Chapter 5 THE ULTIMATUM

Ethan's eyes seemed to bore into Lexi's soul as he leaned forward, his voice taking on a menacing tone. "Here's the deal, Lexi," he said. "You're going to work for me, and you're going to do exactly what I say. If you don't, I'll make sure that video gets sent to every news station in the city."

Lexi felt a wave of fear wash over her. She knew that if that video got out, her reputation would be ruined. She would lose everything she had worked for.

"What do you want me to do?" she asked, trying to keep her voice steady.

Ethan smiled, seeming to enjoy her fear. "I want you to use your skills to help me take down my enemies," he said. "You're going to be my new assistant, and you're going to do exactly what I say."

Lexi felt a surge of anger at Ethan's words. She was not going to be his pawn, no matter what. But she knew she had to play along, at least for now.

"Okay," she said, trying to sound resigned. "I'll do it."

Ethan's smile grew wider. "Good choice, Lexi," he said. "I think you'll find that working for me has its benefits."

Lexi felt a chill run down her spine as Ethan's eyes seemed to undress her. She knew she had to get out of this situation, and fast. But for now, she was trapped.

As she left Ethan's office, Lexi couldn't help but wonder what she had just gotten herself into.
