Chapter 4 4

Damien DeLuca's POV

I was in my office waiting for Dominic to arrive, I got here first because he had to park the car, I was also waiting for 4 out of 10 of my most trusted to get here because before we killed off Steve he told us John, Rodriguez, Blanco, and Castelo were not being loyal to the De Luca Famiglia.

I looked at my phone when it pinged, I got a text from Dom saying he was about to walk in.

I waited patiently, looking over liquor shipments and numbers, when I looked at the clock, I realized 20 minutes or so had gone by.

'where the hell is he?'

I walked out of my office to find the 4 being accused as traitors, I nodded my head in acknowledgment "aspetta un attimo, tornerò presto" (wait a moment, I will be back shortly)

I told the men, and before making it down the stairs I stopped and searched for Dom.

I searched for about 2 minutes when I spotted him with a shorter woman clinging to him in the far left corner of a booth.

I made my way to him and when I was at arm's reach I saw a young woman with long brown hair stopping at her waist trying to persuade someone to go home with her.

I paid it no mind and instead went to get Dominic's attention, while still looking at the woman's behind, not that it wasn't a nice ass but that wasn't what I was focused on.

"Dominic, I've been waiting up in my office for 20 minutes, what the hel-"

I then realized who the woman was trying to coax out of the booth, I sighed out realizing who I disliked the most when they were inebriated.

Is she back from Paris, already?!

I decided to voice out my confusion and asked "Is that Jayda?" My voice came out as if I was irritated, but I was just anticipating her reaction to seeing me.

She then finally saw me and we made eye contact, and as if on command she booted off the brunette that was occupying her lap quite carelessly and ran to me,

'Fuck-'

'If you weren't the Don, I would advise you to run.' The voice in my head said, but instead, I mentally prepared myself in the short 5 seconds it took her to reach me, for her to slam into my body and catch me in an embrace.

'She knows we don't like physical, doesn't she?'

'She'll be forgiven, she's drunk' I reminded my inner voice.

I didn't enjoy people's hands on me, I used to not care for it until she took an interest in me.

Jayda then spoke entirely too loud for our proximity," Ohh Damien! It's been so long! I missed you, you fucker!"

I sigh out loud, remaining stiff, she did always have a foul mouth.

The woman then spoke, and my attention went to her; she was stunning, her deep brown eyes almost appearing black, looked at Jayda, and in an almost pleading tone, she said

"Jay sweets, come on let the guy go he looks quite ready to stop the hug, come on let's go home and watch your movie and cuddle, remember?"

'I'd like a cuddle as well.' My intrusive thoughts flew in,

'What?'

Jay then looked up at me and pleaded with the woman to "wait!"

And with eyes full of joy Jayda said, "You still hate human contact don't you, big guy?" She said smugly as if proud of the boundary she was crossing.

I look down at her and nod stiffly, I know my eyes look ready to kill, but I have a soft spot for Jay, she's like my sister but more outgoing, and I can't bring myself to go off on her.

"Jay, it's nice to see you again, you've violated me enough, don't you think?" With my words she let me go and her smile didn't falter "Sorry Theo, I forgot how much you dislike touching but I just had to I missed you so much!"

I felt a warm feeling but it was gone as quickly as it came, "I too did not like your absence, Jay, I hope to see you again soon." I then pulled away and patted her head.

After I got her off all of my attention went straight to the mystery woman in front of me.

I looked directly into her captivating brown doe eyes, she looked a little shocked that I even glanced at her, but she hid it well, even though I caught it.

Dominic must have realized why I was looking at her because he began to speak.

"Hey, um, this is Sophia, Jay's best friend, and Sophia, this is Damien, he's my best friend and work partner..." She nodded and smiled at me, I didn't return her smile but instead, I reached out my hand for her to shake.

'What are you doing?' The voice asked me and I ignored it,

I got this feeling a need inside that told me that I needed to touch her, even just a simple handshake would suffice.

"Pleasure to meet you Damien, it's always nice to meet someone new." I nodded, enjoying the sound of her soft, calming but full of confidence voice. I didn't take my eyes off her once, and neither did she.

I didn't pull away quickly, instead I responded to her, "Pleasure is all mine Sophia,"

After I finished my response I slowly let go of her hand. She then disconnected our eyes and glanced at Jayda and Dominic, looking confused.

'They look surprised because I willingly touched her without flinching or being uncomfortable.'

I didn't want to see the look on their faces so instead

I continue to look at the woman, Sophia...

'Snap out of it dumbass you touched her, you'll taint her get away from her, she makes you feel shit'

I snapped out of my trance and told Dom

"The men are waiting in my office, let's go," I said, and without a second thought, I patted Jay's head once again, looked at Peterson nodding in acknowledgment, and turned to go back to my office.

'What was that?'

'Why did I willingly want to touch her? Why did I not hesitate or flinch? Why the hell was it so easy?!'

'This is interesting.' I stop my thoughts when I get to the stairs of my office, I open my office door with a key card and tell the men to enter.

They each sit in their separate seats, which are placed in front of my desk.
