Chapter 5 The Comeback

Elias Macaulay stepped into the conference room all dressed in a black suit and took a seat. He looked around and was surprised that they were all seated in place for him. They were ready for the meeting. Elias hated that he wasn't punctual for today's meeting. The traffic today was surprisingly bad. It was rarely that way in Seattle. It made him feel like he was back in Los Angeles.

"Sorry. I'm late," he said. "Now. Can we start the meeting?"

"Sir. One more member is left," the presenter said.

Elias looked around the table and recognized all the members that were present. So what was his secretary talking about?

"Everybody is here," he pointed out.

"Not everybody, sir. We have a new member," his secretary said.

Elias raised an eyebrow in confusion.

"Who the hell is that?"

Immediately, the door swung open and a man stepped into the room. Everybody turned around to watch the man who was all dressed in an Italian black suit with a floral design and a white undershirt. He had jet black hair which was combed neatly and a pair of glistening green eyes.

As Elias watched the man come into the room, his eyes lit up in shock. He was in disbelief at what he saw. It couldn't be true. His teeth clenched and he grabbed the frame of his chair in fury. This couldn't be possible.

"Ladies and gentlemen, let us welcome the last member to our board, Kaiden Toliver."

All the board members clapped except for Elias who watched as Kaiden took a sir before them. He was looking for an explanation for this but couldn't find anything. Kaiden had shocked the daylights out of him.

How long has it been? Seven years? He had thought he had finally gotten rid of him, but here he was. How was that possible? And how was he able to buy a share in this company?

"Can we begin?" Elias' secretary asked.

Elias turned to him.

"Proceed."

After the meeting, the other board members shook hands with Kaiden. They were all giving him a warm welcome. Elias shook his head in disappointment. None of them would remember Kaiden.

Kaiden had once been allowed to present before them. He could remember that he had done very well and they had ended up winning that contract. He was good for business, but now that he was back in his company and also occupying a shareholder's position, it meant that something bad was about to happen.

Kaiden walked up to Elias with a smile on his face. He was satisfied with the look on his face. It looked like Elias was living his worst nightmare. He was back to haunt him, and he was going to make sure that Elias regretted everything he had done. That had been his sole purpose.

"Well, well, well," Kaiden sang as he came to him. "If it isn't Elias Macaulay."

Elias clenched his jaws at that.

"We meet again," Kaiden said, stretching his hand for a shake.

Elias glared at his hand contemplating what to do. He wanted to hurt him so badly. And with that, he grabbed Elias by the suit and slammed him on the table. This caught the attention of everybody in the room.

"Tell me. What are you doing here? How did you get a share in my company?" He demanded.

Kaiden chuckled as he watched Elias lose his mind. His plan was going perfectly. He was able to break Elias's wrist bones, but he rather let his ego defeat him.

Through the seven years he had been away, Kaiden had gotten wealthy and also gone through some intense training. He had learned the art of traditional medicine and also mastered a lot of martial arts techniques. He was a black belt champion and was more than capable of taking Elias out with a single punch but he rather not.

Elias could feel his blood boil after Kaiden refused to answer him. He was still grinning at him.

"You can fool everyone in this room, but you can't fool me! I know why you are here," he said.

"Look around, Elias," Kaiden said gently.

Elias, filled with anger, cranked an eyebrow at him in confusion. Then, he looked up and found out that the shareholders were all looking at him in surprise. He had lost his cool before all of them. He hadn't even realized.

At this point, he wasn't going to get the contract he thought he could. They had all seen his erratic behavior and were going to tag it as unacceptable to work with. Kaiden may just have ruined this contract on his first day back in the company.

Elias let go of him gently, and Kaiden leaned off the table erecting his suit properly.

"You always told me to be smart," Kaiden said in his ear. "What you do right now, but so smart of you, Elias."

Elias clenched his jaws in fury as he heard that. He hated to admit the fact that Kaiden was right but he was. He had messed up big time. He had let his emotions get a hold of him, and now he had lost something very valuable to him.

"We will be taking a leave now, Elias. And we will discuss what just went on here," one of the shareholders said before heading out of the door.

The rest of them left leaving only him in the room with Kaiden.

"Well then. I think that's my queue to leave," he said.

Elias balled his hands into fists. Kaiden walked towards the door and grabbed the handle turning to him.

"This isn't over," Elias said.

Kaiden chuckled at that.

"For the first time, I agree with you, Elias. This is far from being over."

And with that, he left the room. Elias turned around and ran his fingers through his hair in frustration.

"Shit!"
