Rachel bit her lip, 'Oh shit! I have no choice!' she babbled silently.
"Let go of my hand! I'm starving, give me some food!" said her at last. She turned around and walked into the lobby of the apartment with Nicholas walking behind her holding back his laugh.
Everyone nodded and smiled politely as they walked across the lobby. Well, of course! Rachel was walking with the owner of the building after all! She suddenly stopped in her tracks, surprising Nicholas who also stopped behind her. "What is it?" he asked with one eyebrow raised.
"I want to eat in that restaurant, I heard they had a delicious steak, you will treat me right?" she said with an annoyed face because she remembered the hospital bill she had to pay before.
"It depends!" he shrugged.
"Depends on what?" Rachel started to get mad.
"Depends on your answer, if you still refuse of course you have to pay for everything yourself, ah I need smoothies!" Nicholas stretched his arms as he walked ahead of Rachel towards the Italian Restaurant located on the first floor of the building.
Rachel snorted in annoyance, she stomped her foot once while clenching her fists. If it weren't for that damn house certificate she would have chosen to leave instead of being together with that crazy billionaire. From a distance, she saw Nicholas who was sitting casually while eating a warm croissant. She smirked and walked over to him with a sour face.
"Excuse me!" she waved her hand at the waiter and sat down on the chair next to Nicholas who unbothered and kept chewing his bread. She glanced at the menu and ordered the most expensive meal. Then she snatched the Croissant basket from Nicholas and took one.
"If you're my wife you can't be this tacky," mumbled Nicholas, his hands were busy pouring San Pellegrino into a glass.
"Oh, whatever! First, you have to explain to me why you chose me to be your temporary wife?" Rachel asked, tearing the croissant and popping it into her mouth.
"I don't have to answer that and it's in the contract," Nicholas said nonchalantly.
"What?!" Rachel tried to keep herself from cursing. She took a deep breath to calm herself down.
"Okay, it's up to you, why me then?" she asked, avoiding Nicholas' gaze because every time she looked into his eyes she remembered what they did last night, the kiss, the touch...
"Why you? Well, you need the money desperately and I think you're not the type of someone who could fall in love easily, and you know why? Because that's the last thing I wanted to happen, I don't want my contract wife to fall in love with me and I don't want to fall in love with her either," replied Nicholas casually.
Rachel was agape, then she laughed out loud, "Do you think someone would ever fall in love with an annoying person like you? Believe me, but nobody would!" she said, somehow she felt so irritated because indirectly Nicholas was saying that he chose her because she didn't deserve to be fell in love with.
"Why are so mad? Are you expecting me to answer that I chose you because you're beautiful and I like you?" teased Nicholas, half-smiling. Rachel's face turned red because he was right, she was indeed expecting that answer, "Oh you're such a delusional asshole, mark my words! I'll never fall in love with you! Never ever even there's only you and me on this earth! NEVER! Remember that!" said her while pointing her index finger to Nicholas's face.
Nicholas snorted a laugh, he shrugged, "That's cool! I'm feeling safe now! Thank you! Such a relief..." said her annoyingly. Rachel clenched her fist, she couldn't believe that she lost her virginity to that sociopath. Before long her food arrived, it was a Ribeye Steak with truffled Potato Gratin. She cut her steak, then in one gulp, her mood changed. Everything got better when her tongue was spoiled by delicious food. She closed her eyes, "Shit! This is so good..." said her as if there was nothing happened between her and Nicholas before.
"You're really weird, so what do you think? Do you agree with my offer?" Nicholas asked as he pushed aside his empty banana smoothie glass. Rachel stopped her hand that was cutting the steak, flung back to reality. She looked up at Nicholas with a thoughtful face.
"Basically I agree but I have to reread all the contents of the contract, I wouldn't know if you put weird things in there like I have to fuck a horse or something," she mumbled seriously.
Nicholas snorted, "You think I'm crazy or something!" he said, shaking his head in disbelief, unable to understand what was going on in the head of the unique woman in front of him. Then his eyes fell on Rachel's bruised and injured forehead, "How's your forehead? Nothing serious right?" he asked indifferently.
"Why do you care? You didn't even pay for the hospital fee!" replied Rachel irritably. Nicholas shrugged, "You are a stranger to me, why would I spend money for your own mistakes? Nobody told you to bang your head into that stupid ceramic glass," he said, waving his hand at the waiter, asking for the bill.
"Really?" Rachel rolled her eyes, she couldn't believe she had met the most disgusting creature of the century.
"Where are you going?! I'm not done with my steak yet!" Rachel shouted in annoyance when she saw Nicholas get up and walk away.
"You're not going to eat the plate, are you?" Nicholas said, his eyes fixed on Rachel's plate which was completely empty.
Rachel, who was dredging the mushroom truffle sauce with her fork, stopped immediately, her face red with embarrassment. "Asshole!" she hissed silently. Just as she was picking up her bag and about to follow Nicholas into the elevator someone stopped her.
"Rachel Clarke!"
She turned to find Trey Cole, standing and smiling at her. He was the only man she had ever fallen in love with since she was in college. Rachel's body froze from being too nervous. But suddenly someone grabbed her wrist, "Babe, why is it taking you so long, let's go!"
"What?! Babe?!"
