have any idea how much money we lost because of that?"

I smirked. He was probably pulling his hair out right now.

"Relax, man. Reschedule it for tomorrow night. It's already late today, and my fans won't settle for anything less than the best."

"You're unbelievable, Bryan," he snapped. "I've had it with your attitude! You act like-"

I hung up before he could finish. I wasn't in the mood to hear him lecture me.

He was the only person I allowed to speak to me like that, and honestly, he was pushing his luck.

"If it were anyone else, they'd be dead by now," I muttered, stubbing out my cigarette.

I headed into my bathroom, needing a shower to clear my head.

The water hit my skin like a rush of calm, but it couldn't wash away the frustration bubbling inside me.

Mr Chapman

I really can't believe my wife is saying this to me right now. This is definitely so infuriating.

"Don't you dare tell me that, woman! you spoiled that son of yours that he now walks out when I am talking to him!"I roared while pacing round the room from end to end.

"What gave him that right, huh?"

"Don't you dare put the blame on me, Chapman.

Bryan began hating you when we both found out you had a son from another woman. Impregnating a woman wasn't enough, she Gave birth to him wasn't enough for you either!

Rather, you also brought the bas*ard to live with us."she yelled and I scoffed loudly.

"Dave is not a bas*ard and he would surely be the one to inherit my properties since your son isn't ready to comply."I said with finality.

"You won't dare do that, Chapman! Either Bryan or no one else. That bas*tard is not gonna inherit anything!"she barked and tried walking out with her heels clicking hard on the tiled floors but I called her back immediately.

"Come here woman! Don't you dare walk out on me. We aren't done yet with our conversation." I yelled and she stopped in her movement.

She turned around to glare at me but I didn't give a damn about that.

"What else do we have to discuss, Chapman? I have nothing else to say to you, so I'm done with this conversation!" She yelled and I smirked.

"I'm the man here, woman! I decide when to end our conversation, not you."

She scoffs, "A Man indeed! A man who is planning on giving his properties to his bas*tard of a son." She gritted out spitefully.

My face twisted up in a frown immediately those words left her lips.

"Don't you ever dare call my son a bas*tard! Don't push me into taking an action so quickly, and you should know my action won't benefit either you or your son!" I threatened as I saw her face go blank.

"Wow Chapman, I never knew you could be this biased towards my son. Well, like I said earlier, it's either my son or no one else. Excuse me." She hissed out before storming out of the Master's bedroom going to God knows where.

I chuckled and loosen up my tie.

It's been so long I got into such a heated argument with her and it feels so good doing it today.
