Gabriel walked towards the field in his long strides. His eyes didn't give away any emotions but everyone knew he was pissed right now.
But why?
She is just a maid... So why?
Why would the great Gabriel Phoenix be worried about a maid?
A slave...
The two girls began to search the field for Isabelle. They didn't even know Isabelle's name since she was new and this was why they couldn't call her.
Gabriel stopped when he suddenly heard a faint breathing in the direction of the field.
He halted in his movement and gazed around, and there she was...
Lying on the field with no care if danger lurks in the castle but something is not right.
Gabriel turned to the two guards beside him.
"Wake her up," he declared and the maid stopped in their tracks when they heard the Alpha words.
He has seen her.
The guards went deeper into the field to wake the sleeping Isabelle up but she didn't budge.
"Is she refusing to wake up?" Gabriel's voice thunders, slicing through the silent night.
The maids cowered in fear as they rushed towards where Isabelle lay. It felt as if they had committed a grave crime.
"She is not waking up, sir." Gabriel rushed into the field like a termite which just found a decaying wood.
The guards stepped away when they saw the Alpha come towards them.
Gabriel bent down and checked her pulse. He could see she was still breathing. He carried Isabelle in his arms and walked towards his chambers while the maids and the guards watched in awe.
They were confused because the Alpha had never been nice to anyone so who could this girl be?
Gabriel got Isabelle into the bathtub. He switched on the light to let the room become brighter.
"You can't die without my permission, Isabelle" Gabriel muttered lowly.
He tore her clothes and turned her back to himself. If there was something he had noticed, it was the faint smell of blood that kept on disturbing his senses when they were coming from the Moon Cave pack.
He had expected he was going to heal, but who knew she couldn't even heal when she was not human.
Gabriel's expression turned hard, and his mood shifted when he saw the fresh wound on Isabelle's back.
His knuckles turned white as he stared at the wound on her back. He couldn't believe this.
"Who did this to you?!" Gabriel asked the sleeping Isabelle while his fist collided with the hard floor.
He stepped out of the room, leaving her alone.
"Tell Caitlyn to come to my chambers now."
The guards disappeared from the Alpha room and came back with the Caitlyn. The maids had already washed Isabelle up. Still, she didn't wake up.
They wore a white dress for her in the Alpha room before leaving.
Gabriel went in with Caitlyn, who walked ahead to look at Isabelle.
She closed her eyes and opened them again, saying,
"It will take time for her wound to heal because a mark was removed there. I noticed she has lost communication with her wolf, which is why she is more like a human." Caitlyn explained, turning to face Gabriel.
"Did you know what the mark is and who removed it?" Gabriel inquired as he raked his hand through his jet-black hair.
Caitlyn herself swallowed hard when she noticed the subtle change in the Alpha's demeanor.
She has always fawned over Gabriel since she was little, but who knew the alpha would come to care about this woman?
"I don't know who removed this mark but I think it isn't up to a day. She will wake up tomorrow morning."
Gabriel heaved a sigh of relief when he heard this. Since Isabelle isn't dying, this will only make things more interesting for him.
"You can go, Caitlyn. I will sent for you whenever I need you again"
Caitlyn nodded her head and went out of the room. Her footsteps echoed as she walked out of the Alpha chamber.
Gabriel looked at Isabelle on the bed. She is exceptionally beautiful but Gabriel is confused she would commit such a grace crime.
He pulled off his shirt and sauntered towards the window.
One of the guards came in, bowing his head.
"Move her back to the servant quarters. She should continue her work tomorrow."
The guard nods his head, obeying the Alpha command.
***
The bell rang through the walls of the servant quarter, and everyone woke up from their sleep to begin today's work.
Isabelle fluttered her eyelids open to find herself back in the room. She wasn't dreaming. She has been demoted to the servant in just a day.
The two girls look at Isabelle oddly. They didn't utter a word about what happened last night but instead, they went ahead to take their bath.
Isabelle wallows in distress while staring at the sky through the open window. There is nothing beautiful about the morning right now but one thing would keep her going.
She is finally in the lion's den. It's up to her to choose if she will get devoured or try to kill her predator.
Isabelle turned in time to see the maid back from bathing. They were wearing new, fresh clothes.
"The head maid will bring your clothes; you can go ahead and take your bath," the petite girl said.
"Did I walk back in here last night? I noticed my clothes were changed too," Isabelle inquired, pointing her hand at her dress and the maid's heart skipped a beat.
Their composed expression fell when they heard Isabelle ask them about what happened.
The petite girl pushed herself forward to answer Isabelle.
"You fainted in the field last night, and we had to bring you in here. We also gave you these clothes because the one you wore was dirty," the lie rolled out smoothly from her tongue.
"Thank you," Isabelle murmured.
She disappeared into the bathroom to take a fresh bath.
"I'm sorry, mother. But I will try my best to make sure I take revenge on every one of them, even if I have to die." A lone tear escapes her eye, wetting her cheek while she stares at her reflection in the mirror.
Isabelle wore the uniform of the petite girls. Isabelle's clothes are completely different from theirs.
They were putting on a cream-colored dress with black stripes, while hers was a short blue skirt and a short-sleeved blouse which escaped her cleavages.
The dress hugged her hourglass shape perfectly. The two maids in the room swallowed hard when they noticed the way Isabelle was built. They were a bit jealous of her shape.
Her stomach grumbled as she tied her hair into a bun.
"Gosh, we forgot you didn't eat last night. Let's go and eat now before starting our duties."
Isabelle murmured a thank you before leaving the room with the girls.
Isabelle was given a lot of work compared to others. The wound on her back was taking its time to heal.
For several days, Isabelle never saw Gabriel again. Her plan was to get closer to him while planning his death in secret but luck wasn't on her side.
No one has seen the Alpha in the vicinity.
However, Isabelle wasn't going to give up now. She planned to work in the Alpha chamber in order to gain his favor but little did she know that Gabriel despised her because of Isabelle's evil parents.
